Social Insurance Participation of Rural Migrant Workers Based on Gender Dimension: Evidence from Four Chinese Cities

Jianping Yao,Byung-Cheol Kim 한국사회복지학회 2015 Asian Social Work and Policy Review Vol.9 No.1

The aim of this article is to investigate the gender differences of rural migrant workers participating in social insurance involving three social protection models in four Chinese cities. The results show that, of the three models, the inclusive model has the highest participation rate and the independent model has the lowest. In general there are few gender differences in social insurance coverage. For both male and female participants, the factors which influence the participation of rural migrant workers in social insurance systems are age, income, education, enterprise ownership, labor contract, occupational mobility, and location. However, the relative importance of these factors in participation in social insurance is differentiated by gender

Who is Jobless? A Comparison of Joblessness in Rural and Urban Areas in China

Jianping Yao 한국사회복지학회 2017 Asian Social Work and Policy Review Vol.11 No.1

Since market-oriented economic reform was launched in China in the 1980s, unemployment has been recognized by the government. This paper focuses on the differences in joblessness in rural and urban areas between rural migrant workers, peasants, and urban citizens. The results indicate that people in rural areas frequently lose their jobs, which differs from the traditional perception. There is a significantly lower jobless rate in urban areas. In contrast to the results of previous studies, the employment situation of rural migrant workers is closer to urban citizens rather than peasants. Logistic regression results show that the elderly, women, and less educated citizens have a higher likelihood of joblessness, both in urban and rural areas. Minorities have a lower likelihood of joblessness in rural areas and a higher likelihood in urban areas. Chinese Communist Party members and people without dependent children have a lower likelihood of joblessness in urban areas.

A Cross Regulation Analysis for Single-Inductor Dual-Output CCM Buck Converters

        Yao Wang,Jianping Xu,Guohua Zhou 전력전자학회 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.5

Cross regulation is a key technical issue of single-inductor multiple-output (SIMO) DC-DC converters. This paper investigates the cross regulation in single-inductor dual-output (SIDO) Buck converters with continuous conduction mode (CCM) operation. The expressions of the DC voltage gain, control to the output transfer function, cross regulation transfer function, cross coupled transfer function and impedance transfer function of the converter are presented by the time averaging equivalent circuit approach. A small signal model of a SIDO CCM Buck converter is built to analyze this cross regulation. The laws of cross regulation with respect to various load conditions are investigated. Simulation and experiment results verify the theoretical analysis. This study will be helpful for converter design to reduce the cross regulation. In addition, a control strategy to reduce cross regulation is performed.

A transcriptional atlas of the silk gland in Antheraea pernyi revealed by IsoSeq

        Duan Jianping,Li Shanshan,Zhang Zhengtian,Yao Lunguang,Yang Xinfeng,Ma Sanyuan,Duan Nini,Wang Jiazhen,Zhu Xuwei,Zhao Ping 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Silk fibers spun by the silk gland of Antheraea pernyi have many unique properties and are of great value in genetic improvement and non-traditional applications. However, the complete transcriptional landscape and accurate genic annotation of the silk gland are yet to be conducted, which limits related studies on this organ. In this study, isoform sequencing revealed the full-length transcriptome of the A. pernyi silk gland, producing 12,572 high-confidence isoforms from 7,658 genes, among which more than 40 % of genes have not yet been annotated in the reference genome. Moreover, approximately 9 % of isoforms are computationally identified as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). Up to 1,492 alternative splicing (AS) and 3,068 alternative polyadenylation (APA) events were revealed within this transcriptome. In addition, 2,569 putative transcription factors (TFs) belonging to 68 different families were first identified in A. pernyi genome, including 871 TFs in silk gland, and some TF families have undergone expansion or contraction. This study significantly improve our knowledge of the genes expressed in the silk gland of A. pernyi and provide a valuable resource for the in-depth study of silk protein synthesis and spinning, genetic improvement, and non-traditional applications in A. pernyi.

Tissue-associated profiling of gene expression in the fifth-instar larvae of Chinese Oak Silkworm, Antheraea pernyi

        Duan Jianping,Liang Shimei,Zhu Zhenni,Yang Xinfeng,Li Ying,Xu Xin,Wang Jiazhen,Zhu Xuwei,Yao Lunguang 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Antheraea pernyi is an edible insect with important economic value in both traditional and non-traditional ap plications. Elucidating the details of gene expression variation among different A. pernyi larval tissues will greatly improve our knowledge about A. pernyi biology and promote its protection and breeding. Here, tissue-based transcriptome and gene co-expression network analysis were performed for the fifth-instar larval tissues of testis, midgut, Malpighian tubule, head, trachea, silk gland, integument, hemocyte, ovary, and fat body. A total of 1,991 tissue-associated genes, including 62 transcription factor-encoding genes, were correlated with the development and functions of these tissues. Moreover, 10 gene co-expression modules that were highly corre lated with the tissues were also determined. The most important 30 genes with top connectivity in each module were identified as hub genes to form the core co-expression network with important biological functions in the corresponding tissues. Based on these resources, further in-depth studies should be conducted to determine the roles of candidate genes and transcription factors governing tissue development and trait formation in A. pernyi.

Mg(OH)2/Graphene Nanocomposites Prepared by Cathodic Electrodeposition for the Adsorption of Congo Red

        Xinzhong Deng,Yao-wu Wang,Jianping Peng,Kejia Liu,Nai-xiang Feng,Yuezhong Di 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.2

A facile cathodic electrodeposition process was developed to prepare Mg(OH)2/Graphene nanocomposites (MGN), which was used to remove Congo Red (CR), an anionic dye from aqueous solution. The morphology and phase structure were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The effects of experimental parameters, such as graphene content, adsorption time, initial concentrations of CR and pH values, on the adsorption capacity of CR were studied. The obtained MGN shows the good performance in CR, with an adsorption capacity of 1986.43 mg g-1. The equilibrium adsorption and kinetics data fit with Langmuir isotherm and the pseudo-second-order model, respectively. Thermodynamic data suggest that CR adsorption onto MGN is spontaneous (ΔG0 : –9.62 kJ mol-1 at 313 K, endothermic (ΔH0 : 36.261 kJ mol-1) and the degree of disorder increased (ΔS0 : 146.848 J moL-1 K-1) at the solidsolution interface. Moreover, the adsorption activation energy (Ea: 38.929 kJ mol-1) of CR evaluated from the Arrhenius equation illustrates that it is a physical process. This adsorbent exhibits efficient adsorption properties and high recycling efficiency, making it a promising adsorbent for removing anionic dyes.

      • A Two-Dimensional Optical True Time-Delay Beamformer Consisting of a Fiber Bragg Grating Prism and Switch-Based Fiber-Optic Delay Lines

        Byung-Min Jung,Jianping Yao IEEE 2009 Photonics Technology Letters Vol.21 No.10

<P>A two-dimensional optical true time-delay (TTD) beamforming system for a planar phased array antenna (PAA) is proposed and demonstrated. The optical beamforming system consists of a fiber-Bragg-grating-prism-based wavelength-dependent TTD (WD-TTD) unit for azimuth beam steering and a microelectromechanical-system-switch-based wavelength-independent TTD (WI-TTD) unit for elevation beam steering. The time delays generated by the WD-TTD and WI-TTD are measured. The results show that the proposed system can achieve the required time delays with the time-delay errors for the WD-TTD and the WI-TTD at 1 GHz less than 11.8 and 3.6 ps, which correspond to radiation direction errors of less than 1.5deg and 0.4deg for a planar PAA with the adjacent array elements spaced by a half radio-frequency wavelength.</P>

Study on flow fields of centrally fuel rich swirl burner and its applications

        Zhichao Chen,Zhengqi Li,Jianping Jing,Lizhe Chen,Shaohua Wu,Yang Yao 한국화학공학회 2009 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.26 No.5

Experiments on a single-phase test facility were done to optimize primary air outlet cones of a centrally fuel rich swirl coal combustion burner. On the basis of optimized results from the single-phase test, a three-component particle-dynamics anemometer was used to measure, in the near-burner region, the characteristics of gas/particle two-phase flows for the burner with two primary air outlet cones, on a gas/particle two-phase test facility. Velocities, RMS velocities and particle volume flux profiles were obtained. According to the results, the primary air outlet cone structure of the centrally fuel rich burner was matching a 670 ton per hour boiler. The performance of the burner on a 670 ton per hour boiler was studied.

      • Alkaloids of Linderae Radix suppressed the lipopolysaccharide-induced expression of cytokines in cultured macrophage RAW 264.7 cells

        David Jiyao Chou,Kelly Yinching Lam,Jianping Chen,Ping Yao,Tina Tingxia Dong,Aizhen Xiong,Guixin Chou,Zhengtao Wang,Karl Wah-Keung Tsim 셀메드 세포교정의약학회 2014 셀메드 (CellMed) Vol.4 No.4

Linderae Radix, the dry roots of Lindera aggregata (Sims) Kosterm, has long been used as traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of inflammatory diseases. The total alkaloids are believed to be the active components responsible for anti-inflammation of Linderae Radix. Here, the total alkaloids of Linderae Radix were extracted and isolated, including 12 isoquinoline alkaloids and 1 furan sesquiterpene. Within the alkaloids, norisoboldine, boldine, linderaline, isoboldine, reticuline, N-methyllaurotetanine, norjuziphine were found to be the major ingredients. In lipopolysaccharide-treated macrophage RAW 264.7 cells, application of Linderae Radix extract, or total alkaloids, suppressed the transcription of pro-inflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1β and interleukin-6. Out of the 12 alkaloids, norisoboldine, boldine, and isoboldine were tested in lipopolysaccharide-treated macrophages, and norisoboldine was the strongest alkaloid in suppressing the cytokine expressions. The current studies suggested that the identification of alkaloids from Linderae Radix could provide a plausible explanation for herbal therapeutic functions.
