        Econometrical Investigation on Infrastructure Investment and Economic Development in China: A Case Study Using Vector Autoregression Approach

        Over the decades, numerous studies have been conducted on investigating the relationship between economic development and infrastructure investment with a wide range of results. Targeting developing countries, this study analyzed this relationship using Gross Domestic Product (GDP), railway mileage, and highway mileage from Year 1964 to Year 2004 in China within the general Vector Autoregression (VAR) framework. Non-stationarity test showed that the selected macroeconomic variables are non-stationary with integration order 1. In addition, cointegration and error correction analyses showed that the selected variables are cointegrated with positive contribution of railway investment to GDP and negative contribution of highway investment to GDP in the long run. The findings are discussed and argued as in agreement with the infrastructure development situation in China. Social and economic situations relating to the analysis are discussed, based on which future research is recommended on handling the data generating mechanism change and the social and economic diversity across different regions in China.

        An Improved and Efficient Analytical Model for Magnetic Field Calculation in Linear Permanent Magnet Machines

        A simple and improved analytical model (AM) for linear permanent magnet synchronous machine (LPMSM) based on the correction factor is presented in this paper. A slotless linear permanent magnet machine (PLPM) with AM developed in Cartesian coordinate is selected to investigate. Consequently, the fitting equations of curvature factors for the permanent magnet and armature are obtained. The subdomains for LPMSM are simplified from 6 down to 3 domains based on curvature equations. The magnetic flux density and force show that the proposed approach agrees with the finite element (FE) model. Moreover, the reduced calculation domains and harmonic orders make AM proposed in the paper much faster. The main contribution of the work is to present a simple strategy for coordinate transformation and calculation strategy for LPMSM, which provides guideline for designers to investigate the machines developed in Cartesian coordinate.

        Silencing of Long Non-Coding RNA MALAT1 Promotes Apoptosis of Glioma Cells

        The metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcription 1 (MALAT1) is a highly conserved long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene. However, little is known about the pathological role of lncRNA MALAT1 in glioma. In the present study, we explored the expression level of lncRNA MALAT1 in primary glioma tissues as well as in U87 and U251 glioma cell lines. Using qRT-PCR, we found that the expression of lncRNA MALAT1 was significantly increased in glioma tissues compared with that of paracancerous tissues. Meanwhile, the expression of MALAT1 was highly expressed in U98 and U251 cells. In order to explore the function of MALAT1, the expression of MALAT1 was greatly reduced in U87 and U251 cells transfected with siRNA specifically targeting MALAT1. Consequently, cell viability of U87 and U251 cells were drastically decreased after the knockdown of MALAT1. Concomitantly, the apoptosis rate of the two cell lines was dramatically increased. Furthermore, the expression levels of some tumor markers were reduced after the knockdown of MALAT1, such as CCND1 and MYC. In summary, the current study indicated a promoting role of MALAT1 in the development of glioma cell.

        Constructions of quantum Bose–Chadhuri–Hocquenghem code using spectral techniques

        <P>A quantum Bose–Chadhuri–Hocquenghem (BCH) code is constructed over <I>F</I><SUP><I>n</I></SUP><SUB><I>p</I><SUP><I>m</I></SUP></SUB> in the spectrum domain by employing Fourier transform. The constructed code may be employed to describe the characters of the quantum code over <I>F</I><SUP><I>n</I></SUP><SUB><I>p</I></SUB> in the time domain. Each quantum state of the proposed code has certain specified consecutive spectral components equalling zeros, and the error-correcting ability of the code can hence be determined by the number of consecutive zeros in its parity spectrums. Moreover, the decoding process may be performed more efficiently by using the spectrum techniques rather than by using the traditional methods.</P>

        대기연직구조 분류에 따른 서울지역 강한 강수 특성 연구

        In this study, the atmospheric vertical structure (AVS) associated with summertime (June, July, and August) heavy rainfall in Seoul was classified into three patterns (Loaded Gun: L, Inverted V: IV, and Thin Tube: TT) using rawinsonde soundings launched at Osan from 2009 to 2018. The characteristics of classified AVS and precipitation property were analyzed. Occurrence frequencies in each type were 34.7% (TT-type), 20.4% (IV-type), 20.4% (LG-type), and 24.5% (Other-type), respectively. The mean value of Convective Available Potential Energy (1131.1 J kg−1) for LGtypes and Storm Relative Helicity (357.6 m2s−2) for TT-types was about 2 times higher than that of other types, which seems to be the difference in the mechanism of convection at the low level atmosphere. The composited synoptic fields in all cases showed a pattern that warm and humid southwesterly wind flows into the Korean Peninsula. In the cases of TT-type, the low pressure center (at 850 hPa) was followed by the trough in upper-level (at 500 hPa) as the typical pattern of a low pressure deepening. The TT-type was strongly influenced by the low level jet (at 850 hPa), showing a pattern of connecting the upper- and low-level jets. The result of analysis indicated that precipitation was intensified in the first half of all types. IV-type precipitation induced by thermal instability tended to last for a short term period with strong precipitation intensity, while TT-type by mechanical instability showed weak precipitation over a long term period. 본 연구는 서울에서 강한 강수와 관련된 대기연직구조를 객관적으로 분류하고 대표 종관장과 강수 특성을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2009년부터 2018년까지 여름철 (6~8월) 서울에서 강한 강수(>15 mm hr−1) 시 오산에서 비양 된 레윈존데 자료에 객관적 방법을 적용하여 대기연직구조를 분류하였다. 그 결과 대기 전체가 습윤한 형태인 Thin Tube (TT) 형이 34.7% (17회), 건조한 하층 위로 습윤한 층이 존재하는 Inverted V (IV) 형이 20.4% (10회), 습윤한 하층 위로 건조한 공기가 침투하는 Loaded Gun (LG)이 20.4% (10회)로 분석되었다. TT형의 경우 SRH 값이 357.6 J kg−1 으로 역학적 불안정이 큰 반면, LG와 IV형의 경우 1000 hPa부터 600 hPa까지 열적 불안정이 큰 특징을 보였다. NCEP/FNL 자료를 사용한 합성장 분석에서 TT형의 경우 기압골 전면(500 hPa)인 서해상에 저기압이 위치하여 (850 hPa) 저기압이 강화될 수 있는 종관 패턴이 형성되었다. IV와 LG형의 경우 북만주와 중국의 북동에 강한 저기압이 위치하는 종관 패턴을 보이며, 기압경도에 의한 남서기류의 유입이 상대적으로 약하였다. 강수 전반부에 강수가 집중되는 형태가 모든 유형에서 나타났으며, 특히 IV형의 경우 강수 전반 높은 강도로 강수가 집중되어 내린다. TT형의 경우 가장 많은 강수량(123.9 mm)을 보였지만 다른 유형과 비교하였을 때, 강수가 전·후반 고르게 오랜 시간 지속되는 특징을 보였다. 본 연구 결과는 서울에서 강수와 관련된 고층관측자료의 이해도를 높이는 동시에 강수 예보기술 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

        SsPsaH, a H subunit of the photosystem I reaction center of Suaeda salsa, confers the capacity of osmotic adjustment in tobacco

        Background: Abiotic stress effects agricultural production, so research on improving stress tolerance of crop is important. Suaeda salsa is a halophyte with high salt and drought tolerance and ability to desalinate saline soil and improve soil quality. Objective: To discover and utilize of salt and drought tolerance-related genes, we further investigated the mechanisms of salt and drought tolerance. Methods: Through screening a salt treated Suaeda salsa cDNA library and further cloning a H subunit of the photosystem I reaction center SsPsaH cDNA, and then the protein domain and phylogenetic analyses of PSI genes was conducted with the NCBI Blast, DNAMAN, and MotifScan programs. The S. salsa seedlings were subjected to various stress treatments and analyze expression of SsPsaH under these treatments by real-time RT-PCR. SsPsaH expression construct was introduced into S. pombe cells by electroporation and transformed into N. tabacum plants by the leaf disc transformation method. Results: A member of the H subunit of the Photosystem I reaction center (defined as SsPsaH) was obtained. The expression of SsPsaH was up-regulated by abscisic acid (ABA), salt, and drought stress treatments. Over-expressing SsPsaH in recombinant yeasts enhanced high salinity tolerance and increased tolerance to sorbitol during seed germination and seedling root development in tobacco, respectively. Some stress-related mark genes such as a LEA family gene of NtLEA, a binding protein of a drought response element of NtDREB, the ascorbate peroxidase gene (NtAPX) were also up-regulated in SsPsaH overexpressing transgenic tobacco lines. Conclusions: These results show that SsPsaH may contribute to the salt and osmotic stress response of plants.

        Path Tracking and Local Obstacle Avoidance for Automated Vehicle Based on Improved Artificial Potential Field

        This study proposes an improved artificial potential field (APF) by considering the cooperative control of local obstacle avoidance and path tracking for automated vehicles. We established the path gravitational potential field (GPF) based on the scheduled path (SP), including the lateral and longitudinal GPFs, to enable the automated vehicle to quickly return to the SP and track after obstacle avoidance, while maintaining control of speed for the entire process. To address the local optimal solution problem of the classical APF, we proposed a sub-target-point selection strategy based on the information of obstacles and SP and established the GPF of the sub-target points. Thus, the automated vehicle can avoid obstacles and quickly return to the SP. Furthermore, the relative velocity of the automated vehicle and the obstacle was used to establish the velocity repulsion potential field (RPF), which improved the adaptability of the APF to dynamic obstacles. The simulation results indicate that the improved APF is capable of cooperative control of path tracking and local obstacle avoidance.         A Resting-state Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study of Whole-brain Functional Connectivity of Voxel Levels in Patients With Irritable Bowel Syndrome With Depressive Symptoms

        Background/Aims Depressive symptom is one of the most common symptoms in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but its pathogenetic mechanisms remain unclear. As a voxel-level graph theory analysis method, degree centrality (DC) can provide a new perspective for exploring the abnormalities of whole-brain functional network of IBS with depressive symptoms (DEP-IBS). Methods DC, voxel-wise image and clinical symptoms correlation and seed-based functional connectivity (FC) analyses were performed in 28 DEP-IBS patients, 21 IBS without depressive symptoms (nDEP-IBS) patients and 36 matched healthy controls (HC) to reveal the abnormalities of whole brain FC in DEP-IBS. Results Compared to nDEP-IBS patients and HC, DEP-IBS patients showed significant decrease of DC in the left insula and increase of DC in the left precentral gyrus. The DC’s z-scores of the left insula negatively correlated with depression severity in DEP-IBS patients. Compared to nDEP-IBS patients, DEP-IBS patients showed increased left insula-related FC in the left inferior parietal lobule and right inferior occipital gyrus, and decreased left insula-related FC in the left precentral gyrus, right supplementary motor area (SMA), and postcentral gyrus. In DEP-IBS patients, abstracted clusters’ mean FC in the right SMA negatively correlated with depressive symptoms. Conclusions DEP-IBS patients have abnormal FC in brain regions associated with the fronto-limbic and sensorimotor networks, especially insula and SMA, which explains the vicious circle between negative emotion and gastrointestinal symptoms in IBS. Identification of such alterations may facilitate earlier and more accurate diagnosis of depression in IBS, and development of effective treatment strategies.
