Research on theoretical optimization and experimental verification of minimum resistance hull form based on Rankine source method

Bao-Ji Zhang,Zhu-Xin Zhang 대한조선학회 2015 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.7 No.5

To obtain low resistance and high efficiency energy-saving ship, minimum total resistance hull form design method is studied based on potential flow theory of wave-making resistance and considering the effects of tail viscous separation. With the sum of wave resistance and viscous resistance as objective functions and the parameters of B-Spline function as design variables, mathematical models are built using Nonlinear Programming Method (NLP) ensuring the basic limit of displacement and considering rear viscous separation. We develop ship lines optimization procedures with intellectual property rights. Series60 is used as parent ship in optimization design to obtain improved ship (Series60-1) theoretically. Then drag tests for the improved ship (Series60-1) is made to get the actual minimum total resistance hull form.

Transverse vibration of flexible hoisting rope with time-varying length

        Ji-hu Bao,Peng Zhang,Chang-Ming Zhu,Wei Sun 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.2

The nonlinear vibration of a flexible hoisting rope with time-varying length is investigated. The governing equations of the flexible hoistingrope are developed based on Hamilton’s principle. Experiments performed evaluated the theoretical model and found that the experimentaldata agree well with the theoretical prediction, which validates the mathematical model of the flexible hoisting system. The resultsof the simulations and experiments show that the flexible hoisting system dissipates energy during downward movement (thus is stabilized)and gains energy during upward movement (thus is unstabilized). In addition, a passage through resonance in the hoisting system withperiodic external excitation is analyzed. Due to the time-varying length of the hoisting rope the natural frequencies of the system varyslowly, and transient resonance may occur when one of the frequencies coincides with the frequency of an external excitation.

      • Steroid Receptor Coactivator-3 Promotes Bladder Cancer Through Upregulation of CXCR4

Zhang, Yu,Wang, Ji-Hong,Liu, Bin,Qu, Ping-Bao Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.6

The three homologous members of the p160 SRC family (SRC-1, SRC-2 and SRC-3) mediate the transcriptional functions of nuclear receptors and other transcription factors, and are the most studied of all the transcriptional co-activators. Recent work has indicated that the SRC-3 gene is subject to amplification and overexpression in various human cancers. Some of the molecular mechanisms responsible for SRC overexpression, along with the mechanisms by which SRC-3 promotes breast and prostate cancer cell proliferation and survival, have been identified. However, the function of SRC-3 in bladder cancer remains poorly understood. In the present study, our results indicate that overexpression of SRC-3 promotes bladder cancer cell proliferation whereas knockdown of SRC-3 results in inhibition. At the molecular level, we further established that CXCR4 is a transcriptional target of SRC-3. Therefore, our study first identified that SRC-3 plays a critical role in the bladder cancer, which may be a target beneficial for its prevention and treatment.

Effects of Dietary L-carnosine and Alpha-lipoic Acid on Growth Performance, Blood Thyroid Hormones and Lipid Profiles in Finishing Pigs

        Bao, Yinghui,Gao, Chunqi,Hao, Wenbo,Ji, Cheng,Zhao, Lihong,Zhang, Jianyun,Liu, Tao,Ma, Qiugang Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2015 Animal Bioscience Vol.28 No.10

The present study was conducted to determine the effects of L-carnosine (LC) and/or alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) supplementation on growth performance, blood thyroid hormones and lipid profiles in finishing pigs. A total of 40 ($Landrace{\times}Yorkshire$) pigs with an initial body weight of $57.93{\pm}3.14kg$ were randomly allocated to 4 experimental diets using a $2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement with 2 LC supplemental levels (0 or 0.1%) and 2 ALA supplemental levels (0 or 0.03%) in basal diets. The results showed that pigs fed LC-supplemented diets increased final live weight, average daily gain, and average daily feed intake compared to those of pigs fed without LC-supplemented diets (p<0.05). Dietary supplementation with ALA did not affect the growth performance and carcass traits of pigs (p>0.05). Additionally, LC supplementation increased serum triiodothyronine, thyroxine levels, and ALA supplementation increased serum triiodothyronine levels (p<0.05). Serum total cholesterol and triglycerides levels were significantly decreased in LC and ALA supplemented groups, respectively (p<0.05). Moreover, serum low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were lower in the ALA-supplemented groups than those of pigs fed without ALA-supplemented diets (p<0.05). However, no significant $LC{\times}ALA$ interaction effect on growth performance, blood thyroid hormones and lipid profiles was found. This study suggested that dietary supplementation of LC resulted in better growth performance compared to that of ALA supplementation. L-carnosine and/or ALA supplementation positively modified blood lipid profiles, which may have the potential to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

LincR-PPP2R5C Promotes Th2 Cell Differentiation Through PPP2R5C/PP2A by Forming an RNA–DNA Triplex in Allergic Asthma

        Ji Ningfei,Chen Zhongqi,Wang Zhengxia,Sun Wei,Yuan Qi,Zhang Xijie,Jia Xinyu,Wu Jingjing,Jiang Jingxian,Song Meijuan,Xu Tingting,Liu Yanan,Ma Qiyun,Sun Zhixiao,Bao Yanmin,Zhang Mingshun,Huang Mao 대한천식알레르기학회 2024 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.16 No.1

Purpose: The roles and mechanisms of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in T helper 2 (Th2) differentiation from allergic asthma are poorly understood. We aimed to explore a novel lncRNA, LincR-protein phosphatase 2 regulatory subunit B' gamma (PPP2R5C), in Th2 differentiation in a mouse model of asthma. Methods: LincR-PPP2R5C from RNA-seq data of CD4+ T cells of asthma-like mice were validated and confirmed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, northern blotting, nuclear and cytoplasmic separation, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Lentiviruses encoding LincR-PPP2R5C or shRNA were used to overexpress or silence LincR-PPP2R5C in CD4+ T cells. The interactions between LincR-PPP2R5C and PPP2R5C were explored with western blotting, chromatin isolation by RNA purification assay, and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. An ovalbumin-induced acute asthma model in knockout (KO) mice (LincR-PPP2R5C KO, CD4 conditional LincR-PPP2R5C KO) was established to explore the roles of LincR-PPP2R5C in Th2 differentiation. Results: LncR-PPP2R5C was significantly higher in CD4+ T cells from asthmatic mice ex vivo and Th2 cells in vitro. The lentivirus encoding LincR-PPP2R5C suppressed Th1 differentiation; in contrast, the short hairpin RNA (shRNA) lentivirus decreased LincR-PPP2R5C and Th2 differentiation. Mechanistically, LincR-PPP2R5C deficiency suppressed the phosphatase activity of the protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) holocomplex, resulting in a decline in Th2 differentiation. The formation of an RNA-DNA triplex between LincR-PPP2R5C and the PPP2R5C promoter enhanced PPP2R5C expression and activated PP2A. LincR-PPP2R5C KO and CD4 conditional KO decreased Th2 differentiation, airway hyperresponsiveness and inflammatory responses. Conclusions: LincR-PPP2R5C regulated PPP2R5C expression and PP2A activity by forming an RNA-DNA triplex with the PPP2R5C promoter, leading to Th2 polarization in a mouse model of acute asthma. Our data presented the first definitive evidence of lncRNAs in the regulation of Th2 cells in asthma.

Eco-friendly Polypyrrole-coated Cocozelle Composites for Supercapacitor Application

        Hui Ji,Chuanjie Zhang,Weida Rao,Bin Guo,Lingling Fan,Zikui Bai,Haifeng Bao,Jie Xu 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.6

Cocozelle is essentially consisted of hemicellulose and lignin with a hierarchically porous structure. Herein, cocozelle slices after freeze-drying were employed as green substrates to support the growth of polypyrrole (PPy) via a facileoxidative polymerization approach. The cocozelle surface was densely covered with sheet-like PPy due to the hydrogenbonding between PPy and cocozelle. The PPy/cocozelle composites could be facilely utilized as supercapacitor electrodes, which showed a high specific capacitance of 1108 F g-1 with an energy density of 70.5 Wh kg-1 and a power density of398 W kg-1 at a charge/discharge current density of 0.8 mA cm-2 as well as desirable cycling life with a capacitance retentionrate of 76.9 % after 1000 cycles. Moreover, 95.3 % of the initial specific capacitance obtained at 0.2 mA cm-2 could bereached as the current density increased to 1.6 mA cm-2. These results demonstrate that cocozelle could be used as a superioralternative biomass-derived substrate for the developments of eco-friendly and renewable energy storage devices.

The electronic and magnetic properties with intrinsic defects in ZnO nanosheets: First-principles prediction

        Fu-Bao Zheng,Chang-Wen Zhang,Pei-Ji Wang,Hang-Xing Luan 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.4

Using full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method, we investigated the effects of intrinsic vacancies on electronic and magnetic properties in graphene-like ZnO nanosheets. The results show that the oxygen vacancy (VO) has no influence on magnetism in ZnO nanosheet, whereas the Zn vacancy (VZn) lead to spin polarization of the nanostructures with a total magnetic moment of 2.0mB due to O-2p and Zn-3d hybridization. When the distance of two VZn defects increases to 6.499 A, the system shows an intriguing half-metallic character with 100% spin-polarized carriers due to O(2p)-Zn(3d)-O(2p) coupling chain between two VZn defects.

Boundary layer effect of light transmission through ionic liquid under electric field

        Zhou Ji,Zheng Yi,Dong Shikui,He Zhihong,Liu Bao,Zhang Yanhu 한국물리학회 2023 Current Applied Physics Vol.52 No.-

The field strength distribution in the ionic liquid boundary layer under the action of an external electric field is non-uniform. Whether its transmittance (absorption coefficient) spatially varies arouses our interest in exploring the underlying laws. In this paper, with the help of an infrared microscope, a special experimental device was designed and established. The transmittance in the ionic liquid (methyl propyl imidazole iodide, C3MImI) at different distances from the electrodes (cathode, anode) was measured under electric voltages from 0 V to 0.5 V. Results showed that transmittances of ionic liquid at the boundary layer present nonlinear change with the nonlinear electronic strength under the different applied voltage, and there is a critical threshold (0.2 V) distinguishes the sensitive and non-sensitive responses to the electric field. Our study provides a physical basis for microscale electro-optic regulation and is significant, especially for precise regulation of light field transmittance in micro-nano channels/structures.
