Energy-Efficient Adaptive Dynamic Sensor Scheduling for Target Monitoring in Wireless Sensor Networks

        Jian Zhang,Cheng-dong Wu,Yun-zhou Zhang,Peng Ji 한국전자통신연구원 2011 ETRI Journal Vol.33 No.6

Due to uncertainties in target motion and randomness of deployed sensor nodes, the problem of imbalance of energy consumption arises from sensor scheduling. This paper presents an energy-efficient adaptive sensor scheduling for a target monitoring algorithm in a local monitoring region of wireless sensor networks. Owing to excessive scheduling of an individual node, one node with a high value generated by a decision function is preferentially selected as a tasking node to balance the local energy consumption of a dynamic clustering, and the node with the highest value is chosen as the cluster head. Others with lower ones are in reserve. In addition, an optimization problem is derived to satisfy the problem of sensor scheduling subject to the joint detection probability for tasking sensors. Particles of the target in particle filter algorithm are resampled for a higher tracking accuracy. Simulation results show this algorithm can improve the required tracking accuracy, and nodes are efficiently scheduled. Hence, there is a 41.67% savings in energy consumption.

      • MCPH1 Protein Expression in Normal and Neoplastic Lung Tissues

        Zhang, Ji,Wu, Xiao-Bin,Fan, Jian-Jun,Mai, Li,Cai, Wei,Li, Dan,Yuan, Cheng-Fu,Bu, You-Quan,Song, Fang-Zhou Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.12

Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related death in the world. The main types are small-cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), the latter including squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), adenocarcinoma and large cell carcinoma. NSCLCs account for about 80% of all lung cancer cases. Microcephalin (MCPH1), also called BRIT1 (BRCT-repeat inhibitor of hTERT expression), plays an important role in the maintenance of genomic stability. Recently, several studies have provided evidence that the expression of MCPH1 gene is decreased in several different types of human cancers. We evaluated the expression of protein MCPH1 in 188 lung cancer and 20 normal lung tissues by immunohistochemistry. Positive MCPH1 staining was found in all normal lung samples and only some cancerous tissues. MCPH1-positive cells were significantly lower in lung carcinoma compared with normal tissues. Furthermore, we firstly found that MCPH1 expression in lung adenocarcinoma is higher than its expression in squamous cell carcinoma. Change in MCPH1 protein expression may be associated with lung tumorigenesis and may be a useful biomarker for identification of pathological types of lung cancer.

Adaptive Exponential Synchronization in pth Moment of Neutral-Type Neural Networks with Time Delays and Markovian Switching

        Wuneng Zhou,Yan Gao,Dongbing Tong,Chuan Ji,Jian’an Fang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.4

In this letter, the analysis problem of adaptive exponential synchronization in pth moment is considered for neutral-type neural networks with time delays and Markovian switching. By utilizing a new nonnegative function and the M-matrix approach, several sufficient conditions to ensure the adaptive exponential synchronization in pth moment for neutral-type neural networks are derived. Via the adaptive feedback control techniques, some suitable parameters update laws are found. To illustrate the effectiveness of the M-matrix-based synchronization conditions derived in this letter, numerical example is provided finally.

Sequence analysis and expression profiles of TaABI5, a pre-harvest sprouting resistance gene in wheat

        Ke Zhou,Jian Yang,Zao-Xia Wang,Ji-Rui Wang 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.2

Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is the germination of grains in the spike under wet conditions before harvest, which causes a severe reduction in crop yield and flour quality. The phytohormone abscisic acid plays a key role in regulating seed dormancy, which inhibits pre-harvest spouting or vivipary for many important crops. TaABI5, belonging to a family of basic leucine zipper transcription factors could regulate a subset of late embryogenesis abundant genes during seed development, was isolated and characterized. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that TaABI5 homologous gene belonged to the ABI5 subgroup of the ABF/AREB/ABI5 subfamily. TaABI5 consist of four conserved domains and one bZip domain. The expression pattern of TaABI5 indicated that it was seed-specific and accumulated at late stages of seed development. Accumulation of TaABI5 in synthetic hexaploid wheat SHW-L1 (PHS resistance) was 8.93-fold higher than that in wheat cultivar Chuanmai 32 (PHS susceptible) at 25 days post anthesis. Four expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) of TaABI5 on chromosome 2DS, 4DS, 6DS, and 7DL were characterized from SHW-L1/Chuanmai 32 derived recombinant inbred line population.

      • Association between Ras association domain family 1A Promoter Methylation and Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: a Meta-analysis

Yang, Jian-Zhou,Ji, Ai-Fang,Wang, Jin-Sheng,Chen, Zhong-Yi,Wen, Shi Wu Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.9

RASSF1A has been reported to be a candidate tumor suppressor in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, the association between RASSF1A promoter methylation and ESCC remains unclear. Eligible studies were identified through searching PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, and the China National Knowledge Infrastucture database. Studies were pooled and odds ratios (ORs) with corresponding confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Funnel plots were also performed to evaluate publication bias. Twelve studies involving 859 cases and 675 controls were included in this meta-analysis. A significant association was observed between RASSF1A methylation and ESCC overall (OR = 11.7, 95% CI: 6.59-20.9, z=8.36, P<0.00001). Subgroup analysis showed that the OR for heterogeneous tissues was 5.35 (95% CI = 2.95-9.71) while for autologous tissues it was 16.0 (8.31-30.96). For patient sample size, the OR for the <50 subgroup was 9.92 (95% CI = 2.88-34.2) and for the 50 case group was 13.1 (95% CI = 6.59-25.91). The OR for a relationship between RASSF1A methylation and TNM stages was 0.27 (95% CI=0.10-0.77), whereas there were no significant differences in RASSF1A methylation in relation to gender and differentiation among ESCC cases. This meta-analysis suggests a significant association between RASSF1A methylation and ESCC.

      • Determination of two HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, pravastatin and pitavastatin, in plasma samples using liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry for pharmaceutical study

        Deng, Jian-Wei,Kim, Kwon-Bok,Song, Im-Sook,Shon, Ji-Hong,Zhou, Hong-Hao,Liu, Kwang-Hyeon,Shin, Jae-Gook John Wiley Sons, Ltd. 2008 Biomedical chromatography Vol.22 No.2

<P>We developed a method for determining pravastatin or pitavastatin, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors, in plasma using liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). Pravastatin, pitavastatin and the internal standard fluvastatin were extracted from plasma with solid-phase extraction columns and eluted with methanol. After drying the organic layer, the residue was reconstituted in mobile phase (acetonitrile:water, 90:10, v/v) and injected onto a reversed-phase C18 column. The isocratic mobile phase was eluted at 0.2 mL/min. The ion transitions recorded in multiple reaction monitoring mode were m/z 423 → 101, 420 → 290 and 410 → 348 for pravastatin, pitavastatin and fluvastatin, respectively. The coefficient of variation of the assay precision was less than 12.4%, the accuracy exceeded 89%. The limit of detection was 1 ng/mL for all analytes. This method was used to measure the plasma concentration of pitavastatin or pravastatin from healthy subjects after a single 4 mg oral dose of pitavastatin or 40 mg oral dose of pravastatin. This is a very simple, sensitive and accurate analytic method to determine the pharmacokinetic profiles of pitavastatin or pravastatiny. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.</P>

Three New 11,20-Epoxy-ent-kauranoids from Isodon rubescens

        Xu Liu,Ji Zhou Wu,Rui Zhan,Wei Guang Wang,Xue Du,Yan Li,Peng Zhang,Jian Xin Pu,Han Dong Sun 대한약학회 2012 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.35 No.12

Three rare and new 11,20-epoxy-ent-kaurane diterpenoids, named jianshirubesins D-F (1-3), along with one known analogue (4), were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon rubescens. Their structures were established by analysis of spectroscopic data. Found in the MTT assay to evaluate the cytotoxicity of compounds 1, 2, and 4, only 1 could selectively inhibit certain cell lines from proliferating. In addition, a simple structure-activity relationship discussion might suggest a new bioactive moiety, different from the α,β-unsaturated ketone group.

Development of a simple nomogram to estimate risk for intraoperative complications before partial nephrectomy based on the Mayo Adhesive Probability score combined with the RENAL nephrometry score

        Xiaojun Tan,Dachun Jin,Jian Hu,Weili Zhang,Yu Zhou,Yunxiang Li,Yuanfeng Zhang,Ji Wu 대한비뇨의학회 2021 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.62 No.4

Purpose: This study aimed to develop a simple nomogram based on the Mayo Adhesive Probability (MAP) score combined with the RENAL nephrometry score (RNS) to predict intraoperative complications before partial nephrectomy (PN) in Asian populations. Materials and Methods: This study retrospectively collected patients undergoing PN at three medical centers. Each component of the MAP score and the RNS (6 variables) was evaluated to assess its association with intraoperative complications by multivariable logistic regression with backward elimination. Results: A total of 46 cases (7.2%) with intraoperative complications were identified among 637 patients. After backward elimination, three variables, including tumor diameter (4–7 cm vs. ≤4 cm: odds ratio [OR], 4.339; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.943–9,692; ≥7 cm vs. ≤4 cm: OR, 8.434; 95% CI, 1.225–58.090), nearness to the collecting system (4–7 mm vs. ≥7 mm: OR, 2.988; 95% CI, 1.293–6.907; ≤4 mm vs. ≥7 mm: OR, 21.394; 95% CI, 6.122–74.756), and perirenal fat stranding type (type 1 vs. no stranding: OR, 3.119; 95% CI, 1.079–9.017; type 2 vs. no stranding: OR, 18.722; 95% CI, 6.757–51.868), were retained. The predictive power (measured by area under the curve [AUC]) of the nomogram was observed to be superior to the RNS or MAP score alone (RNS: 0.686, MAP score: 0.729, the nomogram: 0.837), but comparable to their combination (0.813). Conclusions: The simple nomogram contains fewer components than the combination of the RNS and MAP scores yet demonstrates equivalent predictive power for intraoperative complications.

Effects of habitat fragmentation on the functional diversity of insects in Thousand Island Lake, China

        Tian‐Hao Tu,Ji-Rui WANG,Jian-Qiang GU,Tian-Qi LI,Kun LV,Guo-Xin ZHOU,Zhi-Hong XU 한국곤충학회 2019 Entomological Research Vol.49 No.2

Due to habitat fragmentation, the loss of species diversity has been extensively studied. On the contrary, the effects of habitat fragmentation on functional diversity is still poorly understood. In the Thousand Island Lake, we conducted studies of insect functional diversity on a set of 29 isolated islands. We used 10 functional diversity indices from three aspects (functional richness, functional evenness and functional divergence) to respectively describe functional diversity of insects on sample islands. We found the following results: (i) The functional indices selected could reflect the functional diversity of sample islands and it is further proved that in general, three components of functional diversity were independent of each other; (ii) Sample islands could be divided into two categories, island JSD and the remaining islands; (iii) Functional richness increased with island area and shape index, but had no significant correlation with isolation. Likewise, both functional evenness and functional divergence had no significant correlation with island attributes. The conclusion to emphasize from our research is that: (i) habitat fragmentation reduced the biological functional diversity to some extent, further demonstrating the importance of habitat continuity in biodiversity protection; and (ii) for functional diversity protection of insects in a fragmented landscape, an island which has high approximate shape index values of at least hundred hectare magnitude order has a critical promoting effect.
