      • TV 스포츠프로그램에 관한 고찰

        Nowadays, watching sports on TV is becoming a frame in the act of culture. Sports news, sports broadcast, and other programs that has relations with sports are developing not only with the quality of modern people but also with the relations of broadcasting company. This study aims at examining the way of studying TV sports programs and the influence of TV sports programs. It could be said that sports and television programs on sports have not been offered in-depth discussion and empirical exploration in the academic world so for, although their social influence is considerable. We firstly look over the meaning of mass media and then, we go into the study about mass media and sports. TV sports program takes social function, therefore, many theories is being used to study TV sports program. "Cultivation theory" and " Uses and gratification Approaches" are the main theories of the study on TV sports programs. At the first glance, the Cultivation Theory, which empirically analyzed the symbolic function of television as social ideological institution, and the Uses and Gratification Approaches, which contend the media audience are active rather than passive recipients, seem to be contradictory. However, if we look at the relationship between the mass media and audience not as one-way but as interactive process, it could be suggested that combining those two different theoretical worlds will be useful.

        The purpose of this study was to define the relationship between housewife's practical physical education activity, leisure satisfaction and life satisfaction. For achieving the purpose, an analysis was made over the impact of attendance at public sports center on leisure satisfaction, the influence of attendance at public sports center on life satisfaction, the relationship of leisure satisfaction to life satisfaction for those who joined public sports center, and the impact of an experience of taking part in public sports center on life satisfaction. The instruments used in this study were Beard and Ragheb(1980)'s Leisure Satisfaction Scale(LSS) and Diener, Emmoson, Larsen, and Griffin(1985)'s Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS) adapted for this study. The statistical technique employed to analysis of variance and multiple regression analysis. The findings of this study were as below: First, the housewives who attended public sports center was significantly different in leisure satisfaction from one another according to personal characteristics. A significantly better leisure satisfaction was expressed by the group that was less educated, was older, had less than 3,000 thousand won of family income, was in very good health, chose golf, or responded to seeking more meaningful life. For job, the unemployed group was slightly higher in leisure satisfaction than the employed. Second, the personal characteristics also made a significant difference to the life satisfaction of the housewives who attended public sports center. Especially, a significantly higher life satisfaction was shown by the group that was older, had less than 3,000 thousand won of family income, was in very good health, chose golf was a little higher in life satisfaction than the unemployed. But education level generated no significant difference. Third, there appeared a close relationship between the housewives' leisure satisfaction and life satisfaction and life satisfaction who attended public sports center. Fourth, when the experience of attending public sports center was considered, the housewives with more than 3-year experience, who weren't expected to drop out in the practical physical education program, expressed significantly higher leisure satisfaction and life satisfaction. As this study found that the group that had participated in practical physical education program in public sports center for more than 3 years expressed better life satisfaction, it can be concluded that practical physical education can serve to raise housewife's leisure satisfaction and life satisfaction who joins public sports center.

        한국인 알코올의존환자에서의 제1형 부신피질자극 호르몬 분비 촉진 호르몬수용체의 유전자 다형성에 관한 연구

        스트레스 반응에 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 CRHR1 유전자 SNP와 알코올 의존과의 연관성에 관한 선행 연구들이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 백인을 대상으로 조사했던 기존연구와는 달리 한국인 남녀를 대상으로 하여 알코올 의존군과 정상 대조군의 CRHR1 유전자형 빈도 및 대립유전자형 빈도를 비교하였다. 본 연구의 연구대상자들은 알코올 의존군 268명(남자 218명, 여자 50명)과 정상 대조군 137명(남자 78명, 여자 59명)이었다. CRHR1 유전자 SNP를 SNP database와 선행연구를 근거로 선정한 후, 연구 대상자들의 이러한 SNP 유전자형을 PCRRFLP방법으로 조사하였다. 그 결과, 한국인의 CRHR1 유전자 SNPs로 7개(rs242938, rs404623, rs28364027, rs16940686, rs937, rs878886, rs878887)가 분석되었다. 이중 rs28364027의 A 대립 유전자의 빈도는 남녀 각각에서 알코올 의존군이 대조군보다 유의하게 높았다. 그리고 rs28364027의 AA 유전자형 및 A 대립 유전자와 rs878886의 CC유전자형 및 C 대립유전자의 빈도는 알코올 의존군내에서 여성이 남성보다 유의하게 높았다. 이러한 결과를 종합해 보면 CRHR1 유전자 SNP가 알코올 의존의 유전적 원인의 중요한 요인일 가능성을 제시하고 있다. 또 이러한 CRHR1 유전자 SNP가 알코올 의존의 유전적 원인에서 남녀간 차이를 설명할 수 있을 가능성도 시사하고 있다. Objectives:There were several preceding studies investigating the association between alcohol dependence and corticotropine releasing hormone receptor1(CRHR1) gene SNPs that play an important role in response to stress. The frequencies of CRHR1 genotypes and alleles were compared between alcohol-dependent patients and normal control subjects. Methods:The subjects were 268 alcohol-dependent patients(218 males, 50 females) and 137 normal controls(78 male, 59 female). CRHR1 gene SNPs were investigated according to the SNP database and the results from previous studies, and their genotypes were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP). Results:Seven CRHR1 gene SNPs(rs242938, rs404623, rs28364027, rs16940686, rs937, rs878886, rs878887) were found in Korean subjects. The frequency of rs28364027 A allele was significantly higher in alcohol-dependent patients than normal controls in both genders. In alcohol-dependent patients, the frequencies of AA genotype and A allele of rs28364027, and of CC genotype and C allele of rs878886 were higher in female than male. Conclusion:These results suggest that CRHR1 gene SNP is one of the important genetic factors in the etiology of alcohol dependence. And also it is supposed that the different frequency of SNP genotype could explain stress-related gender difference in the genetic etiology of alcohol dependence.

        Thoracic surgery may be greatly facilitated by causing selective atelectasis of the lung being operated on (one-lung ventilation anesthesia). But the tube used for one-lung ventilation is greater outer diameter than conventional endotracheal tube when compare to each other with same inner diameter, so in some young children it is impossible to one-lung ventilation using double lumen tube or bronchial blocker tube because of narrow vocal cord. We performed one lung ventilation anesthesia using conventional endotracheal tube and Fogarty catheter as a bronchial blocker in 11-year old women who received lung biopsy surgery and left lower lobectomy.

      • 수종 한약제의 위암세포에 대한 항암작용 효능 검색 및 약리작용에 관한 분자생물학적 연구

        Traditional oriental medicines have ken used for tmament of various kinds of human cancers for long times and some of mem proven to k effective clinical-. However, the pItarmacologica1 actions ad mechanisms related to cancer treatment are generally unknown. In an effort to clarify the action mechanisms of several oriental medicines used for cancer treatments. we planned this experimental praedura. We selected Cadyceps sinensis (동충하초), Punellae Herba (夏柱草), Rehmanniae Radix (熟地黃), Paeoniae Radix (白均案), Oldedamar Herba (白花批告草), Partulaceae Herba (馬首算), Scdopendrasubspinipes mudans (蜈松), Mylabris Phalerara (班藝), Phellinus igniarius(蔡黃), Ganodermae Lignum(靈芝) for evaluation, which have ken used for patients of gastric cancers. The twenty grams of medicines were boiled in 100㎖ of water for 1 hour and filtered with O.2㎛ pore-sized filter unit to remove insoluble particles. Initially we evaluated the effects oriental medicines on growth inhibition in stomach cancer cells. The gastric cancer cell line, AGS, was cultured in RPMI l640 supplemented with lO% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum and Heated with lO㎕ oriental medicines per l㎖ of medium up to 48 hours. The specimens were subjected to MTT assay for evaluation of growth inhibition. We found mat Mylabris piulema (班 察) markedly supmessed the growth of cancer cells as shown in results. Next, we checked the effects of orielntl medicines on cancer on cell cycles and apMonsis. Mylabrls phalerata (반모) inhibited cell cycle progression of Canea cells a compared with connol cells and cells treated with other medicines. In addition, Mylabri phalerata (반모) induced apptosis in 30-40% of stomch cancer cells within 24 hours. Other oriental medicines used for this experiments did not show apoptosis-inducing effects on cancer cells. Finally, we determined the expmSSion levels of genes associated with cell cycle Md apoptosis. The expressions of bcl-2 and bcl-XL were downregulated by the treamerm of Mylabris phalerata (반모). However, the expression levels of genes related to cell cycles were not altered significantly. In conclusion, we found that Mylams phalerata (반모) has in vivo gowth-inhibiting ad apptosis- inducing effects on stomach cancer cells. However, we think that at least animal experiments are necessay for evduations.

        IL-33 down-regulates CLDN1 expression through the ERK/STAT3 pathway in keratinocytes

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Background</B></P> <P>Tight junctions (TJs) have important roles in skin barrier function. The TJ protein claudin-1 (CLDN1) is decreased in atopic dermatitis (AD). However, little is known about the mechanism of CLDN1 down-expression.</P> <P><B>Objective</B></P> <P>To elucidate the effect of IL-33 on CLDN1 expression in keratinocytes.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>Normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs) and human skin equivalent models (HSEMs) were cultured <I>in vitro</I> in the presence of IL-33. Production of CLDN1, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) expression were measured by real-time PCR, western blot and immunofluorescence assay. MAPK inhibitors and small interfering RNA were used to confirm the signal pathway of STAT3 and CLDN1. Barrier function was measured by transepithelial electric resistance (TEER) and FITC-dextran flux assays. Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay was used to detect STAT3 transcriptional activity.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>Levels of CLDN1 expression were reduced in the epidermis of AD-model mice overexpressing IL-33. IL-33 down-regulated the expression of CLDN1 mRNA and protein in NHEKs and HSEMs. IL-33 attenuated transepithelial electric resistance and induced FITC-dextran flux in NHEKs. The IL-33 suppressed CLDN1 expression was regulated by an extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). STAT3 suppressed CLDN1 expression by direct binding to the promoters.</P> <P><B>Conclusion</B></P> <P>IL-33 may down-regulate CLDN1 expression through the ERK/STAT3 pathway in keratinocytes.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> IL-33 may be key regulator of CLDN1 downregulation in keratinocytes. </LI> <LI> The expression of CLDN1 is regulated by ERK/STAT3 pathway in IL-33 treated keratinocytes. </LI> <LI> IL-33 reduced CLDN1 expression is regulated by direct binding of STAT3 to CLDN1 promoter region. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Two cases of methyl alcohol intoxication by sub-chronic inhalation and dermal exposure during aluminum CNC cutting in a small-sized subcontracted factory

        <P><B>Background</B></P><P>Methyl alcohol poisoning has been mainly reported in community. Two cases of methyl alcohol poisoning occurred in a small-sized subcontracted factory which manufactured smartphone parts in Korea.</P><P><B>Case presentation</B></P><P>One young female patient presented with dyspnea and visual disturbance. Another young male patient presented with visual disturbance and myalgia. They treated with sodium bicarbonate infusion and hemodialysis for metabolic acidosis. In addition, he received ethyl alcohol per oral treatment. Her and his urinary methyl alcohol concentration was detected as 7.632 mg/L, 46.8 mg/L, respectively, although they were treated hemodialysis. Results of the working environment measurement showed that the concentration of methyl alcohol (1030.1–2220.5 ppm) in the air exceeded the time weighted average (200 ppm). They were diagnosed with optic neuropathy due to methyl alcohol poisoning and still have visual impairment.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Workers who hired as dispatched employees in a small-sized subcontracted factory were exposed to high concentrations of methyl alcohol. The workplace had poor ventilation system. In addition, workers did not wear proper personal protect equipment. Working environment measurement and annual chekups for workers were not performed. They were in a blind spot to occupational safety and health. More attention is needed to protect vulnerable workers’ health.</P>

        Preoperative Shoulder MRI Findings to Predict Subscapularis Tendon Tear Requiring Surgical Repair

        Purpose This study aimed to investigate which indirect parameters on preoperative MRI were the principal predictors of subscapularis tendon tears (STTs) requiring surgical repair. Materials and Methods Preoperative MRI scans of 86 patients were retrospectively reviewed for visual assessment of the STT, pathology of the long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT), posterior decentering (PD) of the humeral head, humeral rotation, fatty degeneration, and subscapularis muscle atrophy. To evaluate atrophy, visual grading using the anatomical line connecting the coracoid tip to the glenoid base, designated as the base-to-tip line (BTL), and thickness measurements were performed in the en-face view. Results Arthroscopically, 31 patients (36%) exhibited Lafosse type III or IV STT and underwent surgical repair. LHBT pathology (p = 0.002), PD of the humeral head (p = 0.012), fatty degeneration (p < 0.001), and BTL grade (p = 0.003) significantly correlated with STT. In the multivariate analysis, PD of the humeral head (p = 0.011, odds ratio [OR] = 5.14) and fatty degeneration (p = 0.046, OR = 2.81) were independent predictors of STT. Conclusion PD of the humeral head and fatty degeneration of the subscapularis can help to diagnose clinically significant STT. Interpretation of these findings may contribute to the planning of an optimal surgical strategy.

        Molecular dynamics simulations of the diffusion and rotation of Pt nanoclusters supported on graphite

        <P>We study the diffusion and rotation of Pt nanoclusters supported on graphite. Using molecular dynamics simulation, we reveal that the supported Pt clusters have two types of bottom layers: a hexagonal lattice and a rectangular lattice. The diffusion rate of the Pt clusters mainly depends on the types of bottom layers. This observation is explained by the periodic lattice matching between the bottom layer and the graphite. In addition to lateral diffusion, we find that the Pt clusters with a rectangular or mixed lattice tend to rotate or wag on the <I>z</I> axis. By using the rotation rates and total movements of all atoms, we show that the rotation of a Pt cluster can be induced by the difference in the diffusion rates for the different types of bottom layers. This outcome is well in accord with our diffusion mechanism.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Interacting with graphite, Pt nanoclusters have two types of bottom layers: a hexagonal lattice and a rectangular lattice.
