      • Object Removal and Inpainting from Image using Combined GANs

        As recent research on deep learning methods has been actively conducted, a number of deep learning methods have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a method of removing the desired object from an image using generative adversarial networks(GANs) structure. We composed the network in which two GANs are fused. The first GAN erases the target object from the input image, and the second GAN generates an image that fills the empty space with the background. Through this network, we can erase the desired object from the input image and get an image with the erased part filled with the background without any object detection method. We show that the removal of people and vehicles from images of roads using the CityScapes Dataset.

      • Text and Sign Recognition for Indoor Localization

        In this paper, we propose a modular approach to estimate the position and rotation of any mobile robot more precisely in an indoor environment using text and sign recognition. The modular approach for the text and sign recognition is performed in a twofold method in figure 1. First is the detection of the region with texts and various signs in the image which is done by an object detection system. The second part is the character recognition, where the detected textual region from the image will be passed onto an optical character recognition engine(OCR) engine to be recognized. This modular approach can be modified at any point based on any mobile robot in an indoor environment with texts and signs to help localize its position and rotation.

        대기 중 이산화탄소 (CO2)는 산업 기간 동안 278에서 415ppm으로 증가했으며 기후 변화에 중대한 영향을 미쳤습니다. 이러한 위기에 대응하여 탄소 포집, 활용 및 저장/격리 (CCUS) 기술이 연구되었습니다. 그러나 지금까지 기존 전환 기술의 경제성은 부진한 CO2 전환으로 인해 여전히 불충분합니다. 여기에서 우리는 전기 에너지와 수소 (H2)를 생성하기 위해 수용액에서 CO2의 자발적인 용해로 인한 산성도를 활용하는 수계 아연-, 알루미늄-및 마그네슘-CO2 시스템을 보고합니다. 이 시스템은 알칼리 및 중성 조건 하에서 전형적인 HER 와 비교하여 0.4V 만큼 양의 변화된 수소 발생 반응 (HER) 개시 전위를 가지며 34mV dec-의 낮은 Tafel 기울기로 HER 반응을 용이하게 합니다. Al-CO2 시스템의 최대 전력 밀도는 125mW cm<sup>-2</sup> 로 CO2 활용 전기 화학 시스템 중 가장 높은 값입니다. 이론적으로는 10kW 규모의 금속 -CO2 시스템에서 10,000L (약 1kg H2)의 수소 (H2) 가스를 생산할 수 있고 각각 시간당 30kg의 CO2를 제거할 수 있습니다. Atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) has increased from 278 to 415 parts per million (ppm) over the industrial period and has critically impacted climate change. In response to this crisis, carbon capture, utilization, and storage/sequestration (CCUS) technologies have been studied. So far, however, the economic feasibility of the existing conversion technologies is still inadequate owing to sluggish CO2 conversion. Herein, we report an aqueous zinc–, aluminum–, and Mg-CO2 system that utilizes acidity from spontaneous dissolution of CO2 in aqueous solution to generate electrical energy and hydrogen (H2). The system has a positively shifted onset potential of hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by 0.4 V compared to a typical HER under alkaline conditions and facile HER kinetics with low Tafel slope of 34 mV dec-1. The Al–CO2 system has a maximum power density of 125 mW cm<sup>-2</sup> which is the highest value among CO2 utilization electrochemical system. Theoretically, in 10 kW-scale metal-CO2 system, the 10,000 L (about 1 kg H2) of hydrogen (H2) gas could be produced and 30 kg of CO2 could be removed per hour, respectively.

        중추신경자극제를 사용할 수 없는 주의력결핍과잉행동장애 아동에서의 Modafinil 효과 : 예비 연구

        Objectives : This study was aimed to examine the efficacy and safety of modafinil in psychostimulant-inapplicable children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) due to insufficient treatment response or intolerable adverse effects. Methods : Fifteen children (8.8±1.8 years, 14 boys, total IQ 107.22±13.4) were recruited for this study. ADHD was confirmed by K-SADS-PL. The efficacy was assessed by ADHD rating scale (ADHDRS), Conner's parental rating scale-revised(CPRS-R), ADHDRS school version, clinical global impression (CGI) and computerized neurocognitive function test. Mean dose of modafnil was 250. 0±103.3 mg. Results : Total score (p=0.012) and hyperactive/impulsive score (p=0.021) of ADHDRS for investigator, as well as CPRS-R score (p<0.01) and CGI-severity score (p<0.01) were significantly reduced after 39.2±8.7 days of modafmil administration. Response time of word color test was also significantly decreased after medication. Decreased appetite (2 subjects), insomnia (2 subjects), irritability (1 subject) and alopecia (1 subject) were observed during this study period. Conclusion : Modafinil was effective and well-tolerated for the psychostimulant-inapplicable children with ADHD.

        백서 편측 설신경 손상 후 미각 및 설유두의 변화에 대한 연구

        Purpose of study: Lingual nerve damage can be caused by surgery or trauma such as physical irriatation, radiation, chemotherapy, infection and viral infection. Once nerve damage occurred, patients sometimes complain taste change and loss of taste along with serious disturbance of tongue. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of unilateral lingual nerve transection on taste as well as on the maintenance of taste buds. Materials & Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 220-250g received unilateral transection of lingual nerve, subjected to the preference test for various taste solutions (0.1M NaCl, 0.1M sucrose, 0.01M QHCl, or 0.01M HCl) with two bottle test paradigm at 2, 4, 6, or 8 weeks after the operation. Tongue was fixed with 8% paraformaldehyde. After fixation, they were observed with scanning electron microscope(JSM-840A, JEOL, JAPAN) and counted the number of the dorsal surface of the fungiform papilla for changes of fungiform papilla. And, Fungiform papilla were obtained from coronal sections of the anterior tongue(cryosection). After cryosection, immunostaining with Gαgust(I-20)(Santa Cruz Biotechnology, USA), PLCβ2(Q-15)(Santa Cruz Biotechnology, USA), and T1R1(Alpha Diagnostic International, USA) were done. Immunofluorescence of labeled taste bud cells was examined by confocal microscopy(F92-300, Olympus, JAPAN). Results: The preference score for salty and sweet tended to be higher in the operated rats with statistical significance, compared to the sham rats. Fungiform papilla counting were decreased after lingual nerve transaction. In 2 weeks, maximum differences occurred. Gustducin and T1R1 expressions of taste receptor in 2 and 4 weeks were decreased. PLCβ2 were not expressed in both experimental and control group. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the taste recognition for sweet and salty taste changed by week 2 and 4 after unilateral lingual nerve transection. However, regeneration related taste was occurred in the presence of preserving mesoneurial tissue and the time was 6 weeks. Our results demonstrated that unilateral lingual nerve damage caused morphological and numerical change of fungiform papilla. It should be noted in our study that lingual nerve transection resulted in not only morphological and numerical change but also functional change of fungiform papillae.
