Nanometer-sized structures are being applied to many devices including micro/nano electronics, optoelectronics, quantum devices, MEMS/NEMS, biosensors, etc. Especially, the thin film with submicron thickness is a basic structure for fabricating these devices, but its mechanical behaviors are not well understood. The mechanical properties of the thin film are different from those of the bulk structure and are difficult to measure because of its handling inconvenience. Several techniques have been applied to mechanical characterization of the thin film, such as nanoindentation test, micro/nano tensile test, strip bending test, etc. In this study, we focus on the strip bending test because of its high accuracy and moderate specimen preparation efforts, and measure Au thin film, which is a very popular material in micro/nano electronic devices. Au film is deposited on Si substrate by evaporation process, of which thickness is 100㎚. Using the strip bending test, we obtain elastic modulus, yield and ultimate tensile strength, and residual stress of Au thin film.

Structural integrity assessment of defected pipe is important in fitness for service evaluation and proper engineering assessment is needed to determine whether pipelines are still fit for service. This paper present a failure prediction of gas pipes made of API X65 steel with gouge using stress-modified true fracture strain, which is regarded as a criterion of ductile fracture. For this purpose, API X65 pipes with gouge are simulated using elastic-plastic FE analyses with the proposed ductile failure criterion and the resulting burst pressures are compared with experimental data. Agreements are quite good, which gives confidence in the use of the proposed criteria to defect assessment for gas pipelines. Then, further extensive finite element analyses are performed to obtain the burst pressure solution of pipes with gouge as a function of defect depth, length and pipeline geometry.

파력발전장치의 설계시 설치 대상해역의 정확한 파랑에너지 자료 구축은 장치의 발전성능 최대화와 경제성 확보를 위해 중요한 요소이다. 파력발전장치가 설치되는 해역의 파랑환경에 따라 그에 적합한 장치의 형상뿐만 아니라 전체 에너지변환장치의 구성까지 변화하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 파력발전장치의 설계시 발전성능평가를 위하여 설치적지의 파랑에너지 자료를 구축하였다. 이를위해 제주도 서쪽해안 파력실해역 시험장 해역에 부이식 파고계를 설치하여 2018년 9월에서부터 2019년 8월까지 1년간 파랑을 계측하였다. 계측된 결과를 통해 연간 유의파고-에너지 파주기 분포표를 완성하였고, 파주기별, 파고별, 파향별 특징을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 연간 유의파고-에너지 파주기 분포표를 활용하여 추후 연구되는 파력발전장치의 연간 발전성능평가가 가능하고, 파력발전장치의 최적설계를 달성할 수 있다. When designing wave energy converters, establishment of accurate wave energy data in the installation target area is an important process to maximize power generation performance and securing economic feasibility. According to the wave environment of the sea area where the wave energy converter is installed, not only the suitable shape of the device but also the configuration of the entire energy conversion system is changed. In this study, wave energy data for performance assessment of wave energy converter were established. A buoy-type wave measurement instrument was installed in the open sea test site on the west coast of Jeju Island, and the wave was measured for one year from September 2018 to August 2019. Through the measured results, the annual significant wave-energy period scatter diagram was completed, and the characteristics of wave period, wave height, and wave direction were analyzed. Using the annual significant wave-energy period scatter diagram obtained through this study, it is possible to evaluate the annual power generation performance and to achieve the optimum design of the wave energy converter.

Recently, business process management has become an important concept to define and execute business process. During the execution of the collaborative business processes defined by the consensus with manufacturing enterprises, a lot of variations can be occurred by various internal and external factors related to business. From this reason, manufacturing enterprises have tried to seek for a technology to define and execute the collaborative business process systematically under the dynamic situations approving process variation. This study defines the collaborative business process among manufacturing enterprises at first and proposes its execution technology under the dynamic situations. Here, the proposed execution technology includes the authority management of each process, sub-process, and activity for security, the forced execution of the incomplete process containing the undefined sub-process, the re-execution in a certain range of business process for correcting errors, and the dynamic selection of sub-process. Furthermore, this study implements a prototype system to check the validity of its application under the dynamic situations.

This paper presents the characteristics of seasonal capacity control of variable speed water cooler. The experiment is set to find the degree of superheat obtaining the optimum cooling capacity, with the electronic expansion valve controlled by the variation of compressor speed maintaining the constant degree of superheat at the evaporator outlet. It is a preliminary study on the optimum control of the water cooler system using a variable speed compressor controlled by inverter. It is investigated that the distribution of high and low pressures on a system is checked with variation of electronic expansion valve open/close degree and outdoor temperature.
