Iqbal, Asif,Ullah, Farman,Anwar, Hafeez,Kwak, Kyung Sup,Imran, Muhammad,Jamal, Waseef,Rahman, Atta ur Elsevier 2018 Sustainable cities and society Vol.38 No.-

Abstract

Recent advancements in the Internet, web and communication technologies cut across many areas of modern-day living and enabled interconnection of every physical object, including, sensors and actuators. Web-enabled smart objects empower innovative services and applications for different domains and improve utilization of resources. In this paper, we propose an interoperable Internet-of-Things (IoTs) platform for a smart home system using a Web-of-Objects (WoO) and cloud architecture. The proposed platform controls the home appliances from anywhere and also provides the homes’ data in the cloud for various service providers’ applications and analysis. Firstly, we proposed a Raspberry PI based gateway for interoperability among various legacy home appliances, different communication technologies, and protocols. Secondly, we bring the smart home appliances to the web and make it accessible through the Representational State Transfer (REST/RESTful) framework. Thirdly, we will provide the cloud server for smart homes’ to store the homes’ data due to low storage capabilities at a gateway and provide the data for various application’s service providers and analysis. In the proposed smart home platform, we implement a water-tank control using Zigbee communication, an automatic door security using a normal camera as an IP camera, and provide web connectivity to different home devices for web-based controlling. We aim to reduce the human intervention, secure access control to home devices from anywhere, provide smart homes data for application services as well as for analysis, and improve the utilization of resources.

Highlights

Proposed an interoperable and flexible internet-of-things platform for smart home system using web-of-objects and cloud infrastructure.

Provided Raspberry PI based gateway for interoperability among various legacy home appliances, different communication technologies, and protocols.

RESTful based smart home system to assign a unique URIs to each sensor data and an actuator event to reduce the processing at the webserver.

Provided cloud server storing smart homes data due to low storage capabilities at a gateway and providing data for service providers and analysis.

        Iqbal, Amjad,Shah, Farooq,Hamayun, Muhammad,Ahmad, Ayaz,Hussain, Anwar,Waqas, Muhammad,Kang, Sang-Mo,Lee, In-Jung Co-Action Publishing 2016 Food & nutrition research Vol.60 No.-

Food allergies are an emerging public health problem in industrialized areas of the world. They represent a considerable health problem in these areas because of the relatively high number of reported cases. Usually, food allergens are proteins or glycoproteins with a molecular mass ranging from 10 to 70 kDa. Among the food allergies, peanut is accounted to be responsible for more than 50% of the food allergy fatalities. Threshold doses for peanut allergenic reactions have been found to range from as low as 100 µg to 1 g of peanut protein, which equal to 400 µg to 4 g peanut meal. Allergens from peanut are mainly seed storage proteins that are composed of conglutin, vicilin, and glycinin families. Several peanut proteins have been identified to induce allergic reactions, particularly Ara h 1–11. This review is mainly focused on different classes of peanut allergens, the effect of thermal and chemical treatment of peanut allergens on the IgY binding and detectability of these allergens by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to provide knowledge for food industry.

Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding in COVID-19 Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Umair Iqbal,Hafsa Anwar,Hafiz Umair Siddiqui,Muhammad Ali Khan,Faisal Kamal,Bradley D. Confer,Harshit S. Khara 대한소화기내시경학회 2021 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.54 No.4

Background/Aims: More than 100 million people to date have been affected by the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)pandemic. Patients with COVID-19 have a higher risk of bleeding complications. We performed a systematic review and metaanalysisto evaluate the outcomes of COVID-19 patients with signs and symptoms of acute gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB). Methods: A systematic literature search was carried out for articles published until until November 11, 2020, in the Embase,MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases. We included studies on COVID-19 patients with signs and symptomsof GIB. Results: Our search yielded 49 studies, of which eight with a collective 127 patients (86 males and 41 females) met our inclusioncriteria. Conservative management alone was performed in 59% of the patients, endoscopic evaluation in 31.5%, and interventionalradiology (IR) embolization in 11%. Peptic ulcer disease was the most common endoscopic finding, diagnosed in 47.5% of thepatients. Pooled overall mortality was 19.1% (95% confidence interval [CI]; 12.7%-27.6%) and pooled mortality secondary to GIBwas 3.5% (95% CI; 1.3%–9.1%). The pooled risk of rebleeding was 11.3% (95% CI; 6.8%–18.4%). Conclusions: The majority of COVID-19 patients with GIB responded to conservative management, with a low mortalityrate associated with GIB and the risk of rebleeding. Thus, we suggest limiting endoscopic and IR interventions to those withhemodynamic instability and those for whom conservative management was unsuccessful.

Antioxidant Properties of Methanolic Extracts from Leaves of Rhazya stricta

        Shahid Iqbal,M.I. Bhanger,Mubeena Akhtar,Farooq Anwar,Khawaja Raees Ahmed,Tabraz Anwer 한국식품영양과학회 2006 Journal of medicinal food Vol.9 No.2

Because of increased safety concerns about synthetic antioxidants, exploitation of cheaper and safer sourcesof antioxidants based on natural origin is the focus of research nowadays. Rhazya stricta is a medicinally important plant na-tive to South Asia. Extraction of antioxidants was carried out in different solvent systems, i.e., water, 80% methanol, 70%ethanol, and diethyl ether. The methanolic extract exhibited the highest total phenolic content among the extracts; thereforefor further studies the methanolic extract was employed. Antioxidant activity measurement in the linoleic acid system, metalchelating activity, reducing power, scavenging effect on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radical, and superoxide anion rad-ical scavenging activity were taken as the parameters for assessment of antioxidant potential of methanolic extracts. Resultswere compared with .-tocopherol and the synthetic antioxidant butylated hydroxyanisole. The antioxidant potential of methano-lic extracts of R. strictaleaves was comparable with previously exploited potent antioxidants and is strongly concentrationdependent.

        Muhammad Hanafiah,Anwar Hafidzi,Wardatun Nadhiroh,Moh. Iqbal Assyauqi,Muhammad Zainal Abidin,Musyarrafah Sulaiman Kurdi,Yokke Andini 충남대학교 아시아여론연구소 2019 Asian journal for public opinion research Vol.7 No.4

Burqa or in Arabic An-Niqab is used to cover the entire face of a woman, except the two eyes. The burqa is not obligatory according to Syafi’i madzhab, which is followed by the majority of Indonesian Muslims. In this study, researchers used a survey to develop an understanding of veiled female students’ attitudes about themselves, their experience wearing a burqa, interactions with peers, and their perception of how other members of their academic community perceive them. The survey used Likert-type items. The sample in this study was 100 students from three general universities in South Kalimantan: Antasari State Islamic University, Rasyidiyah Khalidiyah Islamic College, and College of Quranic Sciences. The key findings include that 58.2% indicated a willingness to form associations with any women; 17.7% said they were happy associating only with the veiled community. A total of 13.9% said that sometimes they were told to take off their burqa when they were in the classroom. While most said they were never bullied on campus (67.1%), 19% said they were often bullied. Most (78.5%) said that they were given freedom even though there was a suggestion to open their faces when education and learning were taking place.

      • A Survey of Application Layer Protocols of Internet of Things

bibi, Nawab,Iqbal, Faiza,Akhtar, Salwa Muhammad,Anwar, Rabia, bibi, Shamshad International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.11

The technological advancements of the last two decades directed the era of the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT enables billions of devices to connect through the internet and share their information and resources on a global level. These devices can be anything, from smartphones to embedded sensors. The main purpose of IoT is to make devices capable of achieving the desired goal with minimal to no human intervention. Although it hascome as a social and economic blessing, it still brought forward many security risks. This paper focuses on providing a survey of the most commonly used application layer protocols in the IoT domain, namely, Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP), and Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). MQTT, AMQP, and XMPP use TCP for device-to-device communication, while CoAP utilizes UDP to achieve this purpose. MQTT and AMQP are based on a publish/subscribe model, CoAP uses the request/reply model for its structuring. In addition to this, the quality of service provision of MQTT, AMQP, and CoAP is not very high, especially when the deliverance of messages is concerned. The selection of protocols for each application is very a tedious task. This survey discusses the architectures, advantages, disadvantages, and applications of each of these protocols. The main contribution of this work is to describe each of the aforementioned application protocols in detail as well as providing their thorough comparative analysis. This survey will be helpful to the developers in selecting the protocol ideal for their system and/or application.

Fe/Co doped ZIF derived nitrogen doped nanoporous carbon as electrode material for supercapacitors

Ifra Fiaz Gul,Hirra Anwar,Muhammad Arslan Raza,Rabia Ahmad,Naseem Iqbal,Ghulam Ali 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.116 No.-

Nanoporous carbon (NPC) for electrochemical energy storage devices has gained much interest due to itshigh specific area and tunable porosity. Herein, Fe and Co co-doped NPC is synthesized by a simple coprecipitationmethod followed by carbonization of Fe and Co doped ZIF8 at 900 ℃ (Fe-Co/NPC-900). The structural, morphological, elemental, chemical bonding, surface area, and thermal degradation ofthe synthesized material have been evaluated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method, and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. The high surface area of 933 m2/g and nanoporous structureof Fe-Co/NPC-900 electrode results in a high specific capacitance of 900 F/g at a current density of5 A/g. The cycle performance of Fe-Co/NPC-900 was remarkable with 88% of the capacitance retentionafter 5000 cycles at a high current density of 30 A/g. The high electrochemical performance of Fe-Co/NPC-900 is attributed to the hybrid doping of Fe and Co in nitrogen doped carbon network which offersa synergic effect in reaction.
