Throughput Capacity of a Cognitive Radio Based Multi-hop Relay Network

The purpose of enabling relay is to enhance coverage, range, and throughput and possibly capacity of a multi-hop relay network and to enable very low power devices to participate in the network. Since it is possible to have simultaneous transmission by both the base station (BS) and relay station (RS), throughput gains may also be achieved by either exploiting spectrum efficiency or spatial diversity. Cognitive radio (CR) is another promising technology that can improve the efficiency of spectrum usage by finding available spectrum in a crowded network, leading to gains in capacity. In cellular networks, integration of CR techniques with the multi-hop relays can enhance the performance significantly. In this paper, we investigate the throughput capacity of a multi-hop relay network with CR enabled RS. We develop the throughput capacity model for the proposed system based on utilization factor. The analytical results based on those equations show significant improvement in throughput capacity for CR enabled multi-hop relay system.

WiBro 멀티 홉 릴레이 시스템은 리소스를 재활용하여 시스템의 용량을 향상하는 것이 요구된다. 현재까지의 연구 중에서 셀 당 데이터의 전송용량을 증가하는데 셀의 시간과 공간을 분할하여 재활용하는 기술들이 소개되었다. 그러나 기본적인 여러 자원들을 재할용하여 WiBro 멀티 홉 릴레이의 용량을 향상하는 기술은 제한되어 발표되고 있다. WiBro 시스템에서 셀을 통하여 데이터를 전송할 메 멀티 홉들이 재황용되어야 하는데 본 논문에서는 그 방법으로 시간, 공간 및 주파수 자원을 동시에 재활용하여 시스템 용량을 증가하는 기본적인 방법을 제안하였다. 그리고 Shannon의 채널용량에 기초한 수학적 해석을 통하여 제안된 방식에 대한 용량의 향상 정도를 검증하였다.

We suggested a TDMA/FDMA based frame structure where RSs dynamically select unused channels to communicate with the base station (BS) using CR techniques to analyze the throughput capacity. We developed the throughput capacity model for the proposed system based on utilization factor. The analytical results based on those equations show significant improvement in throughput capacity for CR enabled multi-hop relay system.

The analytical results based on those equations show significant improvement in throughput capacity for CR enabled multi-hop relay system. 본 논문은 cognitive radio (CR) 기능을 갖는 무선 멀티홉 릴레이 네트워크의 throughput 용량에 대한 연구 결과이다. 본 논문에서는 TDMA/FDMA에 기반한 프레임 구조를 갖는 릴레이가 기지국과 통신할 때 CR 기술을 이용하여 현재 사용되고 있지 않는 주파수 자원을 측정하여 동적으로 이용하는 시스템을 제안하고 이의 throughput 용량 모델을 제안 하였다. 특히, 본 논문에서는 Utilization factor를 이용하여 제안된 시스템을 위한 throughput 용량 모델을 제안하였다. 해석 모델링 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 CR 기반 멀티홉 릴레이 시스템은 throughput 용량을 매우 향상하는 결과를 보였다.

Improving spectrum efficiency in wireless networks is a challenging problem, particularly for multi-hop relay networks. Employing cognitive radio (CR) enabled relay stations (RS) in such situation can dramatically improve the performance, In this paper, we suggest a technique where RSs dynamically select unused channels to communicate with the base station (BS). We develop the throughput capacity model for the proposed system based on utilization factor. We also construct a mobility model and show the effect of mobility on the network performance.

In this paper, Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR) of wireless Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) system interconnected with Radio over Fiber (RoF) link is analyzed for broadband convergence network applications. Unlike previous results, ACPR of the total link, which is involved with Radio Frequency (RF) amplifier as well as ROF link, at 5.8 GHz in IEEE 802.11a environment is simulated and compared at both system ends. 본 논문에서는 광대역통합망 응용을 위하여 ROF 링크와 접속된 무선 OFDM 시스템의 인접채널전력비를 해석하였다. RF 증폭기에서 비선형 효과에 의한 인접채널전력비의 해석을 다룬 기존의 결과들과 다르게 본 논문에서는 ROF 링크를 포함한 유무선통합 링크에 대하여 IEEE 802.11a의 5.8GHz OFDM 신호의 인접채널전력비를 해석하고 시뮬레이션한 결과를 보였다.

The growth of wireless networking has generated commercial and research interest in statistical methods to track people and things. Inside stores, hospitals, warehouses and factories where Global Positioning System devices generally do not work. Indoor Positioning Systems aim to provide location estimates for wireless devices such as laptop computers, handheld devices and electronic badges. Therfore, in this paper, location estimation algorithms were suggested to address the global positiong problem in an ad-hoc wireless network and algorithms were compared to offer suitable solutions.
