        A Study on Art Education Program for Activating the Sustainable Design Education: Focused on Global E-waste Issue in Art Education

        Contemporary society is struggling with the fact that the most prevalent electronic gadgets, such as mobile phones, other communication devices, game consoles and PC, have a short lifespan. Not long after consumers buy one device, they anticipate the release of the next device with newer features. Rapid new trend in electronic devices has lead to consumers’ over-consumption, which results in a short device lifespan and produces profuse e-waste. This fast circulation of production and consumption has caused serious environmental and economic impacts on modern society. Because today’s students will be the economy’s driving force in the near future, schools must encourage students to consider how their short usage of electric gadget affects the biosphere. To achieve goals of study, the research objectives are verified about the effectiveness of education by education experts after education program have developed a training program for sustainable consumption that can be used in a secondary school art curriculum while meeting schoolmates property back. As a result of study, it is verified that middle school students who participated in this program have higher educational effect for sustainable consumption resulting from the awareness of the rapid life cycle of electronic products throughout this education program. This study verifies the effectiveness of this program for sustainable consumption through a class workshop. It is verified that secondary school students in this study was enhanced on creative problem solving resulting from the awareness of the rapid life cycle of electronic products throughout this education program. It has a limitation to the effectiveness of the various approaches for analysis before and after the application program. It is suggested that the future study may clarify affective elements such as attitudes, values for sustainable consumption by applying a variety of subjects, students in the art education program, as well as sustainable design curriculum for future research. This research is distinctive for the fact that it applies students in secondary school and ways that these findings can improve teaching methods and students’understanding in order to extract durable design point. And it can be contributed to reduce consumption after being motivated to reflect the relationship between them and the environment critically and creatively. This research could engage not only students’moral and ethical judgments but also their emotional engagement with objects for the environment by comparing their memorable things.

        리소르지멘토와 19세기 이탈리아 소설: 리소르지멘토 초기 민족의식 - 포스콜로의 『야코포 오르티스의 마지막 편지』와 펠리코의 『나의 옥중기』를 중심으로 -

        리소르지멘토는 일반적으로 1815년에서 1871년까지의 역사적 시기를 말한다. “리소르지멘토”란 말은 이탈리아 국가의 정치적 통일의 시작과 발전 및 완성을 특징짓는 문화적, 정치적, 사회적 혁신 과정을 의미한다. 19세기 초반 이탈리아는 여러 소국으로 분열돼 있었고, 독립과 통일에 대한 일반 국민의 인식이 부재했다. 1817년 최종판이 나온 우고 포스콜로의 『야코포 오르티스의 마지막 편지』에서는 이탈리아의 탄생을 말하고 있으며, 이탈리아가 수백 년간 외세의 지배로 인해 역사의 주체가 되지 못한 이유를 분열과 민족의식의 부재로 파악한다. 카르보나리 당원이라는 의심 때문에 오스트리아 경찰에 체포된 실비오 펠리코는 10년 간의 감옥생할 경험을 담은 『나의 옥중기』를 출판했다. 이 작품은 고통스러운 상황에서 그리스도교와 소박한 사람들의 인간성이 주는 위로를 말하고 있다. Resorgimento generally refers to the historical period from 1815 to 1871. The term “risorgimento” means the process of cultural, political and social innovation that characterizes the birth, development and achievement of the political unity of the Italian state. In the early 19th century, Italy was divided into several small countries, and the general public’s awareness of independence and unification was absent. Ugo Foscolo’s Ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis, published in the final version in 1817, speaks of the birth of Italy, and the reason why Italy has been ruled by foreign powers for hundreds of years is understood as division and lack of national consciousness. Silvio Pellico, who was arrested by the Austrian police for suspicion of being a member of the Carboneria, published Le mie prigioni which tells the story of 10 years of imprisonment. This work speaks of the comfort of Christianity and the humanity of simple people in a painful situation.

        Age and life history of an old black pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl.) tree at Cave Temple on Mt. Sanbangsan, Jeju Island, Korea, died due to pine wilt disease in 2013

        In 2013, the epidemics of pine wilt disease caused by the pine wood nematodes (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus) resulted in damages to the forests of black pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl.) trees in Jeju Island, Korea. Among the affected trees, an old black pine tree at Cave Temple on Mt. Sanbangsan was included and died due to the prevalence of pine wilt disease. The tree was on Mt. Sanbangsan, which was designated as a National Scenic Place with the Number 77 and was believed to be more than 400 years old in age. By examining the disc of the tree stem obtained from the height of 2 m, we counted the tree rings from 4 different directions and cross-dated the readings by comparing the records of drought simulated from the BROOK Model. Our analysis indicates that the tree seems to have grown since late 1860s. Contrary to the belief of the general public, we can conclude that the age of the tree was estimated to be at maximum 150 years, which means that it was not the same old tree as was shown in the painting of the Tam-Ra-Sun-Ryeok-Do (an old painting book for the Inspection Tour of Jeju Island) published in 1702. Discussion was extended to the life history of the tree in growth and leaning and the measures to protect the tree species from the damages of the pine wilt disease caused by pine wood nematodes.

      • Development in Conservation Technology for Tenebrio molitor (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) Genetic Resource

        As demand for Tenebrio molitor increases in animal feed market, improvement of mass-rearing indoor system became more crucial. This study is aimed at establishing the technology for conserving genetic resource of Tenebrio molitor, and increasing the technology utilization. This year, in advance, this experiment was designed for examining the developmental characteristics of eggs and larvae. To research the developmental characteristics under different temperatures, eggs, larvae and papae were treated at 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 27.5 and 30°C. At 25°C, larvae were exposed to various photoperiod conditions, LD 14:10, 12:12, and 10:14. The results show that the temperature range which affected hatching was 15~32.5°C. To achieve 70 percent or higher hatching rate 17.5~27.5°C was required. Furthermore, hatching occurred within 10 days, when the eggs were treated in 22.5~27.5°C. In regard of larval development, shorter developmental period, and higher pupation and eclosion rates were observed in 25~27.5°C. The shortest larval period was recorded at 14L:10D. At 10L:14D, in contrast, pupae showed the lowest chance of eclosion. Overall, larval development was optimal in long-day condition.

        <P>Hyaluronan, a non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan, retains water, maintains the extracellular spaces and facilitates the transport of ion solutes and nutrients. Hyaluronan is closely involved in keratinocyte proliferation, migration and differentiation. The synthesis of hyaluronan in vitro can be stimulated by several growth factors, including retinoids, dibutyryl cyclic adenosine monophosphate and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha agonist. In this study, we examined retinyl retinoate (a novel retinol derivative) on hyaluronan expression in primary human keratinocytes and in hairless mouse epidermal skin. Histochemistry using hyaluronan-binding protein revealed that topical retinyl retinoate increased the intensity of hyaluronan staining in murine skin. Moreover, topical retinyl retinoate increased CD44 (hyaluronan receptor) expression. Using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, we assessed the expression level of the hyaluronan synthase 2 (HAS2) gene in primary human keratinocytes and in hairless mouse epidermal skin. We found that retinyl retinoate upregulated mouse HAS2 and human HAS2 mRNA. Application of retinyl retinoate induced increasing transepidermal water loss less than retinol, retinoic acid and retinaldehyde. Taken together, we suggest that retinyl retinoate is more effective on hyaluronan production and less of an irritant than other retinoids.</P>

        Channel Defect Analysis Method of a-IGZO TFTs on Polyimide for Flexible Displays

        In this paper, we introduce a method enabling faster and more innovative analysis of the channel characteristics of amorphous indium-gallium-zinc oxide (a-IGZO) thin film transistors (TFTs) manufactured on flexible substrates through electrical property analysis. The TFTs used in the present evaluation were a-IGZO TFTs with different oxygen flow rates (OFRs), which have been reported on frequently in the past, to confirm the effectiveness of the new evaluation method. The interface characteristics of the IGZO and the insulator were confirmed by density of state (DOS) extraction using photoexcited charge collection spectroscopy (PECCS). Defects of the TFT active layer were confirmed through the capacitance-time (c-t) method. It was confirmed that the smaller the OFR, the smaller the carrier lifetime due to the presence of oxygen vacancies. In conclusion, by obtaining the same results as previously reported physical analyses, the proposed electrical channel characteristics analysis of IGZO TFTs was shown to be a reliable analysis method.

      • Morphology-Dependent Hole Transfer under Negligible HOMO Difference in Non-Fullerene Acceptor-Based Ternary Polymer Solar Cells

        <P>In the field of organic solar cells, it has been generally accepted until recently that a difference in band energies of at least 0.3 eV between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of the donor and the HOMO of the acceptor is required to provide adequate driving force for efficient photoinduced hole transfer due to the large binding energy of excitons in organic materials. In this work, we investigate polymeric donor:non-fullerene acceptor junctions in binary and ternary blend polymer solar cells, which exhibit efficient photoinduced hole transfer despite negligible HOMO offset and demonstrate that hole transfer in this system is dependent on morphology. The morphology of the organic blend was gradually tuned by controlling the amount of ITIC and PC<SUB>70</SUB>BM. High external quantum efficiency was achieved at long wavelengths, despite ITIC-to-PC<SUB>70</SUB>BM ratio of 1:9, which indicates efficient photoinduced hole transfer from ITIC to the donor despite an undesirable HOMO energy offset. Transient absorption spectra further confirm that hole transfer from ITIC to the donor becomes more efficient upon optimizing the morphology of the ternary blend compared to that of donor:ITIC binary blend.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

The goal of this technology is to provide more efficient and streamlined data collection and display methods for an extremely vulnerable segment of the population. The applicability of this technology is explored through various business models which address the short, medium, and long term marketing goals, such as SWOT, TOWS, and a Strategic Road Map. The results provide strong support for potential market application in Korea as well as abroad.

        Polymer Passivation Effect on Methylammonium Lead Halide Perovskite Photodetectors

        Methylammonium lead halide (MAPbI3) perovskites are considered as promising materials ow- ing to their excellent optical and electrical properties. However, perovskite materials suffer from degradation in air, which limits their practical applications. Here, we demonstrate successful passi- vation of the MAPbI3 photodetectors through monochloro-para-xylylene (Parylene-C) deposition. The time-dependent photocurrent characteristics were systematically investigated, and we achieved significantly improved device performance and stability with Parylene-C passivation. Based on the excitation-power-dependent photoluminescence (PL) data, we confirmed that Parylene-C can re- duce the carrier losses in MAPbI3, leading to the enhancement of photocurrent and PL in MAPbI3 photodetectors.
