Characteristics of the multiphase flow field with super-cavitation induced by successively fired projectiles under-water and cross-medium

        Dong-Hui Zhou,Hong-Hui Shi,Hui-Xia Jia 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.1

The multiphase flow field with supercavitation induced by successively fired underwater projectiles is very complicated. It involves the interaction of two or more supercavitating flow fields, which is very different from the supercavitating flow of single underwater projectile. In the paper, the multiphase flow field with supercavitation induced by two successively fired projectiles underwater and cross-media (water-entry and water-exit) was simulated. The interaction effect between supercavities induced by two projectiles was particularly analyzed. The influence mechanism of the supercavity evolution on the motion of two projectiles was also analyzed. The results indicate that, the supercavitating flow fields of two successively fired underwater projectiles interact on each other. The coalescence, separation and collapse of cavities occur during the interaction stage of the supercavitating flow fields, which causes that the second-fired projectile enters the supercavity of the first one. The second-fired projectile can catch up with the first one and then a rear-end collision happens. The collision causes disturbances on the supercavity contour. The impact load of the secondfired projectile during the water-entry period is smaller than that of the first one. The cavities induced by the first- and second-fired projectiles coalesce each other into a cavity, and the second-fired projectile is finally completely wrapped by a supercavity. During the water-entry process, a rear-end collision also happens. In the process of water-exit, the supercavity induced by the first-fired projectile is blocked under the free surface, and then the first-fired projectile flies into the air after throwing off the water layer. Under the influence of the supercavity separated by the first-fired projectile, the second-fired projectile can escape from its own supercavity, and then enter the supercavity of the first-fired projectile. With the supercavity collapse of the first-fired projectile, a new partial cavity generates around the second-fired projectile.

      • HER2-enriched Tumors Have the Highest Risk of Local Recurrence in Chinese Patients Treated with Breast Conservation Therapy

        Jia, Wei-Juan,Jia, Hai-Xia,Feng, Hui-Yi,Yang, Ya-Ping,Chen, Kai,Su, Feng-Xi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.1

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the recurrence pattern and characteristics of patients based on the 2013 St. Gallen surrogate molecular subtypes after breast-conserving surgery (BCS) in Chinese women. Methods: This retrospective analysis included 709 consecutive breast cancer patients undergoing BCS from 1999-2010 at our institution. Five different surrogate subtypes were created using combined expression of the estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2. Locoregional relapse-free survival (LRRFS), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), and disease-free survival (DFS) rates were calculated. Results: The 5-year LRRFS, DMFS, and DFS rates were 90.5%, 88.2%, and 81.5%, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that young age, node-positive disease, and HER2 enrichment were independent prognostic factors in LRRFS patients. There was also an independent prognostic role of lymph node-positive disease in DMFS and DFS patients. Patients with luminal A tumors had the most favorable prognosis, with LRRFS, DMFS, and DFS rates of 93.2%, 91.5%, and 87.4% at 5 years, respectively. Conversely, HER-2-enriched tumors exhibited the highest rate of locoregional recurrence (20.6%). Conclusion: Surrogate subtypes present with significant differences in RFS, DMFS, and LRRFS. Luminal A tumors have the best prognosis, whereas HER2-enriched tumors have the poorest.

      • 0BTimSim: An Efficient Simulator for Wireless Ad-hoc Networks

Hui Xia,Jia Yu,Guo-Dong Wang,Zhen-Kuan Pan 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.9 No.4

With the growth of increasingly complex in wireless ad-hoc networks, performance modeling and evaluation play a crucial part in their design process to ensure successful deployment and exploitation in practice. Compared with the actual implementation (testbeds), simulation has become a valuable tool, which allows studying large scale systems that cannot be built practically. However, most simulators currently used for such networks are intended to evaluate individual routing protocol, which should be extracted from the source code and rewritten in accordance with the simulator’s requirements. Thus, in this paper, we design a new wireless ad-hoc network simulator, called Time Step-based Wireless Ad-hoc Network Simulator (TimSim). It is intended to facilitate the migration of simulation code to real devices via providing useful APIs with real device driver. We use a discrete event processor with time step-based feature as the simulating engine, and the data can be transmitted in bit-level. A unique feature of TimSim is its ability to support the simulation of multi-thread programming. Additionally, we import database access to store the simulation information. Extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the efficiency of TimSim. Furthermore, a case study on a real system has been presented to illustrate its practicability.

CCR6 Is a Predicting Biomarker of Radiosensitivity and Potential Target of Radiosensitization in Rectal Cancer

        Hui Chang,Jia-wang Wei,Ya-lan Tao,Pei-rong Ding,Yun-fei Xia,Yuan-hong Gao,Wei-wei Xiao 대한암학회 2018 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.50 No.4

Purpose This study aimed to explore the functions and mechanisms of C-C motif chemokine receptor 6 (CCR6), a gene associated with progression and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC), in radiosensitivity of rectal cancer (RC). Materials and Methods RNA sequencing and immunohistochemical analysis on CCR6 expression were performed in pretreatment tissues of RC patients exhibiting different therapeutic effects of radiotherapy. Colonogenic survival assay was conducted in different CRC cell lines to assess their radiosensitivity. And the impact of CCR6 expression on radiosensitivity was validated through RNA interference. The DNA damage repair (DDR) abilities of cell lines with different CCR6 expression were evaluated through immunofluorescence-based H2AX quantification. Results The CCR6 mRNA level was higher in patients without pathologic complete remission (pCR) than in those with pCR (fold changed, 2.11; p=0.004). High-level expression of CCR6 protein was more common in the bad responders than in the good responders (76.3% vs. 37.5%, p < 0.001). The CRC cell lines with higher CCR6 expression (LoVo and sw480) appeared to be more radioresistant, compared with the sw620 cell line which had lower CCR6 expression. CCR6 knockdown made the LoVo cells more sensitive to ionizing radiation (sensitization enhancement ratio, 1.738; p < 0.001), and decreased their DDR efficiency. Conclusion CCR6 might affect the RC radiosensitivity through DDR process. These findings supported CCR6 as a predicting biomarker of radiosensitivity and a potential target of radiosensitization for RC patients.

Combined fine-needle aspiration with core needle biopsy for assessing thyroid nodules: a more valuable diagnostic method?

        Zhe Chen,Jia-jia Wang,Dong-ming Guo,Yu-xia Zhai,Zhuo-zhi Dai,Hong-hui Su 대한초음파의학회 2023 ULTRASONOGRAPHY Vol.42 No.2

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of combined fine-needle aspiration (FNA) with core needle biopsy (CNB) in thyroid nodules. Methods: FNA and CNB were performed simultaneously on 703 nodules. We compared the proportions of inconclusive results and the diagnostic performance for malignancy among FNA, CNB, and combined FNA/CNB for different nodule sizes. Results: Combined FNA/CNB showed lower proportions of inconclusive results than CNB for all nodules (2.8% vs. 5.7%, P<0.001), nodules ≤1.0 cm (4.9% vs. 7.3%, P=0.063), nodules >1.0 cm (2.0% vs. 5.0 %, P<0.001), nodules ≤1.5 cm (3.8% vs. 7.9 %, P<0.001), and nodules >1.5 cm (2.1% vs. 3.9 %, P=0.016). The sensitivity of combined FNA/CNB in predicting malignancy was significantly higher than that of CNB (89.0% vs. 80.0%, P<0.001) and FNA (89.0% vs. 58.1%, P<0.001) for all nodules. Within American College of Radiology Thyroid and Imaging Reporting and Data System grades 4-5, in the subgroup of nodules ≤1.5 cm, combined FNA/ CNB showed the best sensitivity in predicting malignancy (91.4%), significantly higher than that of CNB (81.0%, P<0.001) and FNA (57.8%, P<0.001). However, in the subgroup of nodules >1.5 cm, the difference between combined FNA/CNB and CNB was not significant (84.2% vs. 78.9%, P=0.500). Conclusion: Regardless of nodule size, combined FNA/CNB tended to yield lower proportions of inconclusive results than CNB or FNA alone and exhibited higher performance in diagnosing malignancy. The combined FNA/CNB technique may be a more valuable diagnostic method for nodules ≤1.5 cm and nodules with a risk of malignancy than CNB and FNA alone.

      • HPV16 CTL Epitope Peptide-activated Dendritic Cell and Natural Killer Co-culture for Therapy of Cervical Cancer in an Animal Model

        Hu, Yan-Xia,Li, Min,Jia, Xiao-Hui,Du, Qu-Xiao,Miao, Feng-Tai,Yao, Li,Shen, Ji-Duo Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.12

There is increasing evidence that natural killer (NK) cells play an important role in antitumor immunity following dendritic cell (DC) vaccination. Little is known, however, about the optimal stimulation of DCs by epitopes and NK interactions for cytotoxicity in tumors. In this study, DC cells activated by the HPV16E7.49-57 epitope and LPS were co-cultured with NK cells in vitro, and then used ot immunize mice to study CTL activity of TC-1, which constitutively expresses HPV16E6E7, with an LDH release assay. Cytotoxicity in mice immunized with DC loaded with epitope HPVE7.49-57 vaccine co-cultured with NK was enhanced significantly (p<0.01). In conclusion, talk-across between DC and NK cells enhances their functions, also improving cytotoxicity againsttumor cells, suggesting that activated DC-NK by epitopes has potential application for cancer-specific immuno-cellular therapy.

Metabolic dynamics across prolonged diapause development in larvae of the sawfly, Cephalcia chuxiongica (Hymenoptera: Pamphiliidae)

        Xu Rong,Chen Yu-Hui,Xia Ju-Fei,Zeng Ting-Xiao,Li Yong-He,Zhu Jia-Ying 한국응용곤충학회 2021 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.24 No.2

Nutrient metabolism is crucial for the survival of insects through the diapause. However, little is known about the metabolic mechanism of prolonged diapause. The sawfly, Cephalcia chuxiongica (Hymenoptera: Pamphiliidae), is a notorious defoliator of pine trees in southwest China. One of the distinguishing biological characteristics of this pest is the prolonged diapause of about 1.5 years. In this study, the body lipid, carbohydrate (total body sugar, glycogen, trehalose, and glucose), protein, and glycerol contents were measured in diapausing larvae of C. chuxiongica. The results showed that the changes of biochemical composition in C. chuxiongica are associated with the diapause initiation, maintenance, and termination phases. During the initiation phase, trehalose, glucose, and glycerol increased significantly, but glycogen decreased sharply. In general, the lipid, carbohydrate, and glycerol levels decreased gradually across the maintenance phase. At termination phase, the contents of glycogen and lipid persistently decreased, while an increase of trehalose, glucose, and glycerol contents were detected. The protein level was significantly higher at maintenance phase than at initiation and termination phases. It was also found that elevation of trehalose, glucose, and glycerol contents occurred in winter. These implies that the metabolites with altered levels in diapausing larvae of C. chuxiongica are responsible for maintaining a prolonged development and overwintering.

Controlled CVD preparation and quality characterization of graphene based on biphenyl refined from low-rank coal

        Wu Dun,Li Bo,Jia Cheng,Dong Min,Liang Wenxu,Gao Xia,Zhang Hui 한국탄소학회 2024 Carbon Letters Vol.34 No.3

In recent years, the efficient and clean utilization of coal has been widely concerned by scholars at home and abroad. Despite the abundance of global coal resources, the deep utilization rate of coal is still insufficient. To address this challenge, it has been explored the development and preparation of coal-based high value-added carbonaceous materials. In the present study, a novel process was developed for the preparation of graphene using biphenyl sourced from low-rank coal. Using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology, it was successfully implemented for us to grow high-quality graphene on copper foils. The prepared graphene products were observed and characterized using Raman spectroscopy, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The results of this research provide a new perspective for the utilization of low-rank coal resources.
