      • Thioacetamide 유발 간성뇌장애에서 뇌파 Power Spectra

        흰쥐에 thioacetamide(TAA)를 투여하면 간성뇌장애가 유발된다. 두가지 행동 상태(꼬리 접촉자극 및 미자극)와 세 단계의 신경학적 이상의 단계(정상, 약한 운동실조, 심한 운동실조)별로 뇌파를 기록하였고, 뇌파 스펙트럼 및 대역 분석을 통하여 간성뇌장애 진행동안 뇌파의 정량적인 변동을 관찰하였다. 정상 쥐에서 자극은 theta(3.5 ~ 8 Hz) 및 gamma(30 ~ 50 Hz) 대역의 power을 증가시켰다. 운동실조가 있는 쥐에서 이러한 변화가 일어나지 못하였다. 꼬리 자극을 하는 상태에서 theta 대역의 변화는 gamma 대역의 변화 보다 더욱 일찍 관찰되었다. 신경학적 행동 단계가 심해짐에 따라서 β3(21 ~ 30 Hz) 및 gamma 대역에서 power가 점차적으로 감소하였다. 또한 간성뇌장애의 신경학적 증상은 benzodiazepine계 물질에 의하여 야기된다는 가설이 있으므로 beta power의 증가가 관찰될 것으로 기대하였으나 이 연구에서는 관찰하지 못하였다. 이 결과들로 미루어 볼때 이 연구에 사용된 스펙트럼 및 대역 분석이 간성뇌장애동안 신경학적 증상의 정도를 정량화 할 수 있다고 생각된다. During the development of hepatic encephalopathy after thioacetamide (TAA) injection to rat, EEG was recorded at two different states: without or with tactile stimulation of tail at regular intervals. Calculations based on the spectral and band analysis were used. The changes in the power spectra and bands were examined in 3 different behavioral stages: normal, mild ataxia and severe ataxia. In normal rats, the stimulation produced the increase in the power of the theta (3.5 ~ 8 Hz) and the gamma (30 ~ 50 Hz)$ bands. These changes could not be produced in rats with the mild and severe ataxia. The changes in the power of the theta band occurred earlier than those of the beta3 and the gamma bands in the stimulated state. Gradual decreases in the spectral power of the beta3 (21 ~ 30 Hz) and the gamma bands were correlated with the progress of the stages from normal condition to mild to severe ataxia in both unstimulated and stimulated states. The results indicate that the spectral and band analysis used in this study can quantify the severity of the neurological malfunction during HE.

        Cilostazol ameliorates diabetic nephropathy by inhibiting highglucose-induced apoptosis

        Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a hyperglycemia-induced progressive development of renal insufficiency. Excessive glucose can increase mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) and induce cell damage, causing mitochondrial dysfunction. Our previous study indicated that cilostazol (CTZ) can reduce ROS levels and decelerate DN progression in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 1 diabetes. This study investigated the potential mechanisms of CTZ in rats with DN and in high glucose-treated mesangial cells. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed 5 mg/kg/day of CTZ after developing STZ-induced diabetes mellitus. Electron microscopy revealed that CTZ reduced the thickness of the glomerular basement membrane and improved mitochondrial morphology in mesangial cells of diabetic kidney. CTZ treatment reduced excessive kidney mitochondrial DNA copy numbers induced by hyperglycemia and interacted with the intrinsic pathway for regulating cell apoptosis as an antiapoptotic mechanism. In high-glucose-treated mesangial cells, CTZ reduced ROS production, altered the apoptotic status, and down-regulated transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) and nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB). Base on the results of our previous and current studies, CTZ deceleration of hyperglycemia-induced DN is attributable to ROS reduction and thereby maintenance of the mitochondrial function and reduction in TGF-β and NF-κB levels.

        Development of Multi-layer Tubular Vascular Scaffold to Enhance Compliance by Exhibiting a Negative Poisson’s Ratio

        Synthetic small diameter vascular grafts frequently fail owing to intimal hyperplasia, results from mismatched compliance between the vascular graft and native vessels. A vascular graft with a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR, materials expand transversely when pulled axially) was suggested to enhance compliance. We produced a three-layer tubular vascular scaffold with NRP properties. The luminal side consisted of nanosized electrospun fibers for endothelial cell (EC) growth. The middle layer was an NPR structure created using 3D printing, and the outer layer was a microsized electrospun fiber layer for vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) growth. The developed multi-layer tubular vascular scaffold contained NPR value. And the NPR vascular scaffold showed 1.7 time higher compliance than the PPR scaffold and 3.8 times higher than that of commercial polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) vascular graft. In addition, the ECs and VSMCs were well survived and proliferated on the scaffold during 10 days of culture. From the optimized co-culture condition of the VSMCs and ECs that VSMC phenotype changed was inhibited, we successfully generated a thin luminal layer, which consisted of ECs and the proper thickness of the VSMC layer under the ECs. This scaffold may have a potential to replace conventional artificial vascular graft by providing enhanced compliance and improved cell culture environment.

        Feasibility of Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion for Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus in Patients With Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

        <P>This study sought to investigate the safety of percutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion for stroke prevention in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation who have LAA thrombus. From October 2010 to October 2016, LAA occlusions were performed in facilities within a Korean multicenter registry in patients without (n = 132) or with (n = 10) LAA thrombus (detected during preprocedural assessments). The incidences of periprocedural complications, including stroke, pericardial tamponade, major bleeding, and device embolization, were assessed and compared between the groups. The incidence of periprocedural complications was not significantly different between patients with and without LAA thrombus (0% vs 5% [6 of 132]; p = 0.49). During the mean 23.2 ± 17.5-month follow-up duration, 7 major adverse cardiac events occurred (1 cardiovascular death, 6 ischemic strokes), but overall event rates were not significantly different between the groups (14% vs 9%; p = 0.47). In conclusion, percutaneous LAA occlusion in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation patients with LAA thrombus may be a safe and feasible alternative to anticoagulation in select patients at a high risk of bleeding or contraindication to anticoagulation, or in whom anticoagulation failed to prevent stroke.</P>

        Pancreatic and intra-abdominal fat necrosis are frequently in chronic pancreatitis, but fat necrosis of the bone marrow has been rarely reported. These extrapancreatic fat necrosis occur by circulating lipolytic enzymes. We report a case of multiple fat necrosis of the osseous medulla and skin associated with chronic recurrent pancreatitis.

      • 경북도청 후보지로서 북부권의 타당성분석과 균형개발전략 : 인문사회적 측면을 중심으로

        이 논문은 경북도청후보지로서 북부권의 타당성을 인문사회적 입지조건이란 관점에서 분석하고, 도청이 북부권으로 이전될 경우 북부권의 균형개발전략을 제시한 것이다. 연구결과 도청소재지로서 북부권이 타당한 이유는 경북의 구조적인 문제를 해결하면서 동시에 미래 도청소재지로서 이상적인 입지조건을 갖추고 있기 때문이다. 이 논문에서는 인문사회적 입지조건을 7가지 입지기준을 적용하여 분석하였다. 즉 ①국토 및 지역의 균형개발, ②행정서비스이용의 편리성과 행정능률의 극대화, ③도민통합과 도민화합에 기여, ④역사성과 문화적 기반, ⑤배후지의 도시기반시설, ⑥미래지향적인 성장가능성, ⑦주변환경의 쾌적성이라는 측면에서 볼 때 북부권이 최적지로 밝혀졌다. 이와 아울러 도청이전은 경북전체의 균형발전을 도모하면서, 동시에 북부지역간에도 균형발전을 유도하여 이전효과를 극대화 해야 한다. 북부지역의 균형발전을 위해서는 도단위 행정기관을 가급적 북부지역에 분산배치하고, 중앙고속도로와 중부내륙고속도로 및 동서간선도로를 앞당겨 건설해야 함을 밝혔다. 이와 더불어 관광 및 문화자원을 적극적으로 연계개발하고, 적정규모의 공단개발을 유도하는 동시에, 예천공항의 국제공항화가 실현될 때 북부권 전역은 뿌리깊은 소외지역에서 벗어 날 수 있음을 주장하였다.

        임상시험을 위한 연구계획서의 오류에 대한 고찰

        Statistics are essential for clinical trials, and it is very important to have an accurate understanding of the purpose of the study and to apply the appropriate statistical design or methodology. Prior to conducting a clinical trial, the research protocol requires approval from the IRB (Institutional Review Board) or regulatory agency approval, and contains a variety of contents. The research protocol conducts clinical trials according to GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and describe clinical design and statistical methodologies for demonstrate the efficacy and safety of new drug or new medical devices using the obtained data in clinical trials. At this time, statistical design is applied for the protocol based on the primary study objective. The primary study objective is to influence the selection of primary endpoint to evaluate this, the sample size, the technique of minimizing the bias, the statistical analysis and method of testing the statistical hypothesis. However, statistical errors and contradictions are easy to find in the study protocol and the same errors are repeated many times, so in this paper we aim to avoid these errors in clinical studies and apply them correctly in clinical trials, intended to be helpful in derives scientific design, validity, and reliable results.

        PBT와 Nylon6,12의 블렌드 특성과 core/shell 구조를 갖는 PBT/Nylon6,12 미세모의 제조 및 압출조건

        압출성형을 통한 core/shell 구조를 갖는 폴리부틸렌테레프탈레이트(PBT)/Nylon6,12 미세모를 제조함에 있어 최적의 압출조건을 규명하기 위하여, 압출온도와 배합비를 다르게 하여 제조한 블렌드 미세모의 상용성을 SEM 모폴로지와 DSC 분석을 통해 확인하고 UTM을 통해 압출속도에 따른 기계적 물성의 변화를 측정하였다. SEM 모폴로지 분석결 과 압출온도가 증가할수록 분산상인 Nylon6,12 비드의 크기가 감소하였으며, Nylon6,12의 함량이 증가할수록 PBT 매 트릭스 내 Nylon6,12의 상분리 현상이 감소하였다. DSC 분석 결과도 같은 경향을 나타냈는데, 압출온도가 상승함에 따라 녹는점에 해당하는 피크들의 경계가 사라지고, Nylon6,12의 비율이 증가할수록 두 피크의 간격이 좁아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 한편 PBT/Nylon6,12 블렌드 미세모의 인장강도와 연신율 및 굴곡강도와 굴곡탄성률 모두 압출온도 가 260˚C 일 때까지 증가하였으나 그 이상의 온도에서는 오히려 감소하였다. 260˚C에서의 인장강도와 연신율, 굴곡 강도, 굴곡탄성률은 각각 560 kgf/cm2와 220%, 807 kgf/cm2, 22,146 kgf/cm2였는데 이는 PBT와 Nylon6,12의 중간 값을 상회하는 수치로 두 물질이 압출성형에 의한 블렌드 효과가 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이처럼 우수한 상용성을 보일 때의 블렌드 압출 조건들을 토대로 하여 core/shell 구조의 이중구조 미세모를 제조하였다. Poly (butylene terephthalate) (PBT)/Nylon6, 12 core/shell micro fiber were prepared by extrusion molding, To investigate their optimum extrusion conditions, compatibility of PBT/Nylon6, 12 blend micro fiber in conformity to their weight ratio and manufacture temperature was explored with SEM morphology and DSC, The alterations in their mechanical properties by extrusion speed were compared and analyzed through a UTM. In comparison with SEM figures, the domain sizes of Nylon6, 12 were gradually declined by increasing the extrusion temperature of blends. Furthermore, according to these SEM images, the phase separation between Nylon6, 12 domain and PBT matrix became indistinct with increasing of weight percentage of Nylon6, 12. In case of DSC, the boundaries of two peaks were almost disappeared when increasing the extrusion temperature and also intervals of each two melting peaks became narrow as increasing the Nylon6, 12 ratio, The mechanical properties including tensile strength, elongation, flexural strength and flexural modulus were increased as the increase in the extrusion temperature until 260˚C. However, the mechanical properties were actually deteriorated over 260˚C. The tensile strength, elongation, flexural strength and flexural modulus at 260˚C were 560 kgf/cm2, 220%, 807kgf/cm2 and 22,146 kgf/cm2, respectively. These values are more than intermediate values of mechanical properties of PBT and Nylon6, 12. These results mean that there is compatibility between PBT and Nylon6, 12. Based on the extrusion conditions that produced optimum compatibility of blend, as a result, our group obtained micro fibers with the core/shell structure.

        安東은 文化와 敎育의 傳統을 오늘날까지 지녀오고 있는 地域이다. 그러나 이러한 가운데 地域的 安住性과 閉鎖性이 짙어졌고, 成長과 效率을 중시한 그간의 國土開發過程에서 상대적으로 疎外되면서 이제는 全國地方都市圈중 人口流出이 가장 심하고, 經濟·社會的 綜合開發水準이 가장 낮은 地域의 範疇에 머물게 되었다. 이와 같이 落後된 安東地役圈의 産業育成戰略을 모색해 보는 것은 國土均衡開發의 次元에서도 매우 의미있는 일이다.
