      • Monitoring and Analysis of Galileo Services Performance using GalTeC

        The paper will give an overview of the mission of GalTeC and then concentrate on two main aspects. The first more detailed aspect, is the analysis of the key performance parameters for the Galileo system services and presenting a technical overview of methods and algorithms used. The second more detailed aspect, is the service volume prediction including service dimensioning using the Prediction tool. In order to monitor and validate the Galileo SIS performance for Open Service (OS) and Safety Of Life services (SOL) regarding the key performance parameters, different analyses in the SIS domain and User domain are considered. In the SIS domain, the validation of Signal-in-Space Accuracy SISA and Signal-in-Space Monitoring Accuracy SISMA is performed. For this purpose first of all an independent OD&TS and Integrity determination and processing software is developed to generate the key reference performance parameters named as SISRE (Signal In Space Reference Errors) and related over-bounding statistical information SISRA (Signal In Space Reference Accuracy) based on raw measurements from independent sites (e.g. IGS), Galileo Ground Sensor Stations (GSS) or an own regional monitoring network. Secondly, the differences of orbits and satellite clock corrections between Galileo broadcast ephemeris and the precise reference ephemeris generated by GalTeC will also be compared to check the SIS accuracy. Thirdly, in the user domain, SIS based navigation solution PVT on reference sites using Galileo broadcast ephemeris and the precise ephemeris generated by GalTeC are also used to check key performance parameters. In order to demonstrate the GalTeC performance and the methods mentioned above, the paper presents an initial test result using GPS raw data and GPS broadcast ephemeris. In the tests, some Galileo typical performance parameters are used for GPS system. For example, the maximum URA for one day for one GPS satellite from GPS broadcast ephemeris is used as substitution of SISA to check GPS ephemeris accuracy. Using GalTeC OD&TS and GPS raw data from IGS reference sites, a 10 cm-level of precise orbit determination can be reached. Based on these precise GPS orbits from GalTeC, monitoring and validation of GPS performance can be achieved with a high confidence level. It can be concluded that one of the GalTeC missions is to provide the capability to assess Galileo and general GNSS performance and prediction methods based on a regional and global monitoring networks. Some capability, of which first results are shown in the paper, will be demonstrated further during the planned Galileo IOV phase, the Full Galileo constellation phase and for the different services particularly the Open Services and the Safety Of Life services based on the Galileo Integrity concept.

        Acupuncture Treatment in Feline Horner’s Syndrome: Case Report

        A about 2-month- old, mixed female cat was refered to Yeon Chang Veterinary Clinic in Taiwan. Becausethis patient was wandering cat, precise history was not known. At first admision, miosis, ptosis and protrusion of the nictitating membrane was observed in the right sided eye, and also slight miosis was found in the left sided eye. The patient was diagnosed into feline HS. Oculo-AP and injection-AP with dexamethasone were applied to this patient. minutes. In addition, injection-AP with dexamethasone (0.2 ml/acupoint) at BL01-Jing Ming, BL02-Zan Zhu and ST01-Cheng Qi. After AP treatment, prolapse of the nictitating membrane was amazingly disapeared and pupil was dilatated at sesion 1. Ocular findings at sesion 2 (one day after sesion 1) were maintained with nearly normal state. Accordingly, the present patient was a case with feline HS that showed favorable therapeutic effect by AP treatment.

        Protective Effect of Millettia reticulata Benth Against $CCl_4$-Induced Hepatic Damage and Inflammatory Action in Rats

        The effects of the water extracts of Millettia reticulata Benth (WEMRB) and its active compound (protocatechuic acid [PCA]) on acute hepatic injury and inflammation in $CCl_4$-induced Sprague-Dawley rats were investigated. Sprague-Dawley rats were orally treated with WEMRB or PCA for 28 consecutive days, and then the rats were given an intraperitoneal injection with $CCl_4$. Pretreatment with WEMRB or PCA significantly lowered the $CCl_4$-induced serum levels of hepatic enzyme markers (aspartate and alanine aminotransferases). Liver histopathology showed that WEMRB reduced the incidence of cytoplasmic vacuolization and necrosis induced by $CCl_4$ in rats. Pretreatment with WEMRB also showed anti-inflammation on the expression of cyclooxygenase-2, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and myeloperoxidase, as well as nitrite and nitrate levels in the $CCl_4$-induced Sprague-Dawley rats. The results suggest that oral administration of WEMRB decreases the hepatotoxic effects by increasing glutathione-dependent antioxidant enzyme activity, thereby reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in $CCl_4$-induced Sprague-Dawley rats.

        Effect of Threonine Addition to a Low Protein Diet on IgG Levels in Body Fluid of First-Litter Sows and Their Piglets

        First-litter gilts were used to determine how different dietary treatments during gestation affect the reproductive performance of gilts and immunity development of their piglets. Twenty-two crossbred $Landrace{\times}Yorkshire$ gilts were randomly assigned to three dietary treatments, Following conception, the gilts were fed experimental diets until farrowing occurred. The diet for treatment I was low protein diet (8% CP), treatment 2 had an additional supplement of 0.14% threonine that was added to the low protein diet, and treatment 3 was a control diet containing 12% CP. During gestation, net body weight gain of sows in treatment group 2 was higher than in treatment group 1 (p=0,075), However, during lactation there was no difference between all treatments groups on body weight loss and their live piglets at birth. Although milk IgG between treatments did not differ, treatment groups 2 and 3 were slightly higher than treatment group I was, Plasma IgG concentrations in piglets were however equal within all treatment groups at birth and at 7 days of age, at 21 days of age, it was higher in treatment group I than it was in the other two groups (p<0.01), Threonine supplementation to a low protein diet during gestation slightly increases milk IgG of sows, It is beneficial for piglets to acquire more passive immunity, but a suppressive effect was also noted on the endogenous IgG synthesis in piglets. A gestation diet of 8% CP for gilts can stimulate immuno-system of her piglets.

        Unified theory of reinforced concrete-A summary

        A unified theory has recently been developed for reinforced concrete structures (Hsu 1993), subjected to the four basic actions - bending, axial load, shear and torsion. The theory has five components, namely, the struts-and-ties model, the equilibrium (or plasticity) truss model, the Bernoulli compatibility truss model, the Mohr compatibility truss model and the softened truss model. Because the last three models can satisfy the stress equilibrium, the strain compatibility and the constitutive laws of materials, they can predict not only the strength, but also the load-deformation history of a member. In this paper the five models are summarized to illustrate their intrinsic consistency.

        This paper presents how airline passenger service requirements can be analyzed by using Kano’s model of quality element classification as well as discusses the potential benefits that can be achieved by applying this approach to make marketing strategy planning. According to Kano’s model, quality elements can be classified into three categories, namely Must-be, One-dimensional and Attractive needs, depending on their ability to create customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Results of this study suggest that airline passenger service elements could be classified analogously with Kano’s model to identify the most important passenger service elements. Impacts of the service elements features on passenger satisfaction or dissatisfaction have been also calculated as measurement indices for improvement.

      • Using Frequency Domain Reflectometry for Rapidly Measurement of Peanut Moisture Content

        In order to achieve rapidly measurement of peanut moisture content, the Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR) system was designed and develop by combining a dual-probe frequency domain reflectometer and Latte Panda. For the peanut moisture content FDR measurement, the calibration curve is necessary to define at first. The peanut samples (Tainan No.9 and Tainan No.18) are separate into pods and kernels and pulverized into granule shape for the measurement. The samples are baked in the oven at 130°C for 6 hours for removing the water content and defined it as 0% moisture content. Then the different weights of water have been added into samples for making different moisture content peanuts. The different dielectric constant measured by FDR sensor system is corresponded as the different moisture content. The calibration curve can be obtained from the relationship between the different moisture content peanut samples and the corresponding dielectric constant. During the FDR measurement, 32 N/㎡ applying force to the sample is necessary for eliminating the air gap. Furthermore, different methods for measuring the peanut moisture content were carried out in the factory with the drying machine. The comparison and results of different measure methods during the drying process at factory has been completed. The result shows that different measuring method have the same peanut moisture content trend. In addition, another method for obtaining the calibration curve was carried out in this work. The peanuts were baked to different moisture content and measured the corresponding dielectric constant. The calibration curves of peanut’s pods and kernels and the accuracy test has been defined. The both correlation coefficients of the testing samples are more than 0.97. It proves that this proposal FDR system have high accuracy and is enable to rapidly measure from 5% to 60% moisture content of peanut.

        Rock mass permeability classification schemes to facilitate groundwater availability assessment in mountainous areas: a case study in Jhuoshuei river basin of Taiwan

        This study proposes an application of the classical rock mass classification concept on the estimation of in situ hydraulic conductivity of regolith and fractured bedrock which can be utilized to evaluate groundwater potential in mountainous areas. On the basis of boring logs, borehole televiewer image data, and double packer hydraulic test data conducted in the Basin of Jhuoshuei River of central Taiwan with the aid of bivariate analysis, two rock mass permeability classification systems (Hydro-Potential value for Regolith (HPR) and Hydro-Potential value for Bedrock (HPB) System) were developed. By regression analysis, the dependence of HPB/HPR on in situ hydraulic conductivity was performed, and two empirical models for estimating in situ hydraulic conductivity were derived. Meanwhile, two derived models were validated through the comparison against results from other types of hydraulic test data (pumping and single packer tests). Therefore, the development of the empirical models for a groundwater-related project enables to help the planning of detailed investigations for the determination of hydraulic conductivity with cost-effectiveness.

        SECURITY IN EAST ASIA Domestic Motivation and the Case of the East China Sea ADIZ: Diversion or Mobilization?

        China`s declaration of an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) in the East China Sea shocked the international community, and many explanations have been offered about the motivation behind it. We argue that domestic politics played a key role in the ADIZ policy. However, existing studies have not paid sufficient attention to decisionmakers` political motivation. To fill this gap, we explore two distinct models: the diversionary foreign policy model and the mobilization model. Both models focus on the linkage between the state leader`s domestic political consideration and foreign policy behavior, but each has different theoretical and empirical implications. Our findings suggest that the mobilization model offers a better explanation of the motivation for China`s move.
