The area around the ancient capital city of Gyeongju is one of the most tectonically active regions on the Korea, as demonstrated by instrumental and historical earthquake records. However, the numerous cultural heritage sites in and around Gyeongju mean that there are many restrictions on work that could verify the geological records of significant paleo-earthquakes. To overcome these restrictions, we conducted a paleoseismological study in the cultural heritage protection zones of Gyeongju to investigate the history of earthquakes along the Yangsan Fault. We mapped geomorphic and geological expressions of the fault, and we used non- or less-destructive investigative measures such as geophysical surveying and drilling. To constrain the timing of the surface deformation, Optically-Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) and 10Beryllium cosmogenic exposure age dating method are applied. Our results imply that the fault scarps expressed on the alluvial fan formed after 81 ka with a vertical offset-rate of >0.028 m/ka. Our study shows that near-surface geophysical and drilling survey, supplemented by dating, can play an important role in tracing active faults in areas where paleo-seismological excavation investigation is impossible due to protection of cultural properties.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Illicit psychoactive substances have threatened public health worldwide. An active metabolite of ADB-CHMINACA and MDMB-CHMINACA was identified for the first time in a powder-type product found in an airmail package. The structure of compound 1 was elucidated by a combination of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS), liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Compound 1 was proven to be an analogue of MDMB-CHMINACA, an indazole-based synthetic cannabinoid. The methyl ester group in MDMB-CHMINACA was replaced with a carboxylic acid group in compound 1. Compound 1 was determined as 2-[1-(cyclohexylmethyl)-1<I>H</I>-indazole-3-carboxamido]-3,3-dimethylbutanoic acid and named as DMBA-CHMINACA.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A new indazole-3-carboxamide class synthetic cannabinoid was identified. </LI> <LI> Compound 1 was named as DMBA-CHMINACA according to the EMCDDA guideline. </LI> <LI> DMBA-CHMINACA is a hydrolysed form of MDMB-CHMINACA. </LI> <LI> DMBA-CHMINACA is a potential CB1 and CB2 agonist. </LI> <LI> DMBA-CHMINACA can work as a synthetic precursor of several synthetic cannabinoids. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P>A sedimentary discontinuity is present in the late Pleistocene alluvial deposits exposed along the cliff in stream side, Gyeongju, Korea. Sedimentological study, Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) age dating, and X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) analyses were conducted in order to interpret the origin of the discontinuity surface. Based on the sedimentological study, these deposits can be divided into three distinct stages, in ascending order: (Stage 1) development of a braided stream flowing from south to north and deposition by debris flows from the mountain aside the stream during and/or after deposition of the braided stream; (Stage 2) deposition by intermittent events during a state of stagnation after the abandonment or migration of the previously existed braided stream; and (Stage 3) deposition of gravels from debris flows from the mountain aside the stream. Hornfelsic gravels are common in Stage 1, whereas andesitic gravels are predominant in Stage 3, suggesting the provenance change from Stage 1 to Stage 3. The discontinuity surface is laterally extensive and marked by a distinct carbonaceous dark grey horizon between Stage 2 and Stage 3. It is characteristic that rootlets mineralized by vivianite are present, and iron-oxide crusts are cutting across irregularly below the discontinuity surface. It is thus interpreted that the shift of depositional environment from an alluvial plain (Stage 2) (125ka) to an alluvial fan (Stage 3) (94-55ka) was an alluvial response to sea level change from the interglacial to the glacial. The development of iron-oxide crusts and diagenetic vivianite in the discontinuity surface suggests humid condition persisted during the paleoclimatic shift from the last interglacial to the last glacial stages.</P>

Recently, a number of adulterated products, which are advertised as hair-growth enhancer have been emerged among those who suffer hair loss disease. For continuous control of illegal products, in this study, a rapid and sensitive method for simultaneous screening of 12 compounds that enhance hair-growth was established to protect public health by ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole-orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS). Fragmentation pathways of them were proposed based on $MS^2$ spectral data obtained using the established method. In this analysis, the LODs and LOQs ranged from 0.05 to 50 ng/mL and from 0.17 to 167 ng/mL, respectively. The square of the linear correlation coefficient ($R^2$) was determined as more than 0.995. The intra- and inter-assay accuracies were respective 88-112 % and 88-115 %. Their precision values were measured within 5 % (intra-day) and 10 % (inter-day). Mean recoveries of target compounds in adulterated products ranged from 84 to 115%. The relative standard deviation of stability was less than 12 % at $4^{\circ}C$ for 48 h. The method was employed to screen 14 dietary supplements advertised to be effective for the treatment of hair loss. Some of the products (~21 %) were proven to contain synthetic drugs that promote hair growth such as triaminodil, minoxidil, and finasteride.

전세계는 CO₂ 규제강화와 에너지의 효율적 사용에 대한 사회적, 경제적 요구가 증대되면서 친환경 에너지 설비와 지능형 전력망(smart grid)가 크게 예상되고 있다. 이에 따라 기존 내연기관에 근거한 발전산업 및 자동차 산업은 필연적으로 청정에너지 기반의 전기에너지로 점진적으로 대체될 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, 청정 발전 시스템의 보급 확대와 기존 에너지의 효율적 사용을 위해서 2차전지 기반의 전력저장 기술과 연료전지 기반의 분산발전 기술이 향후 미래에너지 산업의 근간이 되는 중요한 기술들로 부상하게 되었다. 아연/공기전지는 현재는 연료전지 개념의 1차전지에 기술수준이 머물러 있지만 향후 미래에는 기존의 리튬이온전지의 낮은 에너지밀도를 극복할 수 있는 미래 2차전지 기술의 하나로 평가받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 연료전지 개념의 아연/공기전지에 대하여 기존의 수소연료전지 기반의 분산발전 분야에 적용한다면 약 1/10 이하의 가격으로 조기에 시장진입이 가능할 것으로 판단하여 사전 타당성 연구 및 대면적화를 위한 기초 설계인자 연구를 수행하였다. 연구결과, 소형 단전지부터 약 800cm2까지의 대면적 단전지까지 대면적화를 위한 기초연구를 실시하였으며, 4개의 cell로 구성된 최고출력 90W급 전해질 순환형 미니스택 시스템을 구성하여 발전시스템으로서의 가능성과 문제점 등을 도출하였다. 이러한 시험결과를 바탕으로 25개의 cell로 구성된 약 1kW 급 스택을 설계하여 향후 소형 발전시스템을 제작하고자 하였다.
