N-acetyl cysteine inhibits H2O2-mediated reduction in the mineralization of MC3T3-E1 cells by down-regulating Nrf2/HO-1 pathway

There are controversial findings regarding the roles of nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway on bone metabolism under oxidative stress. We investigated how Nrf2/HO-1 pathway affects osteoblast differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells in response to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), or both. Exposing the cells to H2O2 decreased the alkaline phosphatase activity, calcium accumulation, and expression of osteoblast markers, such as osteocalcin and runt-related transcription factor-2. In contrast, H2O2 treatment increased the expression of Nrf2 and HO-1 in the cells. Treatment with hemin, a chemical HO-1 inducer, mimicked the inhibitory effect of H2O2 on osteoblast differentiation by increasing the HO-1 expression and decreasing the osteogenic marker genes. Pretreatment with NAC restored all changes induced by H2O2 to near normal levels in the cells. Collectively, our findings suggest that H2O2-mediated activation of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway negatively regulates the osteoblast differentiation, which is inhibited by NAC. Involvement of Nrf2-Mediated Upregulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in Mollugin-Induced Growth Inhibition and Apoptosis in Human Oral Cancer Cells

<P>Although previous studies have shown that mollugin, a bioactive phytochemical isolated from <I>Rubia cordifolia</I> L. (Rubiaceae), exhibits antitumor effects, its biological activity in oral cancer has not been reported. We thus investigated the effects and putative mechanism of apoptosis induced by mollugin in human oral squamous cell carcinoma cells (OSCCs). Results show that mollugin induces cell death in a dose-dependent manner in primary and metastatic OSCCs. Mollugin-induced cell death involved apoptosis, characterized by the appearance of nuclear shrinkage, flow cytometric analysis of sub-G<SUB>1</SUB> phase arrest, and annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide staining. Western blot analysis and RT-PCR revealed that mollugin suppressed activation of NF-<I><I>κ</I></I>B and NF-<I><I>κ</I></I>B-dependent gene products involved in antiapoptosis (Bcl-2 and Bcl-xl), invasion (MMP-9 and ICAM-1), and angiogenesis (FGF-2 and VEGF). Furthermore, mollugin induced the activation of p38, ERK, and JNK and the expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and nuclear factor E2–related factor 2 (Nrf2). Mollugin-induced growth inhibition and apoptosis of HO-1 were reversed by an HO-1 inhibitor and Nrf2 siRNA. Collectively, this is the first report to demonstrate the effectiveness of mollugin as a candidate for a chemotherapeutic agent in OSCCs via the upregulation of the HO-1 and Nrf2 pathways and the downregulation of NF-<I><I>κ</I></I>B.</P>

Dans l’adaptation d’un roman pour le cinéma, le plus important, ce serait de garder la continuité entre les originals et les adaptés, et en même temps de créer la nouveauté. Dans cette étude, nous voulons essayer de trouver cette contradiction qu’on peut trouver au cours de l’adaptation, en comparant Les pluies saisonnières de Younhengil au film adapté de ce roman par KBS Media; et aussi le conte La poule qui sort de la cour de Whangseunmi au film d’animation adapté de ce conte. D’abord nous avons constaté que les oeuvres littérales ont l’avantage de la description psychologique des personnages; en réalité le cinéma aurait plus de difficulté pour bien poursuivre le cours psychologique des personnages avec des images. Par contre les oeuvres en image ont l’avantage de montrer plus facilement les événements par des images, et d'intéresser plus directement les spectateurs aux intrigues. En fait, le film d’animation a changé de l’atmosphère philosophique du conte en introduisant de nouveaux caractères et surtout le concours des canards. Enfin nous avons trouvé qu’il faut considérer avant l’adaptation, pour bien réussir au ‘storytelling’, ce genre des avantages et des désavantages.

한국기업의 해외기업인수 결정요인에 관한 연구

본 연구는 한국기업의 해외기업인수의 증대에 부응하여 이의 결정요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 해외기업인수 결정요인은 모기업의 국제화 경험, 인수지역의 진출경험, 인수기업의 규모, 모기업의 연구집약도, 제품수명주기 등의 여섯 가지로 파악되었다. 모기업의 국제화경험은 그 정도가 높을수록 해외기업에 대한 인수성향이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 인수지역에 대한 진출경험은 해외기업인수시 현지의 기업환경 또는 기업문화에 생소하지 않고 적응가능하게 하여 기업인수에 대한 불확실성을 제거해준다. 특히 한국기업과 같은 개도국의 경우 초기 인수전략의 특성상 해당 투자동일 지역에 이미 자화사가 진출해 있는 경우 현지기업의 매각정보입수 및 기존의 사업관계등으로 신설보다는 인수전략을 선택할 가능성이 높아진다. 또한 과거국내기업의 인수경험이 있는 기업은 국내기업의 인수를 통해 인수작업을 학습할 수 가 있어 새로운 조직적변화에 보다 효과적으로 대처할 수 있다. 인수기업의 규모는 그 정도가 클 수록 상대적으로 많은 경영자원과 생산설비를 투입할 수 있는 여력이 있는 것으로 보아 인수행위에 보다 적극적이라 하겠다. 한국기업의 해외기업인수의 대표적인 사례의 분석에서는 두 기업모두 선진시술의 취득, 기존시장의 보호 및 개척, 원자재 확보의 동기로 투자가 되었다. 이는 한국기업의 해외투자의 특성을 잘 대변해 주는 것이라 하겠다. 특히 선진기술의 취득을 위한 해외기업인수와 해외시장 확보 및 개척을 위한 해외기업인수의 중요성은 최근들어 가격경쟁력의 약화, 선진각국의 기술보호조치로 인하여 기술도입이 점차어려워지도 있다는 점에서 볼 때 해외기업인수가 갖는 의미는 매우 크다고 하겠다.

Carrierless Amplitude Modulation/Phase Modulation(CAP) has the same spectral characteristics and provides the same theoretical performance as QAM, but is generally less complex to implement digitally. In this paper, a 52 Mbps CAP transceiver system is modeled and simulated according to DAVIC VDSL standard. Also we analyzed error rate characteristics under AWGN channel by using MATLAB.

자원준거시각에서 정보기술자원이 전자상거래의 전략적 편익과 성과에 미치는 영향

본 연구의 목적은 정보기술자원이 전자상거래의 전략적 효과성과 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향을 파악하는 것이다. 이와 더불어 전자상거래를 수행하는 기업의 성과에 전자상거래의 전략적 효과성이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 파악하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 정보기술자원을 유형자원, 무형자원, 기업능력으로 나누어 제시를 하였다. 그리고 전자상거래 수행 기업이 얻을 수 있는 전략적 효과성으로는 비용중심, 투자중심, 서비스중심, 수익중심의 차원을 제시하였다. 연구목적으로 달성하기 위하여 연구모형과 관련 가설을 제시하였다. 연구대상은 국내 제조기업 중에서 전자상거래를 수행하고 있는 기업이고 설문조사기법을 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구모형에 적합한 분석기법을 이용하여 연구모형을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 전자상거래의 전략적 효과성 중에서 서비스 중심에 대하여 정보기술자원이 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 정보기술자원은 기업성과에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 전자상거래의 전략적 효과성 중에서 서비스 중심이 기업성과에 정에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. The object of this study is to explore information technology resource affecting strategic benefits of electronic commerce and firms' performance. The other object is to explore benefits of electronic commerce affecting firms' performance. We propose that information technology resources composed tangible resources, intangible resources, firms capabilities. Strategic benefits of electronic commerce consist of service center, investment center, cost center, profit center. We proposed research model and related hypothesis. To test hypothesis of this study data are collected from manufacturing company in Korea by survey research. We analyse the research model by adequate statistical method. The result are as follows: (1) information technology resources affect service center of strategic benefits (2) information technology resources affect firms' performance. (3) service center of strategic benefits affects firms' performance.

6자 회담과 북·미의 전략

북한 핵문제는 테러와의 전쟁을 수행하는 미국의 21세기 신국제질서창출을 위한 세계전략과 핵무기만이 체제유지와 경제난을 해결해줄 수 있는 유일한 수단으로 삼고 있는 북한의 생존전략이 충돌함으로써 발생하였다. 이라크전쟁이 수행되는 와중에서 2차례 6자회담을 통해 참여국들은 핵무기없는 한반도를 평화적인 방식으로 구축하는데 원칙적으로 합의하는 성과를 거두었다. 협상을 통해 북핵문제를 해결하기 위해 미국은 북한의 우선적인 핵폐기를 주장하고 북한은 미국이 우선적으로 체제보장과 경제적 보상을 실시할 것을 요구하고 있다. 양자간의 불신과 적대감은 협상을 어렵게 하고 있지만 상황의 복잡성과 참여국들의 북핵문제의 평화적 해결에 대한 필요성으로 점차 해결의 실마리를 풀어가고 있다. 다만 미국의 대선 결과에 따라 북핵문제의 해법이 변화할 가능성이 커짐에 따라 미국과 북한은 상황을 악화시키지 않으면서 대선 이후 본격적인 협상에 대비하여 각자 유리한 환경과 전략을 모색하고 있다. 현재의 추세라면 미국은 CVID 원칙을 유지하면서 북한의 실리를 보장하고 북한은 핵무기 없이 체제를 유지할 수 있는 확고한 보장을 확보하는 전략의 수정을 통해 북핵문제가 평화적으로 해결될 가능성이 높아지고 있다. North Korea’s nuclear problems in 2002 have been initiated by the conflicts between the United States, which has pursued wars against the terrorism in an effort to build a new international order of the 21st century, and the DPRK that is considering nuclear weapons as the key to guarantee its security as well as its economic prosperity. The two states with other member countries of the Six-party talks have fmally achieved a conclusion to build the nuclear-weapon free Korean Peninsula. At the talks the US maintained its principle of ‘complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement(CVID)’ of North Korea’s nuclear programs while the DPRK demanded the US to guarantee its security and provide economic compensations. Even if the distrust and hostility between the two laid some troubles for the talks, complexity of the situation and the sincerity of the participants seem to bring optimistic expectations for the peaceful solution. The US Presidential election in November will be a turning point for the Korean Peninsula in terms of expectations for better deals. After the election, the US would probably agree to guarantee North Korea’s existence by providing material benefits while the DPRK would adopt a more realistic strategy to live without nuclear weapons mainly because both sides had experienced lessons of the nuclear issues in the past and the dynamic and unique situations in Northeast Asia.
