NGUYEN, Thi Hanh Duyen,LE, Van Luyen,HAU, Nguyen Van,DO, Duc Tai,THAO, Nguyen Thi Thu Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.9
In recent years, the quality of auditing human resources in domestic auditing firms in Hanoi has certain limitations in which professional skills of auditors have not been given adequate attention. The number of customers at local auditing firms is forecast to increase gradually. Therefore, the quantity and quality of auditors need to be improved to meet requirements of the workload. Data for this research were collected through surveying 120 customers of domestic auditing firms in Hanoi on the 5-point Likert scale. Based on the collected data, we employ both qualitative and quantitative methodology along with some tools such as descriptive statistics, Cronbach's Alpha, T-test and ANOVA to analysis, evaluate and measure the professional skills of auditors in local auditing firms in Hanoi. The results show that the professional skills of auditors in auditing firms include 17 attributes. The majority of respondents show appreciation for the professionalism and professional competence of auditors, while, they think that critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills are still limited and need to be improved. These findings, not only help auditors to improve themselves, but also provide solutions for managers of domestic auditing firms in Hanoi to enhance quality of audited human resources.
Determinants of Liquidity of Commercial Banks: Empirical Evidence from the Vietnamese Stock Exchange
Hanh Thi Van NGUYEN,Dut Van VO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.4
The objective of this study is to examine the determinants of the liquidity of 17 commercial banks listed on the Vietnamese Stock Exchanges, HOSE, HNX and UPCoM. The study uses the quarterly audited financial statements from the first quarter of 2006 to first quarter of 2020; it includes 496 observations. Data on GDP and inflation are compiled from the International Monetary Fund and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. Once collected, the data were organized along the line of unbalanced panel data. The results show that total asset size, return on total assets, and credit growth are positively associated with the liquidity of the listed banks; whereas the interaction between the bank size and the return on total assets has a negative impact on the liquidity of commercial banks listed on the HNX, HOSE, UPCoM. In order to maintain good liquidity, commercial banks need to focus on effective credit growth, ensure a high rate of profit over total assets, and at the same time focus on developing the scale of total assets. However, the development of the size of the total assets should be noted in the balance between the total assets and the rate of return on the total assets.

The 3C-like protease (3CL(pro)) of severe acute respiratory syndrome associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) is vital for SARS-CoV replication and is a promising drug target. Recombinant 3CL(pro) was expressed in Pichia pastoris GS115 as a 42??kDa protein that displayed a K ( m ) of 15??±??2??관M with Dabcyl-KTSAVLQSGFRKME-Edans as substrate. Purified 3CL(pro) was used for inhibition and kinetic assays with seven flavonoid compounds. The IC(50) of six flavonoid compounds were 47-381??관M. Quercetin, epigallocatechin gallate and gallocatechin gallate (GCG) displayed good inhibition toward 3CL(pro) with IC(50) values of 73, 73 and 47??관M, respectively. GCG showed a competitive inhibition pattern with K ( i ) value of 25??±??1.7??관M. In molecular docking experiments, GCG displayed a binding energy of -14??kcal??mol(-1) to the active site of 3CL(pro) and the galloyl moiety at 3-OH position was required for 3CL(pro) inhibition activity.

In this work, a lactose biosensor was developed by co-immobilizing b-galactosidase (b-Gal) and glucose oxidase (GOx) on microelectrodes pre-modified with Pt/graphene/P(1,5-DAN) for estimation of lactose in dairy products to prevent lactose intolerance. The Pt microelectrode was modified with graphene and 1,5-polydiaminonaphthalene film. Graphene was synthesized by chemical vapor deposition on copper tape and manually transferred to the electrode surface. Polymeric P(1,5-DAN) was grafted on top of the graphene film by electropolymerization. Modified surface of the electrode was characterized by Raman spectra analysis, FE-SEM, AFM and cyclic voltammetry. The results indicated that deposition graphene film on electrode surface induced considerable enhancement in current signal, over 20 times as high as the uncoated electrode surface. The developed sensor was successfully used to determine lactose in model samples with sensitivity, correlation coefficient (R2) and limit of detection (LOD) estimated to be 1.33 mA/(mgml1), 0.995 and 1.3 mg/ml, respectively. The combined graphene and conductive P(1,5-DAN) could serve as a novel sensing platform on electrochemical sensors with superior sensitivity.

Abstract

Discharge of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) from wastewater has been increasingly alarmed, led to the advent of the treatment techniques. Among these methods, adsorption is regarded as a tunable and green approach with the utilization of mesoporous carbon (MC) as an efficient and recyclable adsorbent. Herein, we described the strategy for the synthesis of novel MC from Fe-MIL-88B as a self-sacrificial template. Three thermolysis temperatures (550, 750, and 950 °C) were investigated to compare the structural characteristics and absorbability towards selected NSAIDs compounds including diclofenac sodium (DCF), aspirin (APR), and ibuprofen (IBU). Effect of contact time (0–480 min), concentration (10–40 mg/L), pH (2–10), and MC dosage (0.1–0.5 g/L) was systematically studied. Kinetic and isotherm models were also used to find out the adsorption mechanism and behavior of NSAIDs pharmaceutical over MC materials. Proposed mechanism and recyclability test were rigorously studied to gain more insight into how the NSAIDs molecules adsorb on the MC materials and their potential towards drug treatment.

Highlights

Effect of thermolysis temperature on characteristics and absorbability towards anti-inflammatory drugs was conducted.

Kinetic, isotherm, and recyclability experiments were systematically studied.

Adsorption mechanisms including H-bond, π–π interaction, metal–oxygen bridging, and electrostatic attraction were rigorously proposed.

Outstanding adsorption capacity (∼144 mg/g), and excellent reusability were monitored with Fe-MIL-88B-derived mesoporous carbon.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum cause yield losses in numerous economically important crops. To develop a biocontrol agent, cell free extracellular compounds (ECs) of 5 bacterial strains Burkholdria sp. L1, Pseudomonas sp. L4, Pseudomonas chlororaphis VN391, Bacillus subtilis VN21 and Enterobacter sp. VN99 from Vietnamese fields, which reduced levels of R. solani root rot in lettuces and F. oxysporum root rot in tomatoes, were investigated. In a growth chamber, ECs of all antagonists markedly enhanced the biomass of lettuces (10 to 14.1%) and tomatoes (11.38 to 13.88%). In greenhouses, the disease`s severity on both crops treated with ECs of the antagonists was reduced significantly and biomass losses in the plants decreased markedly. The reduction level of R. solani root rot in lettuces was 75, 66.7, 50, and 16.7% by ECs of strains L1, L4, VN21 and VN391, respectively. The biomass of lettuces increased markedly by 29.13%, 21.67%, and 23.4% by ECs of strains L1, L4 and VN21, respectively. Similarly, the reduction levels of F. oxysporum root rot in tomatoes was 76.3, 75, 41.7 and 25% by ECs of strain L1, L4, VN21 and VN391, respectively, and the biomass was significantly enhanced by 14.42, 12.7 and 13%, respectively. The ECs of strain L1 exhibited the most effective bio-control agents to suppress R. solani and F. oxysporum.

Dielectric properties of xBaTiO₃–(1-x)CoFe₂O₄ composite materials have been investigated. Dielectric properties of BaTiO₃, CoFe₂O₄ and 0.5BaTiO₃–0.5CoFe₂O₄ samples show frequency dependence, which is classified as relaxor behavior with different relaxing degree. The relaxor behaviors were described using the modified Curier-Weiss and Vogel–Fulcher laws. Among three above samples, the BaTiO₃ sample has highest relaxing degree. Photoluminescence spectral indicated defects, which might in turn control relaxing degree.

This study describes the preparation and characterization of a green and safe membrane based on a natural polymer for metal adsorption. Natural rubber-grafted-(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) with a special nanostructure was synthesized by graft copolymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) onto the surface of natural rubber (NR) particles using tert-butylhydroperoxide/tetraethylenepentamine as initiators. Optimal conditions for achieving high conversion and grafting efficiency were identified. Characterization of the as-synthesized samples was performed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, tensile measurement, swelling degree determination, and cytotoxicity testing. The results revealed that HEMA formed a nanoscale matrix surrounding NR particles, which improved the tensile strength, thermal resistance, and swelling degree of the as-prepared samples. Cytotoxicity testing demonstrated that the membrane was safe for human use, as it did not exhibit toxicity to Vero cells at concentrations up to 1024 μg/mL. Furthermore, the membrane displayed a high adsorption capacity toward Fe3+ and was well described by Koble-Corrigan isotherm model and the first–second-order kinetic equation. Moreover, the membrane demonstrated excellent recyclability maintaining its adsorption ability towards Fe3+ ions over five consecutive cycles. Overall, these findings may recommend the NR-HEMA membrane as a promising candidate for metal removal applications.
