A Study on Particle Filter based on KLD-Resamplingfor Wireless Patient Tracking
Nga Ly-Tu,Thuong Le-Tien,Linh Mai 대한산업공학회 2017 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.16 No.1
In this paper, we consider a typical health care system via the help of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for wireless patient tracking. The wireless patient tracking module of this system performs localization out of samples of Received Signal Strength (RSS) variations and tracking through a Particle Filter (PF) for WSN assisted by multiple transmitpower information. We propose a modified PF, Kullback-Leibler Distance (KLD)-resampling PF, to ameliorate the effect of RSS variations by generating a sample set near the high-likelihood region for improving the wireless patient tracking. The key idea of this method is to approximate a discrete distribution with an upper bound error on the KLD for reducing both location error and the number of particles used. To determine this bound error, an optimal algorithm is proposed based on the maximum gap error between the proposal and Sampling Important Resampling (SIR) algorithms. By setting up these values, a number of simulations using the health care system’s data sets which contains the real RSSI measurements to evaluate the location error in term of various power levels and density nodes for all methods. Finally, we point out the effect of different power levels vs. different density nodes for the wireless patient tracking.
Thermoneutral Housing Exacerbates Liver Fibrosis In Mice
( Nga Thi Ha ),( Ho Yeop Lee ),( Hyon-seung Yi ) 대한간학회 2020 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2020 No.1
Aims: Thermoneutral condition has been had a significant impact on metabolic studies. The roles of brown adipose tissue (BAT) on metabolic disease including obesity or fatty liver is receiving increasing attention. Here, we investigated the impact of thermoneutral condition on hepatic fibrosis as well as the contribution of BAT on regulation liver fibrosis in mice. Methods: In this study, we used carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induced liver fibrosis mouse model and hepatic stellate cells isolated from mice in order to checked fibrotic marker in mice livers housed under room temperature and thermoneutral condition for three weeks. We also compared the changes in the population of hepatic immune cells and the deposition of collagen in mice livers between two kinds of housing conditions. Furthermore, we investigated the effect of secreted factors from brown adipocytes-conditioned media on hepatic stellate cells (HSC) activation process. Results: Serum levels of liver injury and the expression of Col1a1, Acta2 and inflammatory cytokines were up-regulated in the liver of mice under thermoneutral condition compared to room temperature. Moreover, inactivation of BAT by thermoneutrality aggravated hepatic collagen deposition as well as promoted the activation of hepatic stellate cells during CCl4-induced liver fibrogenesis. In consistent with these findings, we also found that the population of infiltrating liver immune cells and pro-inflammatory cytokine-producing T cells was significantly increased in thermoneutral housing mice livers. Treatment of brown adipocytes-conditioned media attenuated HSC activation through down-regulated expression of a-SMA at day 4, day 7 and day 10 cultured HSC. Conclusions: These results suggest that BAT inactivation by thermoneutrality contributes to the activation of pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic pathways in CCl4-induced liver fibrogenesis. Secreted factors released from BAT have potential roles on inhibiting HSC activation. Thus, BAT-liver axis may serve as a potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis.

The paper aims to investigate the factors of brand equity affecting the purchase intention of car buyers in Ho Chi Minh City. The authors use qualitative method and quantitative research to study the matters, specifically using scales and data collected for Cronbach alpha reliability testing, analysizing the discovery factor of EFA, CFA and verifying the regression models through AMOS software with SEM linear modeling. The study proposes four factors: (1) brand awareness, (2) self-expression value, (3) perceived quality, (4) brand psychology impacting on the brand loyalty and intention to buy cars of customers. The results show that all four factors are statistically significant for positive brand loyalty and purchase willing. The results showed that brand loyalty positively affects consumers' intention to buy cars. Among the factors included in the study, the brand psychology is a new factor which developed by experts in the context of Vietnam. This is the first study in Vietnam to quantify clearly the element of "crowd psychology" affecting the interests and habits of Vietnamese consumers. This explains why Vietnamese consumers prefer brands that are familiar in the market and some new cars with nice models and colors suitable for Vietnamese psychology.

Young plants of the commercially important timber species Hopea odorata Roxb. are seriously damaged by the psyllid Trioza hopeae Burckhardt & Vu in nurseries in South Central and Southern Vietnam. Farmers routinely use Class 1 toxic insecticides to control the psyllids but these pose serious health risks in the urban environment. As a precursor to developing a pest management strategy, we studied the life cycle of T. hopeae and trialed several control measures. Trioza hopeae is polyvoltine with overlapping generations peaking in mid wet season. Females laid approximately 135 eggs; however, there was a natural attrition rate of about 80% in first-instar nymphs due to the nymph’s inability to find a suitable feeding site. Feeding nymphs induced pit galls on young H. odorata leaves and were present on all trees examined during the study. The pre-adult life cycle lasted approximately 13 days and adult life span approximately seven days. Several toxic insecticides were found to be effective for controlling T. hopeae, but a novel non-toxic alternative was equally as effective. We discuss these methods and potential biological control measures.
The role of Patent on Foreign Direct Investment: Evidence in Vietnam
Nga Thi PHAM,Huong Thi Thu PHAM 한국유통과학회 2020 유통과학연구 Vol.18 No.6
Purpose: In the period of international integration, how is the implementation of intellectual property regulation in developing countries? Do intellectual property rights help attract more Foreign direct investment (FDI)? This study aims to show the effect of intellectual property rights, reflect in the number of patent registered (Patent distribution into two components: Patent_residents and Patent_non-residents) on FDI attraction in Vietnam. Research design, data and methodology: Using Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model for the data collected from 1990 to 2018 with EViews version 9 software. Conclusions: The results indicate that the number of patent protection has a positive effect on FDI in both short term and long term. In particular, only patent registration of foreign individuals and organizations has a significant positive effect on attracting FDI, while that of Vietnamese patents is not statistically significant. From the results of this study, we provide some recommendations to help attract FDI based on raising awareness of intellectual property rights: Increase international cooperation for innovation to learn and encourage patent; Improve the capac ity of inventing as well as the ability to register patents of Vietnamese people; Government agencies are tasked to support a nd review registration procedures; Encouraging patent registration based on the patent

Nonlinear Speed Control of PM Synchronous Motor with Extended Kalman Filter Observer
Nga Thi-Thuy Vu,Jin-Woo Jung 한국조명·전기설비학회 2011 조명·전기설비학회논문지 Vol.25 No.3
This paper proposes a nonlinear speed controller for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). In this paper, the load torque is estimated by an extended Kalman filter (EKF) observer because the proposed controller needs its knowledge. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experiments are performed under motor parameter variations with a prototype PMSM drive system.
