전남 완도지역의 붉가시나무 수간곡선식의 도출 및 수간재적표를 구축하기 위하여 몇가지 수간곡선 모형 이용을 통해 분석한 결과 다음과 같다. Max & Burkhart 등 3가지 수간곡선 모델의 적합성을 평가하기 위하여 통계량 및 잔차분석을 수행한 결과, 붉가시나무 수간곡선을 가장 잘 표현하는 식으로는 Kozak 모형이 가장 우수함을 알 수 있었다. 잔차분석에 있어서도 Max & Burkhart모형과 Lee 모형이 상대수고가 낮은 부분에서 다소 직경 값을 과소 추정하는데 비하여 Kozak 모형은 고른 잔차를 보여 주었다. 따라서 Kozak 모형이 붉가시나무 수간곡선 추정 및 재적표 조제 도구로 최적 모형임을 알 수 있었다. 이를 이용하여 수간재적을 산출하게 되었는데, 이 표로 붉가시나무의 재적 정보 파악 및 경영관리에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. This study was carried out to develop equations for predicting stem taper for Quercus acuta in Wando district. We were used to derive three taper equations from Max and Burkhart, Kozak, and Lee functions. The models tested for choosing the best-fit equations were Max & Burkhart’s model, Kozak’s model, and Lee’s model. In result, all three models behaved similarly and estimated diameter well at all points along the stem, although Kozak’s model gave slightly better values of fit statistics. In plotting residuals against predicted diameter, Max & Burkhart's and Lee’s model showed underestimation in predicting small diameter. On the other hand, Kozak’s model was quite evenly distributed over the whole range of diameter. Based on the above analysis of three models in predicting stem taper, Kozak’s model was chosen for the best-fit stem taper equations. It was showed the stem volume table by this model, therefore this table was provided user with volume and management information.
유한 반사판을 갖는 Quadrifilar Helix 안테나의 해석 및 설계

유한 반사판을 갖는 Quadrifilar Helix 안테나의 복사특성을 해석하기 위하여 반사판을 WireGrid로 모델링하고 모멘트법을 적용하였다. 안테나의 구조피라미터를 변화시키면서 빔폭, 이득, 입력임피던스, 복사패턴을 계산하여 설계에 이용할 수 있는 데이터를 제시했다. 제시된 설계데이타를 이용하여 위성이동통신용 안테나를 제작하고 복사패턴과 이득, 축비등을 측정하였다. 복사특성 측정치는 이론적 계산치에 근접하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이득을 제외한 다른 복사특성들도 설계사양을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. The wire-grid model and moment method were adopted to analyze radiation characteristics of quadrifilar helix antennas with finite plate. Radiation characteristics for various structure parameters of the antenna were calculated and presented. A mobile satellite communication antenna was designed and manufactured by use of the presented data. The measured radiation charicteristics, such as axial ratio, half power beamwidth, radiation pattern are in good agreement with the computed results and well satisfy the design specifications except gain.

As time goes up, structural capacity of members decreases in reinforced concrete structures. The deterioration of the capacity is mainly due to the corrosion of materials, poor construction and environmental pollution, etc. This deterioration is unavoidable, thus it is necessary to develop the method for repair and retrofit of structures in order to ensure structural safety of members. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the load-deflection, ultimate strength, failure mode, and energy absorption effect. For the test, the specimen size of column is 20cm×20cm×90cm reinforced with 4 number of main bars of 13mm diameter, tied bars of 6mm diameter. The test results show that the increasement of bolt and bolt tension's quantity improve the ultimate strength and energy absorption capacity.
Systemic immune modulation using chemokine receptor 7 expressing porcine Sertoli cells

<P>Abstract: </P><P>Background: </P><P>Sertoli cells (SC) are known to have active mechanism for evading humoral immune response and are known to have immune modulatory effects in the presence of other antigens. This has led us to hypothesize that systemic immune modulating effect of SC might be optimized by their residence on peripheral lymph node. This study was designed to evaluate our new strategy to promote preventive or therapeutic effects of SC in systemic immune modulation for organ transplantation. </P><P>Methods: </P><P>For this purpose, we created chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7) expressing porcine SC (NPSCi-CCR7) to facilitate their migration into lymphoid organ in vivo and their potential to modulate systemic immune responses was evaluated using mouse allogeneic skin graft model. </P><P>Results: </P><P>Directed migration of NPSCi-CCR7 cells from periphery into lymphoid organs was dramatically promoted compared to control NPSCi cells. Also pre-transplantation of NPSCi-CCR7 significantly suppressed lymphocyte proliferation and prolonged the allogeneic skin graft survival. </P><P>Conclusion: </P><P>These results suggest that our new strategy to traffic SC to lymphoid organs using CCR7 is very effective and can be extended to traffic other immune modulatory cells or proteins to primary and secondary lymphoid structures to augment their therapeutic potential.</P>

The immunoprotective nature of the testes has prompted numerous investigations for supportive roles of Sertoli cells (SCs) during allogeneic or xenogeneic cellular grafts. These potential benefits afforded by SCs could be achieved by obtaining enough number of SCs that have most proliferative activity in primary isolation. To investigate the effects of neonatal hypothyroidism on SC proliferation and maturation, we examined the expression changes of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor (p27<SUP>KiP1</SUP>), androgen receptor (AR), and testicular transcription factors (WT1 and GATA-4) by immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis in 6-propyl-2-thiouracil (PTU)-induced hypothyroidal mice. The expression of p27<SUP>KiP1</SUP> was low in rapidly proliferating testicular cells but had increased strongly in non-proliferating periods. Delayed expressions of p27<SUP>KiP1</SUP> on testicular cells of hypothyroidal mice were consistent with the expression patterns of AR and WT1. Whereas GATA-4 expression was kept a constant in all groups. These results indicate that chemically-induced neonatal hypothyroidism may be a useful approach for improving cellular yields and proliferative activity.
In Situ Raman Spectroscopic Study of Al-Infiltrated Spider Dragline Silk under Tensile Deformation

<P>Natural materials consisting of protein structures impregnated with a tiny amount of metals often exhibit impressive mechanical behavior, which represents a new design paradigm for the development of biomimetic materials. Here, we produced Al-infiltrated silks by applying a modified Al2O3 atomic layer deposition process to the dragline silk of the Nephila pilipes spider, which showed unusual mechanical properties. The deformation behavior of the molecular structure of the Al-infiltrated silk was investigated by performing in situ Raman spectroscopy, where Raman shifts were measured concurrently with macroscopic mechanical deformations. For identifying the role of the infiltrated Al atoms, the study was performed in parallel with untreated silk, and the results were compared. Our experimental results revealed that superior mechanical properties of the Al-infiltrated silk are likely to be caused by the alterations of the sizes of the beta-sheet crystals and their distribution.</P>
Mechanism of Humoral and Cellular Immune Modulation Provided by Porcine Sertoli Cells

<P>The understanding of main mechanisms that determine the ability of immune privilege related to Sertoli cells (SCs) will provide clues for promoting a local tolerogenic environment. In this study, we evaluated the property of humoral and cellular immune response modulation provided by porcine SCs. Porcine SCs were resistant to human antibody and complement-mediated formation of the membrane attack complex (38.41±2.77% vs. 55.02±5.44%, <I>p</I>=0.027) and cell lysis (42.95±1.75% vs. 87.99±2.25%, <I>p</I><0.001) compared to immortalized aortic endothelial cells, suggesting that porcine SCs are able to escape cellular lysis associated with complement activation by producing one or more immunoprotective factors that may be capable of inhibiting membrane attack complex formation. On the other hand, porcine SCs and their culture supernatant suppressed the up-regulation of CD40 expression (<I>p</I><0.05) on DCs in the presence of LPS stimulation. These novel findings, as we know, suggest that immune modulatory effects of porcine SCs in the presence of other antigen can be obtained from the first step of antigen presentation. These might open optimistic perspectives for the use of porcine SCs in tolerance induction eliminating the need for chronic immunosuppressive drugs.</P>
