A HYBRID METHOD FOR INTEGRATING MULTIPLE ONTOLOGIES

<P> While there has been a variety of research focusing on ontology integration based on simple techniques (e.g., element- or structure-level techniques), the hybrid approaches combining the simple techniques have not been explored. In this paper we describe a hybrid method to integrate multiple ontologies in several levels, such as the element level, internal structure, and relational structure. A semantic supporting environment (SSE) combining special domains (e.g., WordNet) and text corpus are defined in the proposed approach. An enriched ontology model (EOM) has been proposed to reduce the initial complexity of the process of ontology integration. Subsequently, the semantic network called OnConceptSNet is provided. The relations between the concepts in the OnConceptSNet are derived from the SSE. An enhanced algorithm (EA) has been proposed to enhance OnConceptSNet.</P>

Factors Affecting Training Quality and Student Satisfaction: An Empirical Study in Vietnam

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the training quality of Van Lang University’s Finance Banking faculty (VLU). Another goal was to discover a way to increase training quality and give students the greatest experience possible. To achieve the following goals, qualitative research was used in combination with questionnaires and document reviews. A total of 700 surveys were sent out, with 624 responses. In-depth interviews with 12 graduates were conducted during the qualitative stage to obtain their perspectives on their time at VLU. The impact of five factors (instructor qualification, facility, education program, accessibility, and student interaction) was investigated in this study, and the findings revealed that all of them significantly mediated the relationship with the training quality of VLU’s Finance Banking faculty. The findings show that it is vital to improve the training quality to increase student satisfaction and boost their academic abilities. With the framework from this study, policymakers, researchers, and institutes can cooperate in developing and upgrading the general training quality at higher education institutions in Vietnam. Improving the training quality of a faculty will continue to be a challenge. Therefore, this is a topic that requires continuous research.

A Method for Selecting the Most Informative Iris Image from Real Time Video Stream

In this paper, we propose a method to select the most informative iris image from video stream of capture equipment. This method is a combination of three steps. The first is eye existence verifying which based on Haar cascade classifier. This step ensures the accepted image is an eye-image without users co-operation when data acquisition performs. The next steps are locating components of eye and pupil tracking. Finally, we use computed parameters from the second step to select the most informative iris image. Our method can be comparable to the previous approaches which are complex or require hardware support. It makes real-time iris based systems work effectively in data acquisition with acceptable speed and high accuracy.

Optimizing the Carrier Density and Thermoelectric Properties of Sb2Te3 Films by Using the Growth Temperature

In this work, we report on the structural and thermoelectric properties of Sb2Te3 films deposited on GaSb(111) substrates by using molecular beam epitaxy. The effects of the growth temperature on the microstructure and thermoelectric properties of the films were investigated. The results show that Sb2Te3 films grow on GaSb(111) along (00l) axis normal to the substrate and have a hexagonal structure with a layer-by-layer growth mode in growth temperature range from 200 to 250 °C while at 175 and 300 °C, the films show an island growth mode. Te and Sb2Te3 phases coexist at a growth temperature of 175 °C. The films exhibit a metallic behavior for growth temperatures below 250 °C and a semiconductor behavior at 300 °C. By changing growth temperature, we were able to vary the carrier density from 9.96×1018 to 4.55×1019 cm −3. At room temperature, the Seebeck coefficients are 110, 146, and 138 μV/K for growth temperatures of 175, 200 and 250 °C, respectively, and a large value of the power factor 61.67 μW/cm-K2 is achieved for the film grown at 250 °C.

Exploring the antecedents influencing smartphone app use in post-pandemic destination recovery: A case study of Danang FantastiCity adoption

Smart technological apps have been adopted at tourism destinations to facilitate tourists’ information needs and destination experiences. Using such applications becomes even much more essential for solo travelers who are likely to rely on the apps to organize their trip plans. However, little has been known about whether such smart technologies have been tailored in a way that meets tourists’ particular requirements in the situation of post-pandemic recovery. This study aimed to examine tourists’ acceptance and smartphone app use by adopting the extended theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) in a post-COVID-19 context. The two critical constructs including perceived convenience and context use are added to the theoretical framework to predict smartphone users’ satisfaction, travel experience satisfaction, and reuse intention. More specifically, a relevant smartphone app was selected to investigate the research phenomenon. The PLS-SEM method was utilized in this study to test the proposed research framework by employing 462 valid questionnaires from solo tourists visiting Da Nang City in a post-pandemic context. The findings indicate that using smartphone apps significantly influences the tourists’ satisfaction and intention to seek repetitive technology experiences while visiting a destination. Noticeably, the perceived convenience of technological apps indirectly influenced tourists’ use intention but the effort expectancy and performance expectancy of smartphone apps directly affect their behavioral intention. The study provides several practical implications for smart tourism destinations to tailor smartphone apps in a way that could improve tourists’ destination experience and foster post-pandemic destination recovery more sustainably.

베트남 북부 대학의 한국어(학)과 통·번역 교육의 현황과 과제

본고는 베트남 북부 지역의 한국어 통·번역 교육 현황을 점검하고 문제점 및 발전 방안에 대해 제시하였다. 한국과 베트남 간 교류가 활발해짐에 따라 통·번역가 수요가 증가하였고 베트남 내에서 한-베 통·번역 시장이 커지고 있다. 이런 시장 요구에 부응하기 위해 최근 베트남 내에 한국어(학)과를 설립하는 학교가 증가하고 있으며 특히 각 학교 내 통·번역 관련 직업 육성을 목적으로 하는 교과목을 다수 개설하고 있다. 그러나 현재 베트남 북부 대학의 한국어 통·번역 교육에 있어 적지 않은 문제를 발견할 수 있었는데 대표적으로 전문 통·번역 교수 부족, 교육 내용의 부실, 교재와 학습 자료 부족, 수업을 위한 시설 미흡, 학습자의 실천 기회 부족이다. 따라서 이를 해결하기 위해 수업 내용 다양화, 교재 개발, 교수진 양성, 수강생 수 조정, 현장 실습 강화의 다섯 가지 방안을 제시한다. This study examined the current status of Korean interpretation and translation education in northern Vietnam, presented problems and solutions. As exchanges between Korea and Vietnam become more active, the Korean-Vietnamese interpretation and translation market is growing in Vietnam and the demand for interpreters and translators is increasing. In order to meet this demand, more and more universities are establishing Korean language departments in Vietnam. Particularly, many courses are designed to promote related professions. However, the current Korean interpretation and translation education in northern Vietnam still has many problems, such as shortage of qualified professors; poor educational contents…, Therefore, this study proposed five solutions to improve these problems.

The Effect of Financial Restructuring on the Overall Financial Performance of the Commercial Banks in Vietnam

The study investigates and measures the impact of financial restructuring on overall financial performance of commercial banks in Vietnam. Survey data for this research were collected from audited financial reports of 28 commercial banks in Vietnam, for the period from 2008 to 2018. In the study, we have built a model of econometric regression with the dependent variable being financial results measured through ROA and ROE. The research methods used include Pooled Ordinary Least Square Model (POLS), Fixed Effects Model (FEM), Random Effects Model (REM), and different Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). The results showed that the account payables restructuring and owners' equity restructuring are much needed. Increasing the owners' equity, decreasing the account payables would improve the overall financial performance, bad debts restructuring to decrease bad debts would also improve the financial performance as well. However, the financial restructuring in the period 2012-2015 and 2016-2018, indeed worsen the financial performance during those times. The findings of this study suggest that the evaluation of the financial performance after restructuring of commercial banks in Vietnam must be based on longer data. At the same time, it is necessary to examine differences between various banking groups to draw accurate conclusions on financial performance.
