The global commercial cultivation of transgenic crops, including glyphosate-tolerant soybean, has increased widely in recent decades with potential impact on the environment. The bulk of previous studies showed different results on the effects of the release of transgenic plants on the soil microbial community, especially rhizosphere bacteria. In this study, comparative analyses of the bacterial communities in the rhizosphere soils and surrounding soils were performed between the glyphosate-tolerant soybean line NZL06-698 (or simply N698), containing a glyphosate-insensitive EPSPS gene, and its control cultivar Mengdou12 (or simply MD12), by a 16S ribosomal RNA gene (16S rDNA) amplicon sequencing-based Illumina MiSeq platform. No statistically significant difference was found in the overall alpha diversity of the rhizosphere bacterial communities, although the species richness and evenness of the bacteria increased in the rhizosphere of N698 compared with that of MD12. Some influence on phylogenetic diversity of the rhizosphere bacterial communities was found between N698 and MD12 by beta diversity analysis based on weighted UniFrac distance. Furthermore, the relative abundances of part rhizosphere bacterial phyla and genera, which included some nitrogen-fixing bacteria, were significantly different between N698 and MD12. Our present results indicate some impact of the glyphosate-tolerant soybean line N698 on the phylogenetic diversity of rhizosphere bacterial communities together with a significant difference in the relative abundances of part rhizosphere bacteria at different classification levels as compared with its control cultivar MD12, when a comparative analysis of surrounding soils between N698 and MD12 was used as a systematic contrast study.

Objective: The aim was to evaluate roles of vitamin D3 (VD3) and beta-carotene (BC) in the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in a high-risk area, Huai'an District, Huai'an City, China. Methods: 100 new ESCC diagnosed cases from 2007 to 2008 and 200 residency- age-, and sex-matched healthy controls were recruited. Data were collected from questionnaires, including a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) to calculate the BC intake, and reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) was used to measure the serum concentrations of BC and VD3. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated in conditional logistic regression models. Results: The average dietary intake of BC was $3322.9{\mu}g$ (2032.4-5734.3) in the case group and $3626.8{\mu}g$ (1961.9-5827.9) in control group per capita per day with no significant difference by Wilcoxon test (p>0.05). However, the levels of VD3 and BC in the case group were significantly lower than in the control group (p<0.05). The OR values of the highest quartile and the lowest quartile of VD3 and BC in serum samples were both 0.13. Conclusion: Our results add to the evidence that high circulating levels of VD3 and BC are associated with a reduced risk of ESCC in this Chinese population.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the united Electromagnetic characteristics for the effective monitoring on the static air-gap eccentricity (SAGE) of turbo-generator. Different from other studies, this paper not only studies on the unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) and the vibration characteristics of the stator and the rotor, but also investigates the harmonic features of the magnetic flux density and the circulating current inside the parallel branches (CCPB). The theoretical calculation, together with the finite-element-method (FEM) simulation and the experiment verification, is taken for a SDF-9 type non-salient generator. It is shown that, when SAGE occurs, apparent doublefrequency UMP and vibrations will be produced both on the stator and the rotor, while the CCPB will have an obvious increment at the 1st harmonic component. In addition, the amplitude of the magnetic flux density will be of cosine distribution in the circumferential position of the air-gap, while in normal condition it is a constant. Moreover, the pass-band amplitude, together with the 1st harmonic of the magnetic flux density, will be enlarged as well. These united electromagnetic characteristics can be used as the diagnosis and monitoring criterion for SAGE.

The thermal decomposition kinetics of 5-fluorouracil was studied by thermogravimetric analysis methodology. The decomposition activation energy was calculated by using Ozawa method by means of TGA in nitrogen atmosphere. Moreover, the decomposition mechanism and pre-factor were obtained by Coats-Redfern and Achar methods, respectively. It is found that the decomposition activation energy of fluorouracil is 105 kJ·mol−1. The decomposition mechanisms obtained by Coats-Redfern and Achar methods are G( α)=[−ln(1− α)]2/3 and f( α)=1.5(1− α)[−ln(1−α)]1/3 respectively, lnA is 21.40 min−1.

The competitive adsorption of Na(I)/Cr(III) and Cr(III)/Cu(II) on GMZ bentonite was studied by batch experiments. The results show that the bentonite has larger total adsorption amount of Cu(II) and Cr(III) in binary ions solution compared to that of single ion solution. Increasing of Na(I) concentration reduces the adsorption capacity of Cr(III) in their binary solution. The phenomenon Cr(III) has a lager adsorption than Cu(II) indicate that the adsorption capacity of Cu(II) is inhibited in their binary solution. The sequence of distribution coefficients (Kd) in the solution as follow: Kd binary (Cr) > Kd single (Cu) > Kd single (Cr) > Kd binary (Cu).

Mixing of two stratified miscible fluids in an eccentric stirred tank agitated by a four pitched-blade turbine was studied by using the detached eddy simulation (DES) model and volume of fluid (VOF) method. The fluids were operated in the transitional and mildly turbulent flow regimes. Interfaces between the two miscible fluids during the mixing processes were captured and mixing times were computed. Effects of the Richardson number and eccentricity on the mixing times were quantificationally analyzed. Results show that the spatial and temporal variations of volume fractions of the fluids can be well captured by the method presented in this study. Mixing time increases with the increase of Richardson number. Effect of eccentricity on mixing time depends on Richardson number and the eccentric agitation scheme is not advisable to use to blend the low-viscosity miscible fluids starting from a stratified state, especially for lower Richardson values.

In this study, two soybean genotypes, i.e., aluminum-tolerant Baxi 10 (BX10) and aluminumsensitive Bendi 2 (BD2), were used as plant materials and acidic red soil was used as growth medium. The soil layers from the inside to the outside of the root are: rhizospheric soil after washing (WRH), rhizospheric soil after brushing (BRH) and rhizospheric soil at two sides (SRH), respectively. The rhizosphere bacterial communities were analyzed by high-throughput sequencing of V4 hypervariable regions of 16S rRNA gene amplicons via Illumina MiSeq. The results of alpha diversity analysis showed that the BRH and SRH of BX10 were significantly lower in community richness than that of BD2, while the WRH exhibited no significant difference between BX10 and BD2. Among the three sampling compartments of the same soybean genotype, WRH had the lowest community richness and diversity while showing the highest coverage. Beta diversity analysis results displayed no significant difference for any compartment between the two genotypes, or among the three different sampling compartments for any same soybean genotype. However, the relative abundance of major bacterial taxa, specifically nitrogen-fixing and/or aluminum-tolerant bacteria, was significantly different in the compartments of the BRH and/or SRH at phylum and genus levels, indicating genotype-dependent variations in rhizosphere bacterial communities. Strikingly, as compared with BRH and SRH, the WRH within the same genotype (BX10 or BD2) always had an enrichment effect on rhizosphere bacteria associated with nitrogen fixation
