A cost-effective seismic recorder used to record the maximum acceleration and maximum velocity of earthquake strong-motion sequences together with the time of origin is developed. Taking advantages of the single-chip-computer-based design, it provides not only more information storage but also a low-power-comsumption capability and an easy method of data-collecting afterwards.

MgxNiyZn1-x-yFe2O4 ferrite powders were prepared by self-propagating high temperature synthesis followed by classifying with an ultrasonic wet-magnetic separation unit to get high pure nano-sized particles. The MgxNiyZn1-x-yFe2O4 ferrites were well formed by using several powders like iron, nickel oxide, zinc oxide and magnesium oxide at 0.1 MPa of oxygen pressure. The ultrasonic wet-magnetic separation of pre-mechanical milled ferrite powders resulted in producing the powders with average size of 800 nm. The addition of a surfactant during the wet-magnetic separation process improved productivity more than twice. The coercive force, maximum magnetization and residual magnetization of the MgxNiyZn1-x-yFe2O4 nano-powders with 800 nm size were 3651 A/m, 53.92 Am<SUP>2</SUP>/kg and 4.0 Am<SUP>2</SUP>/kg, respectively.

Hybrid $SiO_2-TiO_2$ photoelectrode with different type of layers was investigated in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). Use of a thin layer of nanocrystalline $TiO_2$ would imply reduction in the amount of dye coverage, however, lower amount of dye in the thin films would imply fewer electron generation upon illumination. So, thus, it becomes necessary to include a $SiO_2-TiO_2$ layer for increase light harvesting effect such that the lower photon conversion due to thin layer could be compensated. In this paper reports the use of transparent high surface area $TiO_2$ layer and an additional $SiO_2-TiO_2$ layer, thus ensuring adequate light harvesting in these devices. The best solar conversion efficiency 6.6% under AM 1.5 was attained with a multi-layer structure using $TiO_2$ layer/$SiO_2-TiO_2$ layer/$TiO_2$ layer for the light harvesting and this had resulted to about 44% increase in photocurrent density of dye-sensitized solar cells.

Korean enterprises and banks. however. still depend upon the established off-line transaction method and are in the primary stage of e-trade.<br/> Most of the studies on the application and activity of the e-trade settlement system like Bolero and Trade Card have been made from the perspective of the government and they are related to the constructions of the infrastructure and the suggestions for policy makers. complete success of e-trade is to support the e-Trade settlement,In Korea. banks maintain friendly relations with companies in trade transactions and enjoy the advantage of their brand value. global financial networks. and customers' confidence over their competitors.<br/> Through the e-trade settlement system. banks can get a lot profits not only from their services in the e-trade system. but also from other related services. They can enjoy the opportunity to strengthen their customer relationship and handle additional commodities or services. They will protect themselves with the system from the inroads into their markets by non-bank financial service providers or technology companies.<br/> Our paper deals with the problems of the e-trade and its settlement system from the perspective of banks and enterprises. 쇠뜨기(Equisetum arvense) 추출물의 항산화 활성 분석 및 ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ 저해활성

쇠뜨기 추출물을 이용하여 당뇨병에 대한 기능성 의약품 개발을 목적으로 쇠뜨기 가루의 화학성분, 항산화 활성을 조사하였다. 일반성분은 탄수화물이 53.20%로 탄수화물의 함량이 가장 높았다. 그 밖에 조회분, 조단백질, 수분, 조지방 순으로 나타났으며, 각각 20.42%, 15.32%, 8.85%, 2.21%로 나타났다. 쇠뜨기 가루에 가장 많은 무기성분으로는 K, Ca등 2종류가 기타원소에 비해 다량 함유되어 있었다. 이중 가장 많이 검출된 것은 K로 3768.12 mg/100 g으로 가장 많았으며, Ca은 1,130.44 mg/100 g로 나타났다. P, Mg, Na는 $180{\sim}110\;mg/100g$이며, 가장 적은 양을 보인 것은 Zn이 2.19 mg/100 g로 나타났다. 구성당은 총 2종이 분리 동정되었으며, 그 중 glucose가 13,351.88 mg/100 g, mannose는 1,616.31 mg/100 g으로 나타났다. 지방산 중 가장 많이 포함하고 있는 것은 linolenic acid$(C_{18:3})$가 42.83%으로 나타났으며 linoleic acid$(C_{18:2})$ 23.60%, palmitic acid$(C_{16:0})$ 19.00% 순으로 나타났다. 또한 총 지방산 중 포화지방산이 25.57%로 불포화 지방산이 포화지방산에 비해 3 배정도 많이 함유하고 있는 것으로 드러났다. DPPH 라디칼 소거법에 의한 쇠뜨기 추출물들의 항산화 활성은 70% ethanol 추출물의 항산화 활성$(IC_{50})$이 $168.1\;{\mu}g/ml$로 가장 높게 나타났고, 다음으로 70% methanol 추출물이 $187.8\;{\mu}g/ml$으로 나타났으며, chloroform 추출물이 $194.2\;{\mu}g/ml$, methanol, 물, ethanol추출물 순으로 나타났다. ${\alpha}-Glucosidase$ 측정값은 70% methanol 추출물에서 82.05%의 높은 저해 활성을 보였다. This study was carried out to investigate the chemical components, and antioxidative and $anti-{\alpha}-glucosidase$ activities of Equisetum arvense extracts. In Equisetum arvense extracts were composed of 53.20% of crude fiber, 20.42% of crude ash, 15.32% of crude protein and 2.21% of crude fat. Potassium was the most predominant mineral and followed by phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and sodium. The contents of the unsaturated fatty acids, such as linolenic acid, linoleic acid, and palmitic acid, were higher than those of saturated fatty acids. Seventy percent ethanol extract exhibited antioxidative activity with $IC_{50}$ of $168.1\;{\mu}g/ml$. The Seventy percent methanol extract showed higher ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibitory activity than other solvent extracts.
Extraocular Muscles Involvement as the Initial Presentation in Metastatic Breast Cancer

Orbital metastasis is a rare event, and metastatic disease affecting the extraocular muscles is an even less frequent complication of solid tumors. Herein, we report an unusual case of ptosis as the initial presentation of an invasive breast cancer. A 68-yearold woman presented with III and VI partial nerve paresis, secondary to a compressive retrobulbar mass. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an infiltrative lesion involving the extraocular muscles. Tissue biopsy yielded a result compatible with metastasis to the orbit, with immunohistochemistry analysis suggesting breast as the primary organ. Mammography identified an area of architectural distortion; stereotactic wire-guided biopsy confirmed the result of the previous orbital biopsy. A positron emission tomography scan demonstrated disseminated disease. Palliative chemotherapy with bone-modulating agents and subsequent hormonal therapy was proposed. Unfortunately, the patient did not respond to therapy and died 38 months after diagnosis.
