Pyruvate kinase isozyme type M2 (PKM2) was first found in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and its expression has been thought to correlate with prognosis. A large number of studies have demonstrated that epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a crucial event in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and associated metastasis, resulting in enhanced malignancy of HCC. However, the roles of PKM2 in HCC EMT and metastasis remain largely unknown. The present study aimed to determine the effects of PKM2 in EGF-induced HCC EMT and elucidate the molecular mechanisms in vitro. Our results showed that EGF promoted EMT in HCC cell lines as evidenced by altered morphology, expression of EMT-associated markers, and enhanced invasion capacity. Furthermore, the present study also revealed that nuclear translocation of PKM2, which is regulated by the ERK pathway, regulated ${\beta}$-catenin-TCF/LEF-1 transcriptional activity and associated EMT in HCC cell lines. These discoveries provide evidence of novel roles of PKM2 in the progression of HCC and potential therapeutic target for advanced cases.

Tian, Xin,Tian, Ye,Ma, Ping,Sui, Cheng-Guang,Meng, Fan-Dong,Li, Yan,Fu, Li-Ye,Jiang, Tao,Wang, Yang,Ji, Fu-Jian,Fang, Xue-Dong,Jiang, You-Hong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.3
Background: As a negative regulator of P53, MDM2 plays an important role in carcinogenesis; a polymorphism in its promoter region. SNP309 T>G, is known to increase the expression of MDM2, thus being considered related to higher susceptibility to neoplasia. However, no agreement has been achieved regarding its effects on gastric cancer. Methods: The present systematic meta-analysis was performed based on comprehensive literature search from Pubmed, Web of science and CBM databases. Results: It was suggested from 6 independent studies that the GG genotype is associated with a significantly increased risk of gastric cancer (Recessive: OR = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.08-1.91, P = 0.013), and subgroup analysis also confirmed the relationship (English publications-recessive model: OR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.10-1.91, P = 0.009; Studies in China-recessive model: OR = 1.58, 95% CI = 1.08-2.30, P = 0.017). No publication bias was detected. Conclusion: The meta-analysis indicated a significant inverse association between GG genotype carriage and elevated risk of gastric cancer. However, more studies and detailed information are needed to fully address the topic.
Orthogonal-Gradient Measurement Matrix Construction Algorithm
Pan, Tian,Choi, Youngjune,Tian, Shujuan,Fan, Xiaoping,Li, Zhetao,Sekiya, Hiroo Institution of Electrical Engineers 2016 Chinese journal of electronics Vol.25 No.1

An orthogonal-gradient measurement matrix construction algorithm is proposed for reducing the maximum and average mutual-coherence of sensing matrix. It shrinks Gram matrix based on equiangular tight frame theory. An orthogonal-gradient factor matrix is deduced. It obtains an optimized measurement matrix with the orthogonal-gradient factor matrix. The results of experiments show that the proposed algorithm effectively reduces the maximum and average mutual-coherence of sensing matrix. This leads to a better reconstruction performance for signals with different sparsities compared with Gaussian matrix, Elad's, Xu's, Vahid's and Li's methods.

Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery for Treatment of Earlystage Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Fan, Xing-Long,Liu, Yu-Xia,Tian, Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5
Objectives: To evaluate the safety, efficacy, and invasiveness of lobectomy by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in the treatment of stage I/II non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: A total of 148 patients presenting with Stage I or II NSCLC were enrolled into our study, comprising 71 who underwent VATS and 77 patients undergoing conventional thoracotomic lobectomy, in combination with systematic lymph node resection. Results: It was found that VATS was superior to conventional thoracotomy in terms of the duration of surgery, intraoperative blood loss, frequency of the need to administer postoperative analgesia, thoracic intubation indwelling time, post-operative hospital stay, and survival rate (P<0.05). We saw no obvious difference in the number of resected lymph nodes with either approach. Conclusions: VATS lobectomy is a safe and reliable surgical approach for the treatment of Stage I/II NSCLC, characterized by significantly minimal invasiveness, rapid post-operative recovery, and markedly lower loss of blood.
Increasing the Productivity of TNFR-Fc in GS-CHO Cells at Reduced Culture Temperatures
Tian-Ci Kou,Li Fan,Yan Zhou,Zhao-Yang Ye,Liang Zhao,Wen-Song Tan 한국생물공학회 2011 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.16 No.1
In an effort to improve TNFR-Fc production in GS-CHO cells, batch cultures were performed to investigate the effects of low culture temperature on TNFR-Fc production. It was observed that low culture temperatures resulted in cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase, led to suppressed cell growth, and prolonged the culture period. Although the highest TNFR-Fc concentration was achieved with a culture temperature of 32°C at 247.4 mg/L, the maximum q_(TNFR-Fc) of 15.7 pg/cells/day was achieved at 30°C. Because the inhibition effect on cell growth at 30°C compromised its beneficial effects specifically to TNFR-Fc productivity, TNFR-Fc concentration at this temperature was not significantly increased. Furthermore, the increase in productivity of specific TNFR-Fc at low culture temperatures was also found to be due to an increase in the transcriptional level of the TNFR-Fc gene, determined by RT-PCR analysis. In addition, low culture temperatures had no significant effect on the degree of sialylation of TNFRFc. Taken together; a biphasic cultivation process developed in a fed-batch mode with a low temperature-production phase enhanced TNFR-Fc production by GS-CHO cells and therefore offers major potential for bioprocess optimization.

( Fan-long Jin ),( Tian-yi Zhang ),( Qing-qing Pang ),박수진 한국공업화학회 2015 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2015 No.0
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is considered a material highly suited for industrialization because of its many advantages. However, despite its high tensile modulus and strength, one of the drawbacks of PLA is its poor toughness due to the stiff backbone chain, which restricts its use in many fields. Bio-based PLA blends were prepared by the solution blending of PLA and poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL). The effect of PCL content on the fracture toughness, mechanical properties, and morphology of PLA was investigated using several techniques. As a result, the fracture toughness of PLA was significantly improved by the addition of PCL.
Computation of pressure fluctuation frequency in electronic unit pump for diesel engine
Tian Bing-qi,Fan Li-yun,Qaisar Hayat,Ma Xiuzhen,Song En-zhe,Hao Wang 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.4
Pressure variations inside a fuel injection system can lead to fluctuations in injected fuel quantity during injections and therefore candirectly impact the stability and performance coherence of the fuel injection system and the engine it matched. Concepts of hydrauliccapacitance and hydraulic inductance are introduced into fuel injection system by referencing LC oscillator electric circuit. A LC undampedhydraulic mathematical model is developed based on the structural parameters of the electronic unit pump (EUP). Pressure fluctuationfrequency during injection process at different operating conditions of the EUP is computed by the LC undamped model. It isobserved that the frequencies of pressure fluctuations tend to increase with the fuel injection process. Pressure curves and pressure fluctuationfrequencies obtained by experiments at different operating conditions validated the results predicted by the LC undampedmathematical model.

The surface of graphene (GE) was modified with a silane coupling agent, and its surface characteristics were investigated. Epoxy resin/GE nanocomposites were prepared via solution blending. The effect of the GE content on the thermal stability, flexural properties, impact strength, and morphology of the nanocomposites was studied. The thermal stability of the epoxy resin increased with the addition of pristine GE and surface-modified GE. The flexural strength, elastic modulus, and impact strength of the nanocomposites with surface-modified GE increased significantly with increasing GE content. Scanning electron microscopy images of the nanocomposites with surface-modified GE show a ductile deformation morphology, which is consistent with their high impact strength.
