Application of adaptive antenna array to IMT-2000 based on W-CDMA
F. Adachi,MamoruSawahashi 에스케이텔레콤 (주) 1999 Telecommunications Review Vol.9 No.2
Wideband wireless access based on DS-CDMA (W-CDMA) is a wireless access technique for the 3rd generation mobile communication systems using 2-GHz carrier bands. There are several promising techniques that significantly enhance the radio link performance or capacity. They are (a) interference reduction techniques (adaptive antenna array and interference cancellation) and (b) required Eb/I0 reduction techniques (channel coding and adaptive transmit power control (TPC)). This paper focuses on the adaptive antenna array and introduces its design concept for application to IMT-2000. For the last decade, many theoretical studies have been conducted on this technique. Now, it is time to implement real hardware to demonstrate their capabilities in real mobile radio propagation channels. A W-CDMA adaptive antenna array diversity transceiver was implemented to evaluate the transmission performance in a multipath fading environment both by laboratory and field experiments. Preliminary experimental results are presented.

This study compared the effects of two levels of crude protein (CP) supplementation during a close-up dry period on the productive performance, nitrogen balance, and blood profiles of Holstein cows. Eighteen cows (8 primigravid and 10 multiparous), 21 days prior to calving, were divided into four groups and fed a diet containing a low (11.5 to 12.7% CP) or high (14.1 to 15.3% CP) level of protein. Following parturition, all cows were offered the same diet. Nitrogen balance was measured 12 d to 10 d prior to the expected calving date. Whole feces and urine were collected. The higher close-up CP did not improve milk production during the early lactation period (14 w) in multiparous cows but tended to increase production by 2 kg of milk per day in primigravid cows. There were no differences in the weight of calves, the weight of the placenta, or the incidence of calving difficulty. Nitrogen intake, urine nitrogen and nitrogen retention were increased by the higher CP diet in primigravid and multiparous cows. All groups of cows showed a positive nitrogen balance. In particular, higher nitrogen retention was observed in primigravid cows fed the higher CP diet. With the exception of plasma urea nitrogen (PUN), non of the blood profiles were influenced by the CP level. The higher close-up CP increased the PUN during the period studied in primigravid and multiparous cows. These results indicate that a CP level of 14% during a close-up dry period is optimal for primigravid cows, and 12% CP level is sufficient for multiparous cows.

The okra leafhopper, Amrasca (Sundapteryx) biguttula (Ishida) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae), is an economically important pest of okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench (Malvaceae), in Japan. During 2019 and 2022 surveys for its egg parasitoids (Hymenoptera) were conducted on Kyushu and Ryukyu islands in southern Japan. Five species of Mymaridae, Anagrus (Anagrus)?atomus (L.), A. (A.) japonicus Sahad, A. (A.) turpanicus Triapitsyn and Hu, Arescon enocki (Subba Rao and Kaur), and Stethynium empoascae Subba Rao, as well as one of Trichog rammatidae, Pseudoligosita nephotetticum (Mani), were recorded from eggs of A. biguttula on okra in Japan. Of these, A. (A.) turpanicus, identified using a combination of molecular and morphological methods, is newly recorded from Japan; A. (A.)?atomus, A. (A.) turpanicus and P. nephotetticum are for the first time reported from eggs of okra leafhopper.
