This study explored the effects of second-level agenda setting through visual framing on portal sites during the 2012 Korean presidential campaign. To examine how the political bias of digital news affected visual images of candidates, two major portal sites, most online newspapers, and diverse visual attributes were adopted. The data sample (n = 625) focused on the photographs of Park Geun- Hye as a conservative candidate and Moon Jae-In as a progressive. The results demonstrated that Park’s photographs were most positively covered in conservative online newspapers in the conservative portal, while Moon’s photographs were most favorably covered in progressive online newspapers in the progressive portal. These results show that portal sites serve as not only news aggregators and providers, but also as online gatekeepers.

The need for developing sustainable manufacturing processes are more and more increasing due to environmental regulations that are introduced worldwide. In the field of manufacturing metallic parts, the dry machining process is the effective way to reduce the costs of production and to avoid harm in environment and human health. Especially, Inconel 718 parts, which is very popular in aerospace, chemical, and nuclear industries, produced with additive manufacturing require a finishing process for quality assurance to rough and porous surfaces after printing process. Generally, machining of difficult-to cut materials such as Inconel 718 need the cutting fluids to improve the surface integrity and tool life. The present work investigates the effect of microstructure life of the Inconel 718 part produced by additive manufacturing on the tool compared with the wrought Inconel 718 part during the dry machining. The experimental findings show that the tool life of the Inconel 718 from AM is increased due to the melt pool microstructure formed by the laser irradiation though the hardness is higher than the wrought Inconel 718. Abrasive wear is strongly affected to tool life of the Inconel 718 from AM while adhesive and fracture wear is mostly found in the tool of wrought Inconel 718.
DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIL DEFENSE CLOTHING FOR THE FIELD ACTIVITIES
Eunju Ko,Jihye Yu,Sanghyun Park,Eunyoung Park,Junghwan Lee,Soyoung Park,Yaewon Park,Kyunghoon Kim,Juil Song,Jungyoon Cho 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07
Recently, there has been an increase in human casualties and property damage caused by large-scale disasters such as massive wildfires, concentrated heavy rainfall, chemical accidents, and infectious diseases. To enhance the citizen protection capabilities of civil defense personnel, it is necessary to ensure their capacity to perform on-site citizen protection duties and guarantee their safety. Particularly, the current civil defense uniforms are vulnerable to fire and waterproofing, and the safety is threatened when civil defense personnel perform field activities such as fire and flood damage. Therefore, there is an urgent need for research and development of civil defense uniforms to ensure functionality and safety. In this study, we aim to understand the duties of domestic civil defense units and the characteristics of on-site situations, analyze overseas civil defense uniform replication cases, and derive safety criteria for civil defense uniforms. Developing civil defense uniforms based on safety and functional criteria is expected to enhance civil defense personnel's capabilities and increase public welfare by deriving optimal performance for each mission.

In the present study, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to determine the effect of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) supplementation (50:50 ratio of cis-9, trans-11 and trans-10, cis-12 isomers) for 8 weeks on body composition and biochemical parameters in healthy overweight/obese (body mass index, BMI≥23 ㎏/㎡) Korean subjects was performed. Thirty participants (3 males and 27 females) were randomized to receive placebo (2.4 g olive oil/day) or 2.4 g/day CLA (mixture containing 36.9% of cis-9, trans-11 and 37.9% of trans-10, cis-12). Eight weeks of CLA supplementation significantly decreased body weight by ?0.75 ㎏, BMI by ?0.27 ㎏/㎡, and hip circumference by -1.11 ㎝. The reduction of body weight was ascribed to the reduction of body fat mass (?0.59 ㎏) and lean body mass (?0.18 ㎏), although these changes were not significant. No significant differences in serum lipid profiles, liver function enzyme activities, and protein concentration were observed in either the CLA or placebo groups. These results indicate that short term supplementation (8 weeks) with CLA (2.4 g/day) may decrease body weight in Korean overweight/obese subjects.

In this study, we investigated the effect of Makgeolli byproduct on the lipid profiles and lipid peroxidation in Sprague-dawley rats with loperamide-induced constipation. Two types of Makgeolli by-products or commercially available fermented grain product was administered orally for two weeks following three days of loperamide treatment(4 mg/kg/d, i.p.). The effects of Makgeolli by-product were compared with those of sodium picosulfate, commonly used as a stimulant laxative. Following the induction of constipation in the rats, a marked increase was observed in the markers of plasma lipid peroxidation(TBARs and conjugated dienes). However, Makgeolli by-product, as well as commercial product and sodium picosulfate, alleviated the lipid peroxidation when compared with the loperamide control group. Also Makgeolli by-product group showed a significant decrease in plasma triglyceride, total cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol and an increase in HDL-cholesterol compared with the loperamide control group. These results indicated that Makgeolli by-product could ameliorate the lipid profiles and lipid peroxidation, along with laxative effect in loperamide-induced constipation.

We evaluated the effect of soybean dongchunghacho [SD, cultivated dongchunghacho fungus (Paecilomyces tenuipes) on soybeans] on dimethylhydrazine (DMH)-induced DNA damage and oxidative stress in male F344 rats. The animals were divided into 3 groups and fed a casein-based high-fat, low fiber diet without (DMH group) or with 13%(w/w) of soybean (DMH+S group), or SD (DMH+SD group). One week after beginning the diets, rats were treated weekly with DMH (30 mg/kg, s.c.) for 6 weeks; dietary treatments were continued for the entire experiment and endpoints measured at 9 weeks after the first DMH injection. SD supplementation reduced DMH-induced DNA damage in colon cells and reduced plasma lipid peroxidation. Thus, SD may have therapeutic potential for early-stage colon carcinogenesis.
