This study tried to investigate whether it is appropriate to define the emotions of elementary school teachers, who avoid teaching science, as science teaching anxiety through exploring elementary school teachers' emotional expressions and related factors. 10 elementary school teachers who were reluctant to teach science participated in the research, and they presented their thoughts and feelings about teaching science through semi-structured interviews. As a result of analyzing the emotional expressions in the interview, 28 expressions of emotions appeared. Emotional expressions were divided into three types according to the degree of inclusion of factors related to anticipation in related situations. These results show that there are some emotional expressions that cannot be interpreted as the science teaching anxiety. Therefore, we propose to consider science teaching avoidance emotion not as science teaching anxiety but as a mixture of various emotions.

In the previous studies on co-constructing scientific models, students have had various difficulties in constructing their models. As an alternative to compensate for these problems, we introduced smart devices in the modeling process and examined its roles. 60 students from two classes in the fifth grade of an elementary school in Seoul had classes to make up the solar system model in a small group using the smart devices and we examined the roles of smart devices in their classes. The result is as follows; First, students were able to generate their scientific model through various functions of smart devices throughout the modeling process. In particular, smart devices provide highly descriptive and authoritative information that meets the needs of students as well as the opportunity to observe the planets from various perspectives. Moreover, they were not only able to express their models easily as they wanted to express them, but also were able to receive feedbacks from various agents. In order for these smart devices to function properly in the co-construction of scientific models, it is necessary to improve the related environment as well as students’ technological literacy.
Detection of RNA Mycoviruses in Wild Strains of Lentinula edodes in Korea

In general, mycoviruses remain latent and rarely cause visible symptoms in fungal hosts; however, some viral infections have demonstrated abnormal mycelial growth and fruiting body development in commercial macrofungi, including Lentinula edodes. Compared to other cultivated mushrooms, L. edodes is more vulnerable to viral infections as it is still widely cultivated under near-natural conditions. In this study, we investigated whether Korean wild strains of L. edodes were infected by RNA mycoviruses that have previously been reported in other parts of the world (LeSV, LePV1, LeV-HKB, LeNSRV1, and LeNSRV2). Using specific primer sets that target the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase genes of each of the RNA mycovirus, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect viral infection. Viral infection was detected in about 90% of the 112 wild strains that were collected in Korea between 1983 and 2020. Moreover, multiple infections with RNA mycoviruses were detected in strains that had normal fruiting bodies. This work contributes to our understanding of the distribution of RNA mycoviruses in Korea and the impact of multiple viral infections in a single strain of L. edodes.
