Mutant lines induced by ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) have been used for crop improvement and functional genomics. Since pepper is very recalcitrant to be transformed, EMS mutagenesis could be an alternative method to generate useful mutant lines and to characterize the function of genes. We have developed mutant lines consisting of about 3,938 M2 mutant lines using Korea local landrace, C. annuum ‘Yuwolcho’. Yuwolcho has suitable traits for mutagenesis such as early flowering and maturation, large number of seeds per fruit, and susceptibility to various diseases. Up to now, 917 M2 mutant lines were evaluated to confirm the effect of EMS. M2 mutant lines have shown variations in plant stature (small size, dwarfism, and early death), leaf development (light color, variegation and morphological change) and flower (inflorescence, morphological change) and fruit (size and color). We observed the largest morphological variation in leaf development. Most of these mutant phenotypes were inherited recessively. In addition, we are applying cel1-based TILLING to identify useful mutant lines. We will apply cel1-based TILLING to identify useful mutant lines. We are expecting that these mutant lines will be very useful to study the function of genes in C. annuum.
주문형 운송서비스의 모바일 애플리케이션 사용성 평가 연구 -카카오택시와 우버를 중심으로-

본 연구는 애플리케이션의 사용성을 평가하여 사용자 경험 개선을 위해 사용자 평가를 실시하고, 국내의 주문형 운송서비스을 개선하기 위한 필요 사항을 제안하는 것에 목적이 있다. 연구방법으로는 1차로 국내외의 사례를 분석하여 현재 운영되고 있는 서비스들의 현황을 파악하고, 2차로 피터 모빌(Peter Morville)의 허니콤 모델(Honey Comb Model)을 재구성하여, 이를 기준으로 설문조사와 심층 인터뷰 진행하였다. 사용성 평가 결과를 분석하여 주문형 운송 서비스의 사용자 경험 개선을 위한제안 사항을 도출하였다. 첫째, 운행 중 현재 위치 및 정보를 실시간으로 확인할 수 있어야 한다. 둘째, 차량과 기사 정보를 확인하기 쉽게 배치하고 현재 운행 중인 차량의 정보 또한 확인할 수 있어야 한다. 셋째, 신용카드 자동결제기능을 추가하여 결제의 편의성과 신뢰성을 높인다.본 연구는 새롭게 등장하는 주문형 운송 서비스 사업의 모바일 애플리케이션 사용성을 평가 및 분석하고, 차후 개선되어야 할 방향을 제안하는 데 의의가있다. This paper proposes the requirements to improve users`` experience in application of the on-demand riding service through user evaluation between ``Uber`` and ``KakaoTaxi``. This research is consists of three parts; First, the case study analyzes and compares the operating service and the market. Second, in-depth interview is performed by reorganization of Honeycomb model by Peter Morville. Third, the improved solution of on-demand riding service is carried out through the analysis of the user evaluation. Conclusion, following service requirements are deducted from this study. First, real-time user location tracking system is essential. Second, information of vehicles and drivers should be easily accessible. Also, users should be able to find and recognize vehicles in service around them. Third, automatic payment system is a key point to improve the payment convenience and credibility. The contribution point of the study is a novel proposal of the requirements of the service through the user evaluation analysis. Also, the solution guides future directions for improvements of the service.

The aim of the study was to optimize harvesting method for concentrating microalgae from microalgae mass culture. It is well known that the mass density of microalgae is usually very low and these are small size (5-20 μm) in the culture medium. It is essential that microalgae is harvested and concentrated economically for economical biodiesel production from microalgae. In this study, to determine optimized conditions for microalgae harvesting by chemical flocculation. Flocculation of three algae, Chlorella ellipsoidea, Dunaliella bardawil, and Dunaliella tertiolecta, was performed using various chemical flocculants, such as inorganic flocculants (aluminium sulfate, aluminium potassium sulfate, ferrous sulfate, ferric sulfate, ferric chloride, calcium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, sodium nitrite, and sodium aluminate), organic flocculant (polyacrylamide), and biopolymer flocculants (chitosan and starch). The results indicated that aluminium based inorganic flocculants is suitable for microalgae harvesting such as Chlorella ellipsoidea, Dunaliella bardawil, and Dunaliella tertiolecta. The results also recommended that flocculant doses, agitation speed, agitation time, sedimentation time for economical microalgae harvesting method using chemical flocculants.

In this study, inorganic flocculant with biodegradable polymer flocculant was usedfor microalgae harvest. The aim of this study was to optimize the concentration of inorganic flocculant, the concentration of biodegradable polymer flocculant and reaction volume for decreasing the amounts of flocculant and obtaining the suitable pH range for seawater by response surface methodology. The flocculation of three marine microalgae, Chlorella ellipsoidea, Dunaliella bardawil, and Dunaliella tertiolecta, using inorganic flocculants and biodegradable polymer flocculants was investigated. The results indicated that the optimal flocculant quantity showed 0.1 g/L of ferric chloride, 7.5 g/L of chitosan on Chlorella ellipsoidea. In the case of Dunaliella bardawil, the optimal flocculant quantity showed amount of ferric sulfate more than 0.12 g/L and chitosan more than 0.75 g/L. In the case of Dunaliella tertiolecta, the optimal flocculant quantity showed 1.0 g/L of sodium aluminate, 0.75 g/L of chitosan.

Hormones play a crucial role in controlling physiological processes, and thus plants grow and develop in response to environmental cues through the interlocked actions of the hormones. Brassinosteroids (BRs) were found as growth-promoting steroid hormones. Rice, as a monocotyledonous model plants and the major staple crop, has been used to study BR action mechanisms. However, many components of BR pathways and the mechanisms of their molecular interactions have yet to be fully understood. Because the use of the BR biosynthetic inhibitor, Brassinazole (Brz), allowed us to identify important components of BR signaling such as the transcription factor BZR1, we decided to employ a similar strategy to identify novel signaling factors using propiconazole (Pcz), a new potent BR inhibitor. We screened a rice T-DNA mutant population which belongs to Dongjin variety and were developed by the Gene An’s group using pGA2715 T-DNA vector. Using Pcz treatments we searched for resistant plants, which were reflected on their lengths of roots and/or leaves. We isolated a total of 17 mutant lines, which are being analyzed phenotypically and at molecular level. So far, we have been able to found various lines presenting high or low yield compared to their wild type counterparts. We have found differences in panicle organization of these mutants. Our current experiments include the confirmation of Pcz resistance of these lines and molecular studies involving BR marker genes to understand the relation among yield and BR action in rice.
