Boundary layer effect of light transmission through ionic liquid under electric field

        Zhou Ji,Zheng Yi,Dong Shikui,He Zhihong,Liu Bao,Zhang Yanhu 한국물리학회 2023 Current Applied Physics Vol.52 No.-

The field strength distribution in the ionic liquid boundary layer under the action of an external electric field is non-uniform. Whether its transmittance (absorption coefficient) spatially varies arouses our interest in exploring the underlying laws. In this paper, with the help of an infrared microscope, a special experimental device was designed and established. The transmittance in the ionic liquid (methyl propyl imidazole iodide, C3MImI) at different distances from the electrodes (cathode, anode) was measured under electric voltages from 0 V to 0.5 V. Results showed that transmittances of ionic liquid at the boundary layer present nonlinear change with the nonlinear electronic strength under the different applied voltage, and there is a critical threshold (0.2 V) distinguishes the sensitive and non-sensitive responses to the electric field. Our study provides a physical basis for microscale electro-optic regulation and is significant, especially for precise regulation of light field transmittance in micro-nano channels/structures.

The detection efficiency study of NaI(Tl) scintillation detector with the different numbers of SiPMs

        Wang Bao,Zhang Xiongjie,Wang Qingshan,Wang Dongyang,Li Dong,Xiahou Mingdong,Zhou Pengfei,Ye Hao,Hu Bin,Zhang Lijiao 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.7

SiPMs are generally coupled into whole columns in gamma energy spectrum measurement, but the relationship between the distribution of whole SiPM columns and the energy resolution of the measured energy spectra is rarely reported. In this work, ∅ 3 3 inch NaI scintillator is placed on an 8 8 SiPM array, and the energy resolution of the 137Cs peak at 662 keV corresponding to the g-ray is selected as a reference. Each SiPM is switched to explore the influence of the number of SiPM arrays, distribution position, and reflective layer on the energy resolution of SiPMs. Results show that without coupling, the energy resolution is greatly improved when the number of SiPMs ranges from 4 to 32. However, after 32 slices (the area covered by SiPMs relative to the scintillator reaches 25.9%), the improvement in energy resolution and total pulse count is not obvious. In addition, the position of SiPMs relative to the scintillator does not exert much impact on the energy resolution. Results also indicate that by adding a reflective film (ESR), the energy resolution of the tested group increases by 10.38% on average. This work can provide a reference for the design and application of miniaturized SiPM gamma spectrometers

A tandem-repeat galectin from blood clam Tegillarca granosa and its induced mRNA expression response against bacterial challenge

        Yongbo Bao,Haoping Shen,Huashan Zhou,Yinghui Dong,Zhihua Lin 한국유전학회 2013 Genes & Genomics Vol.35 No.6

Galectins are a family of b-galactoside-binding lectins which play crucial roles in innate immunity of vertebrates and invertebrates. In the present study, we have cloned and characterized the first galectin to be identified in Tegillarca granosa (designated Tg-GAL). The fulllength cDNA of Tg-GAL was of 2,394 bp nucleotides, encoding a polypeptide of 354 amino acids. The amino acid sequence of T. granosa galectin (Tg-GAL) showed striking sequence similarity to invertebrate and vertebrate galectins in carbohydrate recognition domains (CRD) and contained amino acids that are crucial for binding bgalactoside sugars. Structurally, the Tg-GAL was a tandem repeat galectin containing two CRD connected by a unique peptide link. Quantitative real-time PCR was employed to investigate the tissue distribution of Tg-GAL mRNA and temporal expression in haemocytes of clams challenged with Vibrio parahaemolyticus, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)and peptidogylcan (PGN). The Tg-GAL mRAN expression was concentrated in hepatopancreas and mantle. The upregulation of Tg-GAL after bacteria V. parahaemolyticus,LPS and PGN challenge showed that Tg-GAL might play a pivotal role in anti-bacterial immunity. Further study should investigate the effects of Tg-GAL absence by siRNA knockout.

      • Lack of Association of Glutathione S-transferase M3 Gene Polymorphism with the Susceptibility of Lung Cancer

        Feng, Xu,Dong, Chun-Qiang,Shi, Jun-Jie,Zhou, Hua-Fu,He, Wei,Zheng, Bao-Shi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9

Objective: The conclusions of published reports on the relationship between the glutathione S-transferase M3 (GSTM3) A/B gene polymorphism and the risk of lung cancer are still debated. This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the association between GSTM3 and the risk of lung cancer. Methods: Association investigations were identified from PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library, and eligible studies were included and synthesized using a meta-analysis method. Results: Eight reports were included into this meta-analysis for the association of GSTM3 A/B gene polymorphism and lung cancer susceptibility, covering 1,854 patients with lung cancer and 1,926 controls. No association between the GSTM3 A/B gene polymorphism and lung cancer was found in this meta-analysis (B allele: OR = 1.25, 95% CI: 0.89-1.76, P = 0.20; BB genotype: OR = 1.53, 95% CI: 0.71-3.32, P = 0.28; AA genotype: OR = 0.85, 95% CI: 0.59-1.23, P = 0.39). Conclusions: The GSTM3 A/B gene polymorphism is not associated with lung cancer susceptibility. However, more studies on the relationship between GSTM3 A/B gene polymorphism and the risk of lung cancer should be performed in the future.

Fluctuating wind and wave simulations and its application in structural analysis of a semi-submersible offshore platform

Ma, Jin,Zhou, Dai,Han, Zhaolong,Zhang, Kai,Bao, Yan,Dong, Li The Society of Naval Architects of Korea 2019 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.11 No.1

A semi-submersible offshore platform always operates under complex weather conditions, especially wind and waves. It is vital to analyze the structural dynamic responses of the platform in short-term sea states under the combined wind and wave loads, which touches upon three following work. Firstly, a derived relationship between wind and waves reveals a correlation of wind velocity and significant wave height. Then, an Improved Mixture Simulation (IMS) method is proposed to simulate the time series of wind/waves accurately and efficiently. Thus, a wind-wave scatter diagram is expanded from the traditional wave scatter diagram. Finally, the time series of wind/wave pressures on the platform in the short-term sea states are converted by Workbench-AQWA. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed numerical methods are validated to be applicable for wind and wave simulations in structural analyses. The structural dynamic responses of the platform members increase with the wind and wave strength. In the up-wind and wave state, the stresses on the deck, the connections between deck and columns, and the connection between columns and pontoons are relatively larger under the vertical bending moment. These numerical methods and results are wished to provide some references for structural design and health monitoring of several offshore platforms.

A guided bone regeneration membrane composed of hydroxyapatite and polyurethane

        Zhi-Hong Dong,Li Zhang,Gang Zhou,이수완,Yu-Bao Li 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2008 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.9 No.5

A hydroxyapatite (HA,10 wt%) and polyurethane (PU) composite as a guided bone regeneration (GBR)membrane was obtained from the polycondensation or polyaddition of diisocyanates and hydroxyl groups by a solvent evaporation method. The structure and properties of the membrane were investigated by XRD, IR, SEM, water absorption, wettability and a cell culture test in vitro. The results show that hydroxyapatite particles were dispersed uniformly in the polyurethane matrix and interfacial bonding between hydroxyapatite and polyurethane was formed. The hydroxyapatite/polyurethane membrane has good hydrophilicity and the surface pores can promote cell adhesion and growth. MTT (3-{4,5-dimethylthiazol-2yl}-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) assay and light microscopy observation indicate that the hydroxyapatite/polyurethane membrane demonstrates excellent biocompatibility. The hydroxyapatite/polyurethane membrane will hopefully be selected as a guided bone regeneration and tissue engineering.

An Improved Variable Step Size MPPT Algorithm Based on INC

        Zhi-rong Xu,Ping Yang,Dong-bao Zhou,Peng Li,Jin-yong Lei,Yuan-rui Chen 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.2

In order to ensure that photovoltaic (PV) systems work at the maximum power point (MPP) and maximize the economic benefits, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques are normally applied to these systems. One of the most widely applied MPPT methods is the incremental conductance (INC) method. However, the choice of the step size still remains controversial. This paper presents an improved variable step size INC MPPT algorithm that uses four different step sizes. This method has the advantages of INC but with the ability to validly adjust the step size to adapt to changes of the PV’s power curve. The presented algorithm also simultaneously achieves increased rapidity and accuracy when compared with the conventional fixed step size INC MPPT algorithm. In addition, the theoretical derivation and specific applications of the proposed algorithm are presented here. This method is validated by simulation and experimental results.
