        Composite action can be achieved by providing shear connectors between steel top flange and concrete topping. Composite sections have larger stiffness than the summation of the individual stiffness of slab and beam, therefore, can carry larger load or similar loads with appreciably smaller deflection and are less prone to transient vibration. T-type Steel Composite beam(TSC-beam) is developed and tested. To make the part of steel beam, we used the way of welding two steel plates as well as the way of folding one steel plate.

        The Eryshrocyte Sedimentation Rate on the students of Seoul National Uuiversity was discussed corelating with X-ray findings for tuberculosis mass suruey. 1) Among the students of Seoul National University, 4727 were examined by miniature radiogram and the morbidity of active tuberculosis was shown 1.7 percent 616 of students were examined by both miniature radiogram and blood sedimentation reaction and the morbidity was 2.9 per cent. 2) The screening procedure by blood sedimentation reaction in addition to miniature radiogram could prevent missing around one fourth of active cases This means that E.S.R. has a great significance on the screening procedure for tuberculosis case findings. 3) Abnormal E.S.R. was shown on 75,5 percent of active cases. Persons whose E.S.R. are beyond 3mm for 30minutes and 10mm for 60minutes are suspected tuberculosis and should be required further examination. 4) The distribution rate of E.S.R. of between 0∼6.5mm was shown on 80percent of these students who were examined and that of between 0∼10mm was shown on 88.7 percent of students. The mean was 4.8mm. Hereby it is recommended That E.S.R. must be employed as one part of the useful methods on the mass screening survey for tuberculosis. furthermore it should be recalled that most of the Korean youths show tuberculin test positive. This fact requires such procedure as blood sedimentation reaction in addition to X-ray photography urgently on the epidemiological tuberculosis survey.

Therefore, food coordinator is the exact meaning by this monograph and it is an opportunity for concerned and understanded many people.

        레이저 스페클간섭법에 있어서 스페클크기와 측정 한계에 관한 연구

        The high coherence of laser beam has made it possible to observe interference effects even in the light scattered from rough surfaces. That's why, when object with a scattering surface is illuminated with laser light, we do see a speckled appearance due to random interference. This sort of unique property of laser speckle has brought into existence the new noncontacting techniques such as speckle metrology method of measuring deformation, displacement, and vibration etc of objects with high optical sensitivity. The measurable range of speckle metrology especially used to measure in-plane information, however, is limited by some factors, the so-called strain, rotation, tilt of surface and out of displacement perpendicular to the plane of analysis. This restrictions severly limits the measurable range of speckle metrology by causing the decorrelation of speckle patterns. It is the purpose of this paper to give a survey on the measurable limitation of speckle photography method that is one of speckle metrology. Namely we will discuss the mutual relationships and problems of each limitations adding the restriction of the largest and smallest displacement measurable with speckle methods.

      • 모드스펙트럼 및 시간이력 해석법에 의한 교량의 동적 거동에 관한 연구

        본 연구에서는 도로교량에 대한 효율적인 내진설계가 이루어지도록 하기 위해서, 다중모드 및 시간이력해석법을 통합하여, 교량의 진동 응답 및 특성을 파악할 수 있는 3차원 동적해석 프로그램을 작성하였으며, 후처리 프로그램을 사용함으로써 동적해석 프로그램에 의한 결과를 곧바로 내진설계에 반영할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 교량의 형식, 규모, 지지조건 등의 변화에 따른 동적해석 결과로부터 적절하고 효율적인 내진설계의 기준을 제시하였다. 따라서, 본 해석 프로그램을 사용함으로써, 다중모드 스펙트럼 해석법에 의한 해석결과를 사용한 교각의 설계, 단일모드 스펙트럼 해석법에 의한 설계결과의 검토 및 시간이력 해석법에 의한 검토가 이루어 질 수 있다. For the sake of efficient seismic design of bridges, this study developed three-dimensional dynamic analysis program including multimode spectral analysis and time history analysis in order to predict the characteristics of seismic vibration and intended to made it user-friendly procedure of design by the post-processor. Using this program together with the post processor, the designer can easily and readily obtain the responses, in other words, moments, base shears, mode shapes and displacements, and their time history responses of bridges necessary to design purpose. And from the analysis results according to the variations of type, scale, and restraint or support conditions of bridges including sectional properties, applications of the effective and desirable seismic design are presented. Therefore, the design of pier using result from the multi mode spectral analysis, verifications of result by the single model spectral analysis and by the time history analysis can be successfully made.

      • Flexible Memristive Devices Based on InP/ZnSe/ZnS Core-Multishell Quantum Dot Nanocomposites

        <P>The effects of the ZnS shell layer on the memory performances of flexible memristive devices based on quantum dots (QDs) with an InP/ZnSe/ZnS core-multishell structure embedded in a poly(methylmethacrylate) layer were investigated. The on/off ratios of the devices based on QDs with an InP/ZnSe core-shell structure and with an InP/ZnSe/ZnS core-multishell structure were approximately 4.2 × 10<SUP>2</SUP> and 8.5 × 10<SUP>3</SUP>, respectively, indicative of enhanced charge storage capability in the latter. After bending, the memory characteristics of the memristive devices based on QDs with the InP/ZnSe/ZnS structure were similar to those before bending. In addition, those devices maintained the same on/off ratios for retention time of 1 × 10<SUP>4</SUP> s, and the number of endurance cycles was above 1 × 10<SUP>2</SUP>. The reset voltages ranged from −2.3 to −3.1 V, and the set voltages ranged from 1.3 to 2.1 V, indicative of reliable electrical characteristics. Furthermore, the possible operating mechanisms of the devices are presented on the basis of the electron trapping and release mode.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        Productivity and energy partition of late lactation dairy cows during heat exposure

        <P>ABSTRACT</P><P>Three late-lactation Holstein cows were used to determine the effects of environmental temperature on performance and energy partitioning. Each cow was housed in a respiratory chamber for 30 consecutive days and exposed to three different conditions of environmental temperature: (i) 20°C and 20°C (20°C), (ii) 25°C and 20°C (25°C), (iii) 30°C and 25°C (30°C) during the day and night, respectively. The temperature was switched in an interval of 10 days. Humidity in the chamber was maintained at 55–65% through the entire experimental period. The daily mean as well as morning and evening rectal temperatures of Holstein cows increased linearly (<I>P</I> < 0.05) as chamber temperature increased. There was a significant linear reduction in dry matter (DM) intake (<I>P</I> < 0.05) and an increase in DM digestibility (<I>P</I> < 0.05). The response in milk yield, however, was not affected by heat stress. There were no significant differences among treatments for intake energy, heat production, net energy for lactation and net energy for gain. This results of this study disagreed with the assumption that late lactation cows gave priority to increasing body tissue at the expense of milk production under thermal stress.</P>

        Nectandrin A Enhances the BMP-Induced Osteoblastic Differentiation and Mineralization by Activation of p38 MAPK-Smad Signaling Pathway

        Osteoblastic activity of nectandrin A was examined in C2C12 cells. Nectandrin A enhances the BMP-induced osteoblastic differentiation and mineralization, manifested by the up-regulation of differentiation markers (alkaline phosphatase and osteogenic genes) and increased calcium contents. In C2C12 cells co-transfected with expression vector encoding Smad4 and Id1-Luc reporter, nectandrin A increased Id1 luciferase activity in a concentration-dependent manner, when compared to that in BMP-2 treated cells, indicating that Smad signaling pathway is associated with nectandrin A-enhanced osteoblastic differentiation in C2C12 cells. In addition, nectandrin A activated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) in time- and concentration-dependent manners, and phosphorylated form of pSmad1/5/8 and alkaline phosphatase activity were both decreased when the cells were pretreated with SB203580, a p38 MAPK inhibitor, suggesting that p38 MAPK might be an upstream kinase for Smad signaling pathway. Taken together, nectandrin A enhances the BMP-induced osteoblastic differentiation and mineralization of C2C12 cells via activation of p38 MAPK-Smad signaling pathway, and it has a therapeutic potential for osteoporosis by promoting bone formation.

      • Residual stress control of Cu film deposited using a pulsed direct current magnetron sputtering

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Residual stress of 10 μm thick copper (Cu) film deposited using direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering system was analyzed for various pulsed DC power conditions. It is found that the increase of pulse frequency at a fixed duty ratio of 80% from continuous wave (CW) to 100 kHz while maintaining the time average power significantly decreased the residual stress of Cu film from 21.75 MPa to 1.8 MPa. The decrease of pulse duty ratio further decreased the residual stress by showing 0.7 MPa at 60% of duty ratio and 50 kHz pulse frequency. Therefore, compared to CW power, Cu film with ~1/30 lower residual stress could be deposited by using DC pulse power. The decrease of residual stress by pulsing and by decreasing the pulse duty ratio while keeping the same time average power was related to the denser film density and smaller grain size of deposited Cu film caused by increased instant sputter power during the pulsing.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Residual stress of Cu film using sputter was analyzed for various pulsed power conditions. </LI> <LI> The pulse frequency and pulse duty ratio affect the residual stress of the Cu film. </LI> <LI> The higher instantaneous flux and ion energy lead to less tensile/more compressive stress. </LI> <LI> The residual stress is related to the grain size and film density of the Cu film. </LI> <LI> It is caused by the increased nucleation and increased ion bombardment on the substrate. </LI> </UL> </P>
