Treatment of Hepatic Fibrosis by Using Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell-derived Exosomes
Dat Bui Van,Yuce Li,박재형 한국고분자학회 2021 한국고분자학회 학술대회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.46 No.1
Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy has emerged as a potential treatment for chronic diseases due to its regenerative ability. However, it has significant limitations such as cell’s movement, changing into inappropriate cell types, or growth of tumors. In order to overcome these risks, a revolutionary cell-free therapy was developed to treat the chronic disease, particularly hepatic fibrosis, by using human adipose stem cell-derived exosomes (hADSC-exos). The hADSC-exos were isolated from conditioned media of ADSCs using tangential flow filtration (TFF) method, then were suspended in PBS and stored at –80 °C. After intravenous injected into the liver-fibrotic mice, hADSC-exos preferred to maintain inside the livers, especially in damaged liver tissue, notably suppressed fibro genic markers and finally restored hepatic functions. In conclusion, exosomes derived from hADSC have a dramatic potential to treat chronic hepatic fibrosis.
Diselenide-decorated Liposomes for Intracellular Delivery of a Vitamin C Derivative in Cancer Cells
Dat Bui Van,박재형 한국고분자학회 2021 한국고분자학회 학술대회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.46 No.2
Vitamin C, has emerged as an alternative to conventional chemotherapy for treating cancers because of its oxidative stress promotion. However, vitamin C should be delivered to cells in its oxidized form, dehydroascorbate (DHA) due to its cytotoxicity. By incorporating diselenide-based amphiphilic lipids into the liposomal membrane, Glutathione (GSH)-responsive nanoparticles (G-NPs) have been prepared as potential carriers of DHA. DHA was wrapped into NPs using the dehydrationrehydration method to make DHA-loaded G-NPs which induced much higher GSH depletion in HT29 colon cancer cells than DHA-loaded controls. Particularly, DHA-contained G-NPs sharply increased the intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species, implying enhanced oxidative stress by stimuli-responsive DHA release. As a result, DHA-contained G-NPs exhibited significant cytotoxicity against HT29 cells. Overall, G-NPs might serve as emerged deliver for intracellular delivery of DHA during cancer treatment.

Phytochemical investigation of Kandelia candel resulted in the isolation of six triterpenes (1 - 5) and two glyceryl glycosides (6 and 7) and their structures were determined by comparing the spectroscopic data with those of reported values. In present study, we described the inhibitory effects of fractions and isolated compounds from K. candel on pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-12 p40, IL-6, and TNF-a) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs). Results indicated that compounds 3, 6, and 7 showed potent inhibition on IL-6 production (IC50 values at less than 0.5 mM, respectively). Meanwhile, compounds 6 and 7 exhibited strong inhibitory effects on the production of TNF-a (IC50 values of 1.7 ? 0.1 and 5.5 ? 0.2 mM). Compounds 1 and 3 were also showed the inhibitory effects on IL-12 p40 production (IC50 values of 8.9 ? 0.4 and 3.3 ? 0.1 mM, respectively).

Vitamin C, which promotes oxidative stress, has emerged as an alternative to conventional chemotherapy for treating cancers. However, owing to its cytotoxicity, vitamin C should be delivered to cells in its oxidized form, dehydroascorbate (DHA). Glutathione (GSH)-responsive nanoparticles (G-NPs) have been prepared as potential carriers of DHA by incorporating diselenide-based amphiphilic lipids into the liposomal membrane. Bare liposomes without diselenide-based lipids were prepared as control NPs; these exhibited particle sizes and surface charges comparable to those of G-NPs. DHA was physically encapsulated in NPs using the dehydrationrehydration method. DHA-loaded G-NPs induced much higher GSH depletion in HT29 colon cancer cells than DHA-loaded controls. Interestingly, DHA-loaded G-NPs significantly increased the intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species, implying enhanced oxidative stress by stimuli-responsive DHA release. Consequently, DHA-loaded G-NPs exhibited significant cytotoxicity against HT29 colon cancer cells. Overall, G-NPs might serve as potential carriers for intracellular delivery of DHA during cancer treatment.
Factors Influencing the Decision of Vietnamese Students to Study English in the Philippines
Van Dat TRAN,Vu Linh Chi BUI 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11
This paper aims to develop a conceptual framework for evaluating the impact of factors influencing the decision of Vietnamese students to study English in the Philippines. The empirical analysis used data from the survey data of 318 respondents living in Vietnam. Comprehensive, valid, and reliable tools (SPSS 26 software) are used to analyze and verify the gathered data, and the hypotheses developed. The results identified the factors that affect the decision of Vietnamese students to study English in the Philippines include knowledge and awareness, personality recommendation, cost issues, environment, geographic proximity, and social link. Based on the overall findings of this study, several implications are presented for educational practices in academies and schools about English teaching in the Philippines. To increase the ability to get students to study English in the country, it is important that schools or academies must understand the demands of students regarding the academic environment, and in particular, to know what factors determine the decision from the customers’ point of view. This study contributes significantly to the understanding of agencies and educational managers about the student’s choice behavior in the context of the need to improve foreign languages and, thus, help improve the competitiveness of agencies and English schools.

This study explores the adsorption of doxycycline (DOX) from aqueous solutions onto biochar derived from banana peel, which was prepared using a potassium hydroxide activation method (KOH-BPB). The biochar properties were characterized based on morphology, surface area (SBET of 710.241 ㎡ g−1), functional groups, and surface charge (pHPZC = 7.7). Parameters, including initial pH, DOX concentration, and ionic strength, that influenced the DOX adsorption capacity of KOH-BPB were examined. Adsorption equilibrium of DOX on KOH-BPB was assessed through four isothermal models: the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich models. The obtained data were most compatible with the Langmuir model (R² = 0.9879). KOH-BPB has a maximum DOX absorption capacity of 121.95 mg g-1 which exceeds that of many comparable absorbents. The maximum DOX removal was 96.7% at pH 6, a DOX concentration of 20 mg L-1, and a KOH-BPB dose of 1.0g L-1. These findings reveal that biochar from banana peel effectively removes antibiotic residues from water. This study provides a potential, low-cost, and environmentally friendly adsorbent.

This study develops a mediating model to explore the relationships between organizational characteristics, manager's knowledge, management commitment, user involvement, information quality, and management information system effectiveness in small- and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam. Adapting scales from previous research, the authors designed questionnaires, which they distributed to respondents in Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises. Also, by employing a meta-analytic path analysis throughout structural equation modelling (SEM) with sample of 356 respondents, authors indicate that organizational characteristics are directly related to management information systems effectiveness. Moreover, manager's knowledge, user involvement, and information quality show their important roles in the increase of management information system effectiveness, yet management commitment does not indicate a similar role in the growth of management information system effectiveness. Bootstrapping is utilized to discover the meditating role of information quality, illustrating that quality information mediates the linkages between user involvement, organizational characteristics, and management information systems. However, the mediating role of information quality in the relationship between management commitment, manager's knowledge, and management information systems is not significant. This study contributes to the management information system literature as well as to enhance MIS effects in small and medium-sized enterprises.
