Diagnosis of Articular Disc Perforation: A Case Series

Perforation of articular disc of temporomandibular joint is a unusual condition and diagnosed through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), arthrography or arthroscopic surgery. We attempted to investigate the suspicious findings of articular disc perforation through examination commonly used in temporomandibular disorder (TMD) patients. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imaging findings of five TMD patients whose articular discs were perforated based on MRI. The most meaningful finding was the abnormal width of the joint space in cone-beam computed tomography. Thus, the clinician should perform a thorough assessment of the joint space in TMD patients and conduct additional investigation to determine what caused the abnormal joint space.
Myofascial Orofacial Pain Exacerbated after Masseteric Nerve Neurectomy

Myofascial pain (MFP) is one of the most common causes of persistent orofacial pain. Patients with chronic myofascial orofacial pain may present with diffuse heterotopic pain, complicating the correct diagnosis. Treatment of chronic MFP should focus on the elimination of aetiologic factors. This article describes two cases of chronic MFP of the masticatory muscles, whose symptoms were exacerbated after masseteric nerve neurectomy. The patients had suffered from irrelevant treatment which did not resolve the symptom. Their symptom was managed by conventional treatment protocol. These cases emphasize the importance of correct diagnosis and evidence-based approach.

이 연구의 목적은 청소년 가출에 영향을 미치는 요인을 경험적으로 검증하는 것이다. 특히 범죄이론 중 사회유대이론, 일반긴장이론, 사회학습이론의 상대적 영향력의 차이를 살펴보고, 한국 청소년 가출을 가장 잘 설명할 수 있는 이론을 탐색한다. 청소년 가출은 발생 빈도가 낮아 `가출경험 없음`이 과도한 분포를 띈다. 이로 인해 발생하는 과대산포의 문제를 적절하게 다룰 수 있는 영과잉 포아송 회귀분석(Zero-Inflated Poisson Regression, ZIP)을 활용하였다. 분석 자료는 한국청소년패널조사(KYPS)의 초4 패널의 6차 조사 횡단면 데이터이다. 분석결과 단일 이론으로는 사회유대이론의 설명력이 가장 높게 나타났고, 다음으로 사회학습이론과 일반긴장이론 순으로 나타났다. 통합모형에서는 일반긴장이론의 긍정자극소멸이 청소년 가출을 설명함에 있어 가장 강력한 변수로 나타났고, 이는 청소년의 가정이 한 부모 가정일 경우 청소년 가출횟수가 증가함을 의미한다. 가정·부모와 관련된 대부분의 변수들이 통계적으로 유의미한 값을 갖는 것으로 보아, 기존 가출예방 교육·관리·치안 프로그램이 가정으로 확대되어야 할 것이다. 또한 가출청소년에 대한 사회 안전망 구축에도 더욱 힘써야 한다. 이 연구는 기존 청소년의 지위비행으로 분류해 설명하던 가출을 하나의 종속변수로 보고, 가출빈도 분포의 속성을 고려하였다는 점에서 의미를 지닌다. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relative influences of juvenile runaway using three criminological theories -Social Bonding Theory, General Strain Theory, and Social Bonding Theory-. Using 1,969 samples of middle school students taken from National Youth Policy Institute in 2015. Zero-inflated Poisson regression analyse indicates that social bonding theory is strongly supported as an explanation for adolescents` runaway, while variables from social learning theory and general strain theory were not comparatively supported. When social bonding theory variables are excluded from the full equation model, the change in R<sup>2</sup> is rapidly down. Also, in the full model, `removal of positively valued stimuli` variable of general strain theory is the most powerful variable, which means that the number of juvenile runaway increases when a family is a single-parent. Most of the variables related to family and parents are statistically significant, indicating that the household prevention education, management program should be expanded into the family. In addition, it should strive to establish social safety net for runaway youth.
인천 바이오 클러스터의 기업 유인(attraction) 및 유지(retention)에 관한 영향요인 분석 -기업 내부적 특성요인의 조절효과를 중심으로-

지식기반 경제로 산업구조가 변화함에 따라 첨단기술 산업에 대한 관심이 전 세계적으로 고조되고 있다. 특히 우리나라의 경우 바이오산업의 높은 시장 잠재력에 주목하고, 중앙정부와 지방정부 차원에서 바이오산업의 활성화를 위해 노력하고 있다. 그럼에도 클러스터의 입지경쟁력과 개별 기업의 입지요인 간의 영향관계를 분석한 연구가 크게 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 인천 바이오 클러스터 입지기업을 대상으로 주요 입지 요인이 기업의 입지평가에 미치는 영향과 이러한 영향관계에 대한 기업 특성의 조절 효과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 바이오 기업의 유지(retention)와 유인(attraction)에 대한 외부 환경요인은 상이한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 기업이 성장함에 따라 중요하게 인식하는 외부 환경 요인 또한 달라지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 바이오 클러스터 활성화 정책을 수립함에 있어 변화되는 기업의 입지 선호 요인을 파악할 필요가 있다는 것을 함의한다. The determinants of bio-firms' location choice, like firms in the high-technology sector, often include both a firm’s structural attributes and local conditions. However, it is not clear which kinds of attributes are most influential for firm attraction and retention in the biotechnology cluster. This study draws the survey data from 104 bio-tech firms in Incheon city, to examine the relative importance of various factors and conditions in the locational satisfaction and industrial agglomeration potential, focusing on the moderating effects of the firm’s internal attributes. As results, the firm’s preferences for local conditions differs depending on firm's age and size; that is, the firm’s internal attributes moderate the locational satisfaction and industrial agglomeration potential. This article provides evidence for several benefits derived from understanding the evolved preferences of bio-firms in terms of locational competitiveness.

<P>Using a stabilizing agent-assisted co-assembly method, a novel nanocomposite of mesoporous carbon embedded with uniform tungsten oxide nanorods is obtained, which is converted into carbon-sheathed tungsten oxide nanoparticles by delicate calcination and further reduction. Through optimization of tungsten content, it is found that highly crystalline tungsten oxide nanoparticles are uniformly coated with an ultra-thin carbon layer. When applied into electrochemical charge-storage electrodes for supercapacitor and lithium-ion battery, an excellent average capacitance (129 F g(-1), above 400 F cm(-3)), higher rate performance and significantly advanced cycle stability are observed. These improved charge storage properties are attributed to improved electrical conductivity and enhanced structural stability, which is induced by uniform carbon coating on partially reduced tungsten oxide nanoparticles.</P>

Brugada syndrome is an arrhythmic syndrome characterized by right bundle branch block, ST segment elevation in the precordial lead (V1–V3), and sudden death caused by ventricular fibrillation, which is not effectively prevented by anti-arrhythmic drug therapy. We are reporting a 30-year-old male patient with Brugada syndrome who got an exploratory laparotomy and a tenorrhaphy due to stab wound which was managed with general anesthesia and brachial plexus block without any complications.

This paper describes a community effort to improve earlier versions of the full-text corpus of Genomics & Informatics by semi-automatically detecting and correcting PDF-to-text conversion errors and optical character recognition errors during the first hackathon of Genomics & Informatics Annotation Hackathon (GIAH) event. Extracting text from multi-column biomedical documents such as Genomics & Informatics is known to be notoriously difficult. The hackathon was piloted as part of a coding competition of the ELTEC College of Engineering at Ewha Womans University in order to enable researchers and students to create or annotate their own versions of the Genomics & Informatics corpus, to gain and create knowledge about corpus linguistics, and simultaneously to acquire tangible and transferable skills. The proposed projects during the hackathon harness an internal database containing different versions of the corpus and annotations.
