Design of a Fuzzy Logic-based Plant Quality Estimation System base on Morphological Features
( Chung-liang Chang ),( Wei-lun Fu ),( Jun-yong Tian ) 한국농업기계학회 2018 한국농업기계학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.23 No.1
Automatic growth monitoring of plants technique is crucial for the development of biodiversity and innovative agriculture. Traditional manual recording mode is more complicated and time-consuming, which requires professional skills and expertise background, which is comparatively difficult for non-expert users. In this paper, the fuzzy logic inference method is adopted to estimate the growth quality of plant based on leaf area, leaf number, and the contour area of plant. The image processing technique is employed to conduct plant morphological measurement, including hue of transformation, edge detection, and color histogram. The proposed system has been tested and evaluated successfully in a plant growth chamber. The results show that the estimation error of proposed system is in the range of acceptance for plant quality modeling.
Effect of Array Configurations on the Performance of GNSS Interference Suppression
Chung-Liang Chang,Jyh-Ching Juang 대한전기학회 2008 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.6 No.6
This paper analyzes, through simulations, GNSS interference mitigation performance against wideband and narrowband interferences by using spatial-temporal adaptive processing (STAP). The mathematical analysis results demonstrate that the array configuration has a considerable effect on the spatial-temporal correlation function. Based on the results, different array configurations are presented to evaluate and observe the effect on interference mitigation. The analysis results are further assessed through simulations.

This paper utilizes a novel evolutionary approach to proceed with signal acquisition in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The method controls search space bound of frequency shift and code delay to shorten signal acquisition time. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can acquire more accurate signal parameters and take less signal acquisition time than the traditional method.

Purpose: Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) has a poor prognosis. Abiraterone acetate (AA), enzalutamide, and chemotherapy are first-line treatments for patients with mCRPC. This study examined prognostic factors for AA response in the form of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) kinetics throughout androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) in chemonaïve patients with mCRPC. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively included data from 34 chemonaïve patients with mCRPC who had received AA at some point between January 2017 and December 2018. We separated patients into two study arms according to the decrease in PSA percentages after use of AA for 3 months. We correlated PSA kinetics parameters with response and compared the two study groups with respect to PSA kinetics. Results: The patients’ median age was 77 years. In the total group of patients, 64% had a response to AA, whereas 35% did not. The ratio of the PSA level at nadir to the level during ADT was significantly higher in the AA-sensitive group (19.78 vs. 1.03, p=0.019). Conclusions: Patients who experienced a dramatic change in PSA level during ADT were more likely to be resistant to AA after progression to mCRPC. Chemotherapy rather than AA might be more suitable as a first-line treatment for these patients.

Manganese oxides (MnOx) were prepared by spray pyrolysis methods (MnS) and calcination at 600 and 1,000℃ (Mn600 and Mn1000) in this study. Further, the efficiencies of oxidizing isopropanol (IPA) by these MnOx utilizing ozone (OZCO) and thermal catalytic oxidation (TCO) were compared. The results indicated that MnS, which are characterized by larger surface areas, processed gas hourly space velocity of 42,000 h−1 and inlet IPA concentration of 400 ppm performing IPA decomposition efficiencies approaching 100%, and the reaction temperature was operated at only 85℃ for OZCO. The reaction temperature of TCO operated above 270℃ decomposed IPA at the same efficiency.
A Characteristic Analysis of Vehicle’s Lateral Dynamics
Wen-Ching Chung,Der-Cherng Liaw,Kuo-Liang Chang,Chiz-Chung Cheng 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
In this paper, characteristic analysis of vehicle’s lateral dynamics is proposed to understand the nonlinear behavior of vehicle system. It was observed in Liaw and Chung (2006) that, with the variation of the front wheel steering angle, the vehicle dynamics would exhibit the saddle-node bifurcation. That might result in spin motion and/or system instability. To find out the key factors for causing the instability of vehicle system, the driving speed, the vehicle’s mass and the location of the center of gravity were treated as system variables for analytical study. Numerical simulations for an example model demonstrate the main results of the theoretical analysis.

Objectives: Hypoglycemia induced by electroacupuncture (EA) is due to an increase of insulin secretion and/or mediation of β-endorphin. We applied EA at the Zusanli (ST.36) acupuncture point (acupoint) in combination with rosiglitazone (TZD) administration to evaluate their effect on plasma glucose and to explore possible mechanisms of action. Methods: Thirty six normal adult Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: the 0.1 mg/kg TZD group (0.1TZD), 0.1 mg/kg TZD and EA group (0.1TZD + EA), EA group, and control group. In other experiments, streptozotocin was used to induce type 2 diabetes mellitus in neonatal rats; these were then randomly divided into a 0.1TZD group, 0.1TZD + EA group, and EA group and changes in plasma glucose and insulin concentrations evaluated. Results: A marked hypoglycemic response was observed in the normal rat 0.1TZD, 0.1TZD + EA and EA groups, with the response more significant in the 0.1TZD + EA group than in the 0.1TZD group. Among the diabetic animals, the hypoglycemic responses in the 0.1TZD + EA and EA groups were greater than in the 0.1TZD group. In both the normal and diabetic rats, insulin secretion was increased by EA or 0.1TZD + EA treatment, but not by 0.1TZD. Conclusions: The plasma glucose lowering action of rosiglitazone was increased by EA in both normal and diabetic rats, indicating that the application of EA may enhance the hypoglycemic action of this insulin sensitizer. Non-leaching and durable antibacterial textiles finished with reactive zwitterionic sulfobetaine
Liang He,Chang Gao,Sha Li,Cordelia T.W. Chung,John H. Xin 한국공업화학회 2017 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.46 No.-
An antibacterialfinishing protocol using a reactive sulfobetaine was reported to fabricate safe anddurable antibacterial textiles. The specifically designed sulfobetaine contains highly reactive triazinegroup acting as an anchor tofix the antibacterial betaine group on textiles via covalent bond formation. After thefinishing, the textiles were endowed durable antibacterial activities of 98.0% against gramnegativeEscherichia coli and 95.2% against gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus even after they werelaundered for 30 times. The safety evaluation showed that the reactive sulfobetaine had no skin irritationand cytotoxicity. These results indicate that the developed antibacterialfinishing is safe and durable ontextiles.

<P>A direct insulator-quantum Hall (I-QH) transition corresponds to a crossover/transition from the insulating regime to a high Landau level filling factor ν > 2 QH state. Such a transition has been attracting a great deal of both experimental and theoretical interests. In this study, we present three different two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs) which are in the vicinity of nanoscaled scatterers. All these three devices exhibit a direct I-QH transition, and the transport properties under different nanaoscaled scatterers are discussed.</P>
