A study on the antitoxic effects of Flos Carthami against Cadmium Chloride Toxicity in Live and Kidney of Rats. This study was performed to find out the effect of Flos Carthami against Cadmium toxicity. The experimental rats were divided into 5 groups such as control group, Cadmium alone treatment group, three simultaneous treatment groups of Flos Carthami and cadmium. Rat were given pellets administration with three dosage of Flos Carthami such as 4mg/kg body weight for four weeks. The results were summarized as follows on: 1. The simultaneously administration of Flos Carthami and cadmium significantly more decreased cadmium concentration in liver and kidney tissues compared to the administration of cadmium alone(p<O.05). 2. The simultaneously administration of Flos Carthami and cadmium significantly more increased metallothionein concentration in liver and kidney tissues compared to administration alone(p<O.05).

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) has a recognized association with solid organ tumors, but is relatively rare in hematological malignancies. We report a 67-year-old male who developed BP after being diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome and refractory anemia with excess of blast (RAEB). Skin biopsy elucidated sub-epidermal bulla using direct immunofluorescence, revealing linear C3 and IgG deposits along the basement membrane. His BP was recalcitrant to the conventional treatment and only responded to a combination of high dose oral prednisolone and azathioprine. The relative refractory nature of his condition and concurrent RAEB supports a paraneoplastic nature. (Ann Dermatol 23(S3) S390~S392, 2011)

In this study, we examined the strategy that was used to avoid prepositional-stranding when the argument of ‘比’ the inequal comparison marker was relativized. When the arguments of the inequal comparison marker was relativized, it was found that the inequal comparison marker ‘比’ was not stranded, and the prepositional phrase was retained(=pronoun retention) as a strategy to avoid stranding. We also examined the inner factors that limit relativization in the inequal comparison category, which was a result that is consistent with some of the hierarchies of ‘potentiality of agency’ presented in Dixon (1975: 85) as a concept similar to the hierarchy of animacy.

Purpose: Strokes are challenging to diagnose in pediatric emergency departments (EDs) as level of suspicion is low and atypical presentations are common. We analyzed clinical features, epidemiology and factors of delayed identification in arterial ischemic strokes (AIS) and hemorrhagic strokes (HS). Methods: Single-center retrospective cohort study of children aged between 29 days and 18 years old diagnosed with stroke between July 2016 to June 2021. Results: Among 36 children, 11 (30.5%) had AIS, 25 (69.4%) had HS. Median age for AIS was 9 years (interquartile range [IQR], 2 to 9) and HS 9 years (IQR, 1 to 11.5) (P=0.715). Focal neurological deficit was seen in 72.7% of AIS and 20% of HS (P=0.006). Only 18.2% of AIS and 52.0% of HS presented within 6 hours of symptoms. Median time from symptom onset to ED presentation was 24 hours (IQR, 12 to 28) for AIS and 7 hours (IQR, 1.8 to 48) for HS (P=0.595). Most (85.6%) arrived by own transport. Median time from presentation to neuroimaging was 7 hours (IQR, 0.9 to 7) for AIS and 4.8 (IQR, 1.3 to 16.8) hours for HS (P=0.376). Eleven patients, 9/25 (36.0%) HS and 2/11 (18.2%) AIS, did not have stroke as differential diagnosis at ED (P=0.714). Common initial diagnoses were viral illness or headaches. On univariate analysis, age <1 (odds ratio [OR], 17.5; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.2 to 250.4; P=0.035) and absence of focal neurological deficit (OR, 13.091; 95% CI, 1.5 to 117.9; P=0.022) were significant factors for delayed identification. Conclusion: Index of suspicion for pediatric strokes among caregivers and clinicians should be increased. Public awareness campaigns are recommended.
Identifi cation of key leaf color-associated genes in Gleditsia sinensis using bioinformatics

This study aimed to explore leaf-color associated genes in Gleditsia sinensis ( G. sinensis ) using bioinformatics methods. Green, purple, and yellow leaves were collected from G. sinensis in Shandong Institute of Pomology. Total RNA was collectedfrom leaves and subjected to transcriptome sequencing. Diff erentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identifi ed amongthe diff erent colored leaves using RSEM method followed by functional enrichment analysis. Finally, qRT-PCR analysis wasused to assess the expression of several pigment-related genes enriched in signifi cant GO or KEGG terms. A total of 10,953,14,961, and 8916 DEGs were identifi ed between green vs. purple leaves, green vs. yellow leaves, and purple vs. yellow leaves,respectively. Among the green vs. purple leaves, DEGs were signifi cantly enriched in terms of iron ion binding, tetrapyrrolebinding, (e.g., CYP26A1 , CYP97A3 , and CYP86A1 ), and starch and sucrose metabolism (e.g., TPS and VTC2 ). DEGsfor green/purple vs. yellow groups were markedly enriched in circadian rhythm-plant KEGG pathway, including ELF3 andCHS . Compared with their expression in green leaves, CYP26A1 , CYP97A3 , CYP86A1 , TPS and VTC2 were signifi cantlydownregulated in purple leaves, while downregulation of ELF3 and upregulation of CHS was detected in yellow leaves. CYPs (e.g., CYP26A1 and CYP97A3 ) might play critical roles in the determination of leaf color in G. sinensis via iron ionand tetrapyrrole binding. In addition, genes related to starch and sucrose metabolism (e.g., TPS and VTC2 ), and circadianrhythms (e.g., ELF3 and CHS ) might also be involved in controlling leaf color.
A Novel Data Classification Method and its Application in IRIS Flower Shape

IRIS flower data is a class of multi variable data set, which is widely applied in data classification. This paper aims at the parameter optimization problem of least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) in data classification, an improved particle swarm optimization(IMPSO) algorithm is introduced into the LS-SVM model for improving the learning performance and generalization ability of LS-SVM model. A new data classification method based on IMPSO algorithm and LS-SVM (IMPSO-LS-SVM) model is proposed. First, the numbers of current iteration and population are added into the control strategy of adaptive adjustment inertia weight in order to improve the performance of inertia weight of PSO algorithm. Then the IMPSO algorithm is used to search the optimal combination values of the parameters of kernel function for obtaining the IMPSO-LS-SVM. Finally, the training samples are used to comprehensively train the IMPSO-LS-SVM, and the best large-scale data classification model is constructed. The IRIS flower data is used to validate the effectiveness of the IMPSO-LS-SVM model. The result indicates that the IMPSO algorithm can effectively search the optimal combination values of the parameters, and the proposed data classification model has better generalization performance, faster training speed and higher classification precision.
Inhibitory Effects of $(1R,9S)-{\beta}-Hydrastine$ on Calcium Transport in PC12 Cells

[ $(1R,9S)-{\beta} ]-Hydrastine$ (BHS), at $100{\mu}M$, has been shown to mainly reduce the $K^+-induced$ dopamine release and $Ca^{2+}$ influx by blocking the L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel and inhibit the caffeine activated store-operated $Ca^{2+}$ channels, but not those activated by thapsigargin, in PC12 cells. In this study, the effects of BHS on $Ca^{2+}$ transport from $Ca^{2+}$ stores in the absence of external $Ca^{2+}$ were investigated in PC12 cells. BHS decreased the basal intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ concentration $([Ca^{2+}]_i)$ in the absence of external $Ca^{2+}$ in PC12 cells. In the absence of external $Ca^{2+}$, pre-treating PC12 cells with $100{\mu}M$ BHS reduced the rapid increase in the $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ elicited by 20mM caffeine, but not that by $1{\mu}M$ thapsigargin. In addition, BHS inhibited the increase in the $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ elicited by restoration of 2mM $CaCl_2$ after the $Ca^{2+}$ stores had been depleted by 20mM caffeine, but not those depleted by $1{\mu}M$ thapsigargin, in the absence of external $Ca^{2+}$. These results suggested that BHS mainly inhibited $Ca^{2+}$ leakage from the $Ca^{2+}$ stores and the caffeine-stimulated release of $Ca^{2+}$ from the caffeine-sensitive $Ca^{2+}$ stores in PC12 cells.

Organized introduction of prophylactic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination can reduce the burden of cervical cancer in developing countries. One of the most effective ways is through a national school-based program. Information on teachers is therefore important since this group may have a disproportionate influence in the success of any implementation. Objective: To assess teachers' knowledge and perception of HPV, cervical cancer and HPV vaccine prior to commencing a school-based HPV vaccination program in a multiethnic, predominantly Muslim country. Factors associated with acceptability of the vaccine were identified. Method: A bilingual questionnaire was applied to 1,500 secondary school teachers from 20 urban schools in Malaysia. Data collected were analyzed using SPSS version 17. Results: 1,166 questionnaires were returned. From this group, 46.1% had never heard of HPV while 50.9% had never had a pap smear. However, 73.8% have heard of the HPV vaccine with 75% agreeing to have it. 96% considered themselves religious with 79.8% agreeing to have the vaccine. Conclusions: A national school-based HPV immunization program can be implemented effectively in a multiethnic, cultural and religious country despite limited knowledge of HPV-related pathology among teachers. In addition, the perception that religion has a negative influence on such a program is unwarranted.
