The effect of light absorption by sample in the analysis of Maker fringe data for estimating a second-order nonlinear coefficient has been studied experimentally. Two theories, one by Jerphagnon and Kurtz that neglects the absorption effect and one by Herman and Hayden that takes into account the absorption effect, were compared with the experimental results. It was found that Jerphagnon and Kurtz's formula was unable to predict correctly not only the magnitude but also the incident angle dependence or the sample thickness dependence of the second harmonic signal generated by the sample with strong absorption, whereas the theory by Herman and Hayden was able to make those predictions fairly well. It was also found that the error in the estimated nonlinear coefficient when one uses Jerphagnon and Kurtz's formula could be as large as 2-4 times the true value, depending on sample thickness. ?? 1998 Optical Society of America

A haptic steering system which reflects steering reaction torque has been developed for a fixed base vehicle simulator. The haptic steering system consists of a steering effort sensor, MR-clutch, AC servo motor and controller. In order to generate realistic steering torque feel to driver, 3D torque map is constructed by experimental data and torque generation algorithm using the torque map has been also developed. 3D torque map is constructed using curve fitting and interpolation technique of the measured values of the steering angle, velocity and steering torque from actual slalom test on the proving ground. For curve fitting and interpolation method, model based calibration tool box in Matlab program is utilized. In order to carry out performance test of the developed haptic steering system, fixed based vehicle simulator is constructed by integrating real time vehicle dynamics module, VR-video/audio module, and the haptic steering system. Steering torque and steering angle curves have been obtained from virtual testing in the vehicle simulator and performance of the haptic steering system has been evaluated.

이 글은 2011년 동일본 대지진의 여파로 발생했던 후쿠시마 원전폭발 사고를 계기로 현대 사회에서 교육이 맡아야 할 역할과 책임에 대해서 성찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 후쿠시마 사태와 교육의 문제를 좀 더 풍부한 일반교육학적 맥락에서 연관시키기 위해 먼저 제2장에서 울리히 벡의 ‘위험사회론’의 기본 착상을 소개하였다. 벡에 따르면 현대 사회는 전통의 근대화와는 다른 새로운 근대화의 단계로 진입했는데, 이는 전자가 스스로 산출한 파국적 위험들이 오늘날 분명하게 드러나게 되었기 때문이다. 이제 우리는 파국적인 위난과 위험을 완전히 통제, 제거할 수 있다는 헛된 환상에서 벗어나서 상시적인 위험과 더불어 살아가는 법을 배워야 한다. 그리고 이를 위해서는 ‘성찰적 근대화’가 요구된다. 제3장에서는 전통의 근대화의 두 축이었던 과학과 정치에서의 성찰성(reflexity)을 검토함으로써 위험사회를 교육의 문제와 연관시킬 수 있는 매개 고리를 마련하였다. 벡에 따르면 근대 사회의 필연적 발전 과정에서 사실적으로 발생한 ‘잠재적 성찰성’은 근대화의 자기모순을 성찰할 수 있는 자율적인 주체의 형성을 통해서만 실현가능하다. 벡은 이러한 작업을 ‘제2의 계몽’이라고 부른다. 제4장은 현대 교육의 역할과 책임이 바로 이 제2의 계몽을 실현하는 데에 있다고 보고, 이에 적합한 교육을 성찰적 주체의 형성, 성찰적 주체 형성을 위한 교육실천, 성찰적 교육학의 필요성 등으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 제5장은 후쿠시마 사태와 같은 현대의 재난은 또 하나의 특수교육학 즉 위험교육학을 요구하기 이전에 먼저 교육 본연의 과제에 대한 더욱 철저한 반성을 요구한다는 결론으로 끝맺는다. Diese Schrift setzt sich mit der Frage auseinander, welche Rolle und Verantwortung die gegewartige Erziehung ubernehmen sollte, in Hinsicht der Kernkraftwerk-Katasrophe in Hukusima, Japan 2011. Im Kapitel 2 wird Becks Theorie der Risikogesellschaft vorgestellt. Nach seiner Analyse tritt der Modernisierungsprozess seit 19. Jh. in eine neue Phase ein, die durch alltagliches aber katasrophales Risiko im normalen Leben charakterisiert werden kann. Wir sind dadurch mit einer neuen Anfordrung gegenüberstellt worden, zu lernen, wie wir mit dem alltaglichen Risiko zusammenleben können. Im Kapitel 3 wird der Begriff Reflexive Modernisierung dargestellt. Diese Dastellung bietet einen guten Ansatzpunkt für eine reiche Verbindung zwischen Risikogesellschaft und Erziehung. Die Reflexive Modernisierung als eine potentielle Moglichkeit ist nur durch Bildung oder Erziehung der reflexiven und autonomen Subjekt realisierbar. Beck nennt diesen Prozess die zweite Aufklarung. Das Kapitel 4 geht davon aus, dass die Rolle und Verantwortungen der Erziehung in der Realisierung zweiter Aufklärung liegen. Was bedeutet diese für die Erziehung und Erziehungswissenschaft? Ich habe versucht, diese Frage in drei Punkten zu beantworten: Bildung der reflexiven Subjekten, Notwendigkeit der reflexiven Erziehungswissenschaft, einige pädagogische Richtungen in Risikogesellschaft. Die Konklusion dieser Schrift liegt darin, dass die gegenwärtige Risikogesellschaft eine tiefe Reflexion in die eigentliche Aufgabe der Erziehung anfordert.

Exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) light induces photoaging of skin, leading to wrinkles and sunburn. The perennial herb Humulus japonicus, widely distributed in Asia, is known to have antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant effects. However, the physiological activities of isolated compounds from H. japonicus have rarely been investigated. This study focused on the isolation of active compounds from H. japonicus and the evaluation of their effects on photoaging in UVB-irradiated human fibroblast (Hs68) cells. When the extract and four fractions of H. japonicus were treated respectively in UVB-irradiated Hs68 cells to investigate anti-photoaging effects, the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) fraction showed the strongest inhibitory effect on MMP- 1 secretion. From EtOAc fraction, we isolated luteolin-8-C-glucoside (1), apigenin-8-C-glucoside (2), and luteolin-7-O-glucoside (3). These compounds suppressed UVB-induced MMP-1 production by inhibiting the phosphorylation of the mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and activator protein-1 (AP-1). When the antioxidant activity of the compounds were estimated by conducting western blot, calculating the bond dissociation energies of the O-H bond (BDE) at different grade, and measuring radical scavenging activity, we found luteolin-8-C-glucoside (1) showed the strongest activity on the suppression of UVB-induced photoaging. These results demonstrate the inhibitory effect of three flavone glycosides derived from H. japonicus on MMP-1 production, MAPK and AP-1 signaling, and oxidative stress; this could prove useful in suppressing UVB induced photoaging.

<P>The impact of process-induced random dopant fluctuation (RDF)-induced threshold voltage (Vth) variation on the performance of 7-nm n-type germanium (Ge) FinFETs with and without a metal-interlayer-semiconductor (MIS) source/drain (S/D) structure is investigated using 3-D TCAD simulations. In order to reduce the RDF-induced Vth variation, an MIS S/D structure with a heavily doped n-type zinc oxide (ZnO) interlayer is used in the S/D region of the Ge FinFET. Thus, without performance degradation, the Ge FinFET with an MIS S/D structure achieves approximately threefold reduction in the RDF-induced Vth variation (versus without an MIS S/D structure). The impact of various fin parameters (i. e., fin height and fin width) on the RDF-induced Vth variation is also investigated. It is noteworthy that variation is suppressed as the fin height (fin width) increases (decreases).</P>
