Aiming at the quiet centrifugal pump design, the effect of number of blades on the flow-induced noise is explored. The results show that the sound pressure fluctuation is generated due to the influence of sound source fluctuation and adjacent spatial locations, and the fluctuation ranges of sound source and sound pressure at the same location change little with the change in the number of blades. Additionally, the total sound source intensity increases along the flow direction in the volute under the same rotational radius, while it increases slowly and even decreases near the outlet of the impeller, which causes similar evolution characteristics of noise. Besides, the volume-weighted standard deviation of sound source (V-STDSS) is proposed to characterize the overall sound intensity, and the V-STDSS proportion of impeller is more than 0.6. The impeller with an even number of blades has a better sound performance, while the noise induced by volute with an odd number of blades is lower. Generally, the centrifugal pumps with an even number of blades have a better sound performance. This research can guide the noise control and optimization design of centrifugal pumps.

Two new anthraquinone dimers, melrubiellin A(1) and melrubiellin B (2), were isolated from the aerialpart of Melandrium firmum Rohrbach, along with sevenknown compounds (3–9). The structures of these compoundswere elucidated by spectral analyses, including 1Dand 2D NMR (COSY, HMQC, HMBC and NOESY)experiments. Compound 1 and 2 exhibited significantcytotoxicity towards HeLa, NCI-H460, Hep G2, Hep 3Band MKN-28 cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 5.26to 81.16 lM.

<P>Blood levels of adiponectin, an adipocyte-secreted protein correlated with metabolic and cardiovascular risks, are highly heritable. Genome-wide association (GWA) studies for adiponectin levels have identified 14 loci harboring variants associated with blood levels of adiponectin. To identify novel adiponectin-associated loci, particularly those of importance in East Asians, we conducted a meta-analysis of GWA studies for adiponectin in 7827 individuals, followed by two stages of replications in 4298 and 5954 additional individuals. We identified a novel adiponectin-associated locus on chromosome 10 near <I>WDR11-FGFR2</I> (<I>P</I> = 3.0 × 10−14) and provided suggestive evidence for a locus on chromosome 12 near <I>OR8S1-LALBA</I> (<I>P</I> = 1.2 × 10−7). Of the adiponectin-associated loci previously described, we confirmed the association at <I>CDH13</I> (<I>P</I> = 6.8 × 10−165), <I>ADIPOQ</I> (<I>P</I> = 1.8 × 10−22), <I>PEPD</I> (<I>P</I> = 3.6 × 10−12), <I>CMIP</I> (<I>P</I> = 2.1 × 10−10), <I>ZNF664</I> (<I>P</I> = 2.3 × 10−7) and <I>GPR109A</I> (<I>P</I> = 7.4 × 10−6). Conditional analysis at <I>ADIPOQ</I> revealed a second signal with suggestive evidence of association only after conditioning on the lead SNP (<I>P</I>initial = 0.020; <I>P</I>conditional = 7.0 × 10−7). We further confirmed the independence of two pairs of closely located loci (<2 Mb) on chromosome 16 at <I>CMIP</I> and <I>CDH13</I>, and on chromosome 12 at <I>GPR109A</I> and <I>ZNF664</I>. In addition, the newly identified signal near <I>WDR11-FGFR2</I> exhibited evidence of association with triglycerides (<I>P</I> = 3.3 × 10−4), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C, <I>P</I> = 4.9 × 10−4) and body mass index (BMI)-adjusted waist–hip ratio (<I>P</I> = 9.8 × 10−3). These findings improve our knowledge of the genetic basis of adiponectin variation, demonstrate the shared allelic architecture for adiponectin with lipids and central obesity and motivate further studies of underlying mechanisms.</P>

Objective: This study was performed to examine whether the porcine glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 1 (GOT1) gene has important functions in regulating adipocyte differentiation. Methods: Porcine GOT1 knockout and overexpression vectors were constructed and transfected into the mouse adipogenic 3T3-L1 cells. Lipid droplets levels were measured after 8 days of differentiation. The mechanisms through which GOT1 participated in lipid deposition were examined by measuring the expression of malate dehydrogenase 1 (MDH1) and malic enzyme (ME1) and the cellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) content. Results: GOT1 knockout significantly decreased lipid deposition in the 3T3-L1 cells (p< 0.01), whereas GOT1 overexpression significantly increased lipid accumulation (p<0.01). At the same time, GOT1 knockout significantly decreased the NADPH content and the expression of MDH1 and ME1 in the 3T3-L1 cells. Overexpression of GOT1 significantly increased the NADPH content and the expression of MDH1 and ME1, suggesting that GOT1 regulated adipocyte differentiation by altering the NADPH content. Conclusion: The results preliminarily revealed the effector mechanisms of GOT1 in regulating adipose differentiation. Thus, a theoretical basis is provided for improving the quality of pork and studies on diseases associated with lipid metabolism. With approval from the Asia Pacific Metrology Program Working Group on Materials Metrology (APMP WGMM), an international comparison for sheet resistance standards for silicon wafers was firstly conducted among Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) in Korea, CMS/ITRI in Taiwan, and NIM in China, which are national metrology institutes (NMIs), from August 2011 to January 2012. The sheet resistance values of the standards are 10 Ω, 100Ω, and 1000 Ω; the measurement was conducted in sequence at KRISS, CMS/ITRI, NIM, and KRISS again using the four-point probe method with single and dual configuration techniques. The reference value for the measurement results of the three NMIs was obtained through averaging the values of the three results for each sheet resistance range. The differences between the reference value and the measured values is within 0.22% for 10Ω, 0.17% for 100Ω, and 0.12% for 1000Ω. Therefore, the international consistency for conducting sheet resistance measurements is confirmed within 0.22% through the APMP WGMM approved comparison.
