This paper aims at discussing about a electronic measuring method of transient wind speed in contrast to the mechanic measuring method, which can only measure the average wind speed. By this method, transient wind speed can be measured at high speed owing to the minimal hardware and the shortest processing time. Thus this method will be considerably effective for the long-time monitoring of wind speed variation.

These days, an attention of environment has been increasing all over the world. to prevent the green house effect and destruction of an ozone layer, an ozone destruction potential(ODP) be zero and a refrigerant for low global warming potential(GWP) is needed. HFC-134a, in which hydrogen is mixed instead of chlorine is a refrigerant used for automobile conditioners and its destruction potential is ecologically zero. However, it is not considered as a perfect substitutive refrigerant as its GWP is high. It is studied refrigerant mixtures in which HFC-134a, HFC-152a and CF_3I with low GWP and zero ODP are mixed by experimentally and concluded as follows; 1. with the variation of speed of compressor outside temperature and flow rate, the heat of evaporator and compressor and coefficient of performance was varied, and influenced the air conditioner. 2. The pressure of evaporator was decreased with increasing the speed of compressor and that of the refrigerant HFC-134a was higher 21% than that of azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I. The overall capacity of condensor and evaporator was increased and HGC-134a was higher than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I 3. The capacity of evaporator with the refrigerant HFC-134a was higher 6% than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF31 and the required power with zaotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I was higher 11% than that of HFC-134a. 4. The COP of the refrigerant FHC-134a was higher 31% in 1000RPM. when outside temperature was increased, COP was decreased. 5. Performance of HFC-134a is better than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I but prefered zaotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I considering the environment.

Nucleotide and amino acid substitution pattern in vif gene of the Korean clade of HIV-1 isolated from Koreans were analyzed using consensus sequences. At nucleotide level, transition/transversion substitution ratio was 1.88, and nonsynonymous/synonymous substitution ratio was 2.67, suggesting a divergent evolution in the Korean clade. At amino acid level, there were 17 substitutions and $G{\rightarrow}E$ substitution at position 37 may be responsible for change in predicted secondary structure.

<P>The palladium-catalyzed diacetoxylation and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid-catalyzed diacetoxylation using inexpensive and environmentally friendly hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid were successfully conducted with the help of microchemical technology. <P>The temporal and spatial regulation of β-1,3-glucan synthesis plays an important role in morphogenesis during fungal growth and development. Northern blot analysis showed that the transcription of fksA, the gene encoding β-1,3-glucan synthase in Aspergillus nidulans, was cell-cycle-dependent and increased steadily over the duration of the vegetative period, but its overall expression during the asexual and sexual stages was fairly constant up until the time of transcription cessation. In an A. nidulans strain mutated in the eukaryotic bHLH-like APSES transcription factor stuA1, the transcriptional level of fksA, and consequently the content of alkali-insoluble cell wall β-glucan, significantly increased at the conidial chain formation and maturation stage. Electrophoretic mobility shift assays revealed that StuA was bound to StREs (StuA Response Elements) on the fksA promoter region. Promoter analysis with sGFP-fusion constructs also indicated the negative regulation of fksA expression by StuA, especially during asexual development. Taken together, these data suggest that StuA plays an important role in cell wall biogenesis during the development of A. nidulans, by controlling the transcription level of fksA.</P>
Continuous-Flow Synthesis of <i>meta</i>-Substituted Phenol Derivatives

<P>Two complementary microreactor technologies were developed for the study of biphasic gas–liquid reactions and preparation of <I>meta</I>-substituted phenol derivatives. The first capillary microreactor, composed of a T-junction and simple capillary, enabled oxidative Heck/dehydrogenation on a microgram scale with a shortened reaction time; the total sequence time for oxidative Heck/dehydrogenation reactions was optimized from 2160 min in a traditional batch system to 130 min in the microchemical system. The second tube-in-tube microreactor, composed of a gas-permeable inner tube and gas-nonpermeable outer tube, successfully performed a gram-scale synthesis under the optimized safety and economic conditions which were established from the first microgram-scale study. Background/Aims We investigated the role of representative endoplasmic reticulum proteins, stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1), and store-operated calcium entry-associated regulatory factor (SARAF) in pacemaker activity in cultured interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) isolated from mouse small intestine. Methods The whole-cell patch clamp technique applied for intracellular calcium ions ([Ca<sup>2+</sup>]i) analysis with STIM1 or SARAF overexpressed cultured ICCs from mouse small intestine. Results In the current-clamping mode, cultured ICCs displayed spontaneous pacemaker potentials. External carbachol exposure produced tonic membrane depolarization in the current-clamp mode, which recovered within a few seconds into normal pacemaker potentials. In STIM1-overexpressing cultured ICCs pacemaker potential frequency was increased, and in SARAF-overexpressing ICCs pacemaker potential frequency was strongly inhibited. The application of gadolinium (a non-selective cation channel inhibitor) or a Ca<sup>2+</sup>-free solution to understand Orai channel involvement abolished the generation of pacemaker potentials. When recording intracellular Ca<sup>2+</sup> concentration with Fluo 3-AM, STIM1-overexpressing ICCs showed an increased number of spontaneous intracellular Ca<sup>2+</sup> oscillations. However, SARAF-overexpressing ICCs showed fewer spontaneous intracellular Ca<sup>2+</sup> oscillations. Conclusion Endoplasmic reticulum proteins modulated the frequency of pacemaker activity in ICCs, and levels of STIM1 and SARAF may determine slow wave patterns in the gastrointestinal tract.
