Make it part of the story: The role of product placement prominence and integration in fashion and beauty blogs among young digital natives

        Cárdaba Miguel A. M.,Fernández A.,Martinez L.,Cuesta U. 한국마케팅과학회 2023 Journal of Global Fashion Marketing Vol.14 No.2

Product placement is one of the most widely used marketing and advertising strategies. Although previous research has examined the role of different key variables in traditional media, the effect of prominence and integration in product placement strategies that appear in digital media such as fashion and beauty blogs has not been fully investigated. A 2 (Prominence: “low” vs. “high”) X 2 (Integration: “low” vs. “high”) between-subjects experiment was conducted to examine the impact of these variables on young digital natives consumers’ recall and attitudes towards the product, the brand, the blog- ger and the post. The results show that integrated placements are effective at eliciting brand and product recall and improv- ing attitudes towards the post and the blogger. Prominence, on the other hand, did not have the expected impact on brand or product recall. In addition, Prominent product placement did increase consumers’ suspicion of the persuasion attempt. Implications and recommendations for bloggers and marketers are discussed.

New metal-free nanolubricants based on carbon-dots with outstanding antiwear performance

        C. Chimeno-Trinchet,M.E. Pacheco,A. Fernández-González,M.E. Díaz-García,R. Badía-Laíño 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.87 No.-

Nanoparticles have already demonstrated a good performance in improving the wear and/or coefficientof friction when used as nanolubricants. Nevertheless, they show two main drawbacks: most of them aremetal-based and, therefore, eco-unfriendly, and they are mostly hydrophilic and, consequently, unstablein organic media, whichfinally drives to aggregation/sedimentation and the loose of the good properties. In this work, we carry out the synthesis of carbon-based nanoparticles for additives in lubricants fromtwo different approaches: either using ionic liquids as carbons source, or using glutathione as carbonsource and decorating the so-obtained carbon dots with the big organic cations of the ionic liquid. Thefinal materials (diameters between 2.2 and 3.5 nm) were characterized by TEM, FTIR, XPS, andluminescent methodologies, finding long-term stability of the suspensions in organic media ( 15 days). Carbon dots obtained directly from the ionic liquids, in particular from methyltrioctylammoniumchloride (MTOACDs) have demonstrated to be the best candidate as additive in different base oils (0.1%,w/v) and lubrication regimes, reducing the coefficient of friction about 30% and wear scar in more than60% in the most extreme of the tested conditions (120 N). Additionally, nanolubricants are metal-free andtherefore, more eco-friendly than classic additives.

      • Supramolecular Zinc Phthalocyanine-Imidazolyl Perylenediimide Dyad and Triad: Synthesis, Complexation, and Photophysical Studies

        Cé,spedes-Guirao, F. Javier,Ohkubo, Kei,Fukuzumi, Shunichi,Ferná,ndez-Lá,zaro, Fernando,Sastre-Santos, Á,ngela Wiley (John WileySons) 2011 Chemistry, an Asian journal Vol.6 No.11

Two new supramolecular architectures based on zinc phthalocyanine (Pc) and imidazolyl-substituted perylenediimide (PDI), ZnPc/DImPDI/ZnPc 1 and ZnPc/ImPDI 2, have been prepared. A strong electron-donor, ZnPc-8, which contained eight tert-octylphenoxy groups was synthesized to ensure high solubility, thereby reducing aggregation in solution and providing ??-donor features while avoiding regioisomeric mixtures. Also, PDI units were functionalized with tert-octylphenoxy groups at the bay positions, which provide solubility to avoid aggregation in solution, together with one and two imidazole moieties in the amide position, PDI-6 and PDI-4, respectively, to be able to strongly coordinate with the ZnPc complex. Supramolecular complexation studies by (1)H NMR spectroscopy and ESI-MS demonstrate a high coordinative binding constant between imidazole-substituted PDI-4 or PDI-6 and ZnPc-8. The same results were confirmed by UV/Vis and fluorescence titration studies. UV/Vis titration studies revealed the formation of a 1:1 complex ZnPc/ImPDI 2 for the systems ZnPc-8 and PDI-6 and a 2:1 complex ZnPc/DImPDI/ZnPc 1 for the interaction of ZnPc-8 and PDI-4. The binding constant in both cases was determined to be on the order of 10(5) M(-1). Femtosecond laser flash photolysis measurements provided a direct proof of the charge-separated state within both supramolecular assemblies by observing the transient absorption band at 820 nm due to the zinc phthalocyanine radical cation. The lifetimes of charge-separated states are (9.8±3) ns for triad 1 and (3±1) ns for dyad 2. As far as we know, this is the first time that a radical ion pair has been detected in a supramolecular assembled ZnPc-PDI system and has obtained the longest lifetime of a charge-separated state published for ZnPc-PDI assemblies.

REAL-TIME VISION-BASED BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM: EXPERIMENTS WITH MOTORCYCLES IN DAYTIME/NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS

        C. FERNÁNDEZ,D. F. LLORCA,M. A. SOTELO,I. G. DAZA,A. M. HELLÍN,S. ÁLVAREZ 한국자동차공학회 2013 International journal of automotive technology Vol.14 No.1

This paper describes a real-time vision-based blind spot warning system that has been specially designed for motorcycles detection in both daytime and nighttime conditions. Motorcycles are fast moving and small vehicles that frequently remain unseen to other drivers, mainly in the blind-spot area. In fact, although in recent years the number of fatal accidents has decreased overall, motorcycle accidents have increased by 20%. The risks are primarily linked to the inner characteristics of this mode of travel: motorcycles are fast moving vehicles, light, unstable and fragile. These features make the motorcycle detection problem a difficult but challenging task to be solved from the computer vision point of view. In this paper we present a daytime and nighttime vision-based motorcycle and car detection system in the blind spot area using a single camera installed on the side mirror. On the one hand, daytime vehicle detection is carried out using optical flow features and Support Vector Machine-based (SVM) classification. On the other hand, nighttime vehicle detection is based on head lights detection. The proposed system warns the driver about the presence of vehicles in the blind area, including information about the position and the type of vehicle. Extensive experiments have been carried out in 172 minutes of sequences recorded in real traffic scenarios in both daytime and nighttime conditions, in the context of the Valencia MotoGP Grand Prix 2009.

Facile Method to Obtain Low DS β-ketoesters and Esters of Microfibrillated Cellulose

        Carmen C. Piras,Scott A. Jamieson,Emiliano Fratini,Susana Fernández-Prieto,Johan Smets,Wim M. De Borggraeve 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.10

Herein we report a facile approach to prepare low DS microfibrillated cellulose acetoacetates and esters. All thereactions were performed directly in cellulose slurries without the need of solvent evaporation, which can cause hornification, and without damaging the fibres. The products obtained display the inserted functionalities while retaining the main featuresand morphology of the unmodified cellulose fibres. In comparison to previously reported synthetic routes, this method iscost-effective, more environmentally friendly through omission of extra solvents and the possibility of reusing the dispersingagents, which can be recovered by distillation.

Neuro-Fuzzy Modelling and Stable PD Controller for Angular Position in Steering Systems

        Ramos-Fernández Julio C.,López-Morales Virgilio,Márquez-Vera Marco A.,Pérez Juan Manual Xicotencatl,Suarez-Cansino Joel 한국자동차공학회 2021 International journal of automotive technology Vol.22 No.6

The precision agriculture and soil tillage are tasks which can be achieved by Automated Tractors (AT) through the integration of several servomechanisms. In order to reach a high autonomy under various work conditions of the AT, control laws’ design and tuning are paramount. The aim of this work is to develop an angle position controller for steering systems applied to an AT. We introduce an automatic electronic steering system by using a fuzzy model, obtained through an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) algorithm training. A proportional derivative (PD) controller is also tuned through a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model (T-S). Furthermore, several closed-loop stability tests were carried out, in numerical simulation and real-time implementation. The feasibility of our methodology is illustrated through the tracking of several angles’ profiles in a real test scenario. For the tracking of a trajectory or several set-points, we have obtained mean errors about 0.6545 and 0.8651 degrees, respectively. Some mechatronic integrations to convert a conventional tractor into a basic Autonomous Agriculture Off-road Tractor (AAOT) are also shown.

Hemostats in Spine Surgery: Literature Review and Expert Panel Recommendations

        J.C. Le Huec,S. AlEissa,A.J. Bowey,B. Debono,A. El-Shawarbi,N. Fernández-Baillo,K.S. Han,A. Martin-Benlloch,R. Pflugmacher,P. Sabatier,D. Vanni,I. Walker,T. Warren,S. Litrico 대한척추신경외과학회 2022 Neurospine Vol.19 No.1

Bleeding in spine surgery is a common occurrence but when bleeding is uncontrolled the consequences can be severe due to the potential for spinal cord compression and damage to the central nervous system. There are many factors that influence bleeding during spine surgery including patient factors and those related to the type of surgery and the surgical approach to bleeding. There are a range of methods that can be employed to both reduce the risk of bleeding and achieve hemostasis, one of which is the adjunct use of hemostatic agents. Hemostatic agents are available in a variety of forms and materials and with considerable variation in cost, but specific evidence to support their use in spine surgery is sparse. A literature review was conducted to identify the pre-, peri-, and postsurgical considerations around bleeding in spine surgery. The review generated a set of recommendations that were discussed and ratified by a wider expert group of spine surgeons. The results are intended to provide a practical guide to the selection of hemostats for specific bleeding situations that may be encountered in spine surgery.

Behavior of wall panels in industrial buildings caused by differential settlements

        Suyai Fernández,Rossana C. Jaca,Luis A. Godoy 국제구조공학회 2015 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.56 No.3

This paper presents the analysis of mechanical behavior of metal wall panels of storehouses and industrial buildings subjected to differential settlements. The storehouses considered are representative of those used in the agricultural activity. A small-scale model was built and tested in order to have evidence of the behavior and to validate computational models. The numerical investigation is carried out through finite element analysis using a general-purpose software, by modeling buildings with different geometries and evaluating different settlements of the ground. To obtain an adequate model, geometric non-linearity has to be taken into account. Models that represent the most usual geometric typologies were investigated under support settlements. The deflected shape of the wall panel and the relationship between the horizontal displacements and the settlement of the foundations are evaluated. The results show that there are large outof- plane displacements caused by settlements that would be admitted by design recommendations.

      • Perception of clinical educational environment by student of physiotherapy based on the Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measurement Questionnaire in Chile

        Karen Córdova-León,Lincoyán Fernández-Huerta,Marcela Rojas-Vargas 한국보건의료인국가시험원 2019 보건의료교육평가 Vol.16 No.-

PurposeIt aimed at describing the perception of the clinical educational environment by physiotherapy students based on the Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measurement Questionnaire in Chile. MethodsThe clinical education environment was evaluated according to the Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure (PHEEM) by 192 students originally enrolled in the fifth year of the physiotherapy career at 3 different headquarters of the academic institution: Santiago, Viña del Mar, and Concepcion Campus (Metropolitan, Valparaiso, and Bio Bio region, respectively), from March to October 2018. The Cronbach’s α was applied to measure the reliability of the instrument and the Student-t and analysis of variance tests were used to compare the differences of PHEEM scores by headquarters, environmental areas, and experience of internship. ResultsA total overall average score of 125.88 was obtained, which meant an excellent educational environment. The overall score was 127.6±22.7 for headquarters 1, 125.6±21.6 for headquarters 2, and 122.5±26.9 for headquarters 3. According to the type of establishment, the scores were of 127.1±22.1 for private and 123.5±26.3 for public institutes. According to the type of area, the score was cataloged as an excellent educational environment in all cases, except in the respiratory care area (lowest score, 117.5±29.1). Finally, the score was 126.9±20.5 for the first internship, 121.7±29.3 for the second, and 129.4±19.6 for the third. ConclusionThere is relative homogeneity of the clinical educational environment for different headquarters, types of establishment, or type of area; but there are significant differences in the number of the internship. The promotion of a good clinical educational environment can have an important impact on the development and performance of the future professional, being the detection of negative aspects an opportunity to improve the hidden curriculum.
