In this paper, we present a temperature-controlled system for MEMS electrical resistance heaters without a temperature sensor. To rapidly control the heater temperature, the microheater system developed consists of a power supply, power amplifier, digital Proportional-Integral-Differential (PID) controller, and a quarter bridge circuit with the microheater and three resistors are nominally balanced. The microheaters are calibrated inside a convection oven to obtain the temperature coefficient with a linear or quadratic fit. A voltage amplifier applies the supply voltage proportional to the control signal from the PID controller. Small changes in heater resistance generate a finite voltage across the quarter bridge circuit, which is fed back to the PID controller to compare with the set-point and to generate the control signal. Two MEMS microheaters are used for evaluating the developed control system - a NiCr serpentine microheater for a preconcentrator and a Nickel microheater for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) chip.

The integration of contrast-enhanced diagnostic imaging and therapy could utilize image guided therapy to plan treatment strategy. Toward this goal, a unique construction and operation of a pseudo metal based photothermal therapeutic agent (PPAM) is introduced by polyaniline (PANI) generation templated on iron oxide metal nanoclusters (MNCs). Notably, MNC core interferes as a catalytic agent and enables aniline polymerization under ambient acidic conditions. The intrusion of transition metal enhanced the proton sensitivity of PANI, which led to pH responsive conversion even at dilute proton concentrations (pH 5, 6) compared to the PANI particles prepared by conventional methods. Under physiological pH, PPAM reveals no special features; however, under low pH conditions, which is a notable characteristic of the cancer microenvironment, PPAM automatically converts into its emeraldine salt (ES) state and thus activates as a photothermal therapeutic agent. Utilizing this specific redox responsive switched off-on behavior of PPAM, precise and systemized photothermal therapy is demonstrated, proving itself as a smart and efficient photothermal therapeutic agent.

Contributions of the cross phase to the plasma transport

Numerical simulations of the resistive-drift plasma turbulence are performed in order to look into the effects of the E?×?B fluxes on the cross phase between the electric potential and the particle density. As the electrons become more adiabatic, it is found that the spectrum of the particle transport shifts away from the spectra of the energies. It is because the cross phases of the larger-scale () fluctuations, being the ion gyro-radius defined by the electron temperature instead of the ion temperature, where most energies reside come to be vanishingly small in correspondence to the level of adiabaticity. The cross phase in the scale is predominantly determined by the electron diamagnetic drift and the resistive current as the plasma is closer to be adiabatic. Advective parts of the E?×?B fluxes are found to reduce the cross phase and their effect is more pronounced as .
