The present study explored the reception and consumption processes of a Korean audience's viewing of local and international television dramas. Findings indicated that the influential factors on the level of viewing in regards to Korean, American, and Japanese TV dramas among Korean viewers differed. In particular, a significant difference was found in terms of perceived drama characteristics. Applying niche theory, the present study also examined the audience's motivation for watching these television dramas. Results demonstrated that Korean TV dramas possessed the broadest niche breadth and were the most competitive. In a comparison of the perceived characteristics of TV dramas, American drama earned competitive superiority for most characteristics. The implications from the results were discussed in terms of cultural discount and proximity.

This paper presents the fabrication and performance inspection of a peristaltic micropump by flow simulation. The valve-less micropump using the diffuser/nozzle is consists of base plate, mid plate, top plate and connection tubes fur inlet and outlet. In detail, the base plate is composed of two diffuser nozzles and three chambers, the mid plate consists of a glass diaphragm for the volumetric change of the pumping chamber. The inlet and outlet tubes are connected at the top plate and the actuator fur pressing the diaphragm is located beneath the top plate. The micropump is fabricated on the silicon wafer by DRIE (Deep Reactive ion Etching) process. The pumping performances are tested by the pneumatic test rig and compared with the simulated results fur various dimensions of diffuser nozzles. The pumping characteristics of the micropump by the volumetric change at the pumping chamber is modeled and simulated by the commercial software of FLOW-3D. The simulated results shows that reverse flow is the inherent phenomena in the diffuser nozzle type micropump, but it can be reduced at the dual pumping chamber model.

이 연구는 지상파의 디지털 전환과 관련해서 새로운 이슈로 국내에서 제기되고 있는 지상파 디지털 다채널 플랫폼 방안의 가능성을 영국의 프리뷰 서비스에 대한 일종의 사례분석을 통해 검토하였다. 이를 위해 우선 프리뷰의 성공 이유를 프리뷰 이전의 실패 사례인 온디지털과 대비하여 분석하였다. 다음으로 영국의 프리뷰 서비스를 한국적 상황에 적용할 경우 고려할 필요가 있는 쟁점들을, 지상파 디지털 다채널 플랫폼의 정책적 추진 필요성 관련 쟁점들, 지상파 디지털 다채널 방송 허가 관련 쟁점들, 디지털 다채널 플랫폼 운영 관련 쟁점들, 다른 플랫폼과의 관계 설정 관련 쟁점들로 구분하여 제시하였다. 이러한 작업을 통해 향후 정책적 및 학술적 논의를 위한 기초적인 논의틀을 제공할 수 있었다. This study conducted a case analysis of Freeview service in U.K. in order to consider the possibility of a Korean terrestrial digital multichannel platform which has been suggested for boosting digital television transition. For this, this study analyzed the reasons for success of Freeview by comparing with OnDigital which had been failed before Freeview. Then, this study suggested the important issues that need to be considered to introduce Freeview into the korean broadcasting situation. Specifically, these issues were classified by four categories: the policy necessities of a terrestrial digital multichannel platform, the license related issues, the management related issues, and the relationships with other broadcasting platforms. Based on these analyses, this study could provide a basic framework for future policy and academic discussions.
온라인 미디어를 통한 뉴스 이용 간 이용자 충족 적소분석

본 연구는 온라인 뉴스 이용 및 영향력의 증가에 근거하여 온라인 뉴스미디어인 인터넷, (고정형)포털, 모바일포털(이동형 포털), 소셜미디어 간의 경쟁관계를 분석하였다. 미디어 간 경쟁관계분석에 적소이론의 적소폭, 적소중복, 경쟁우위 개념을 활용하였으며, 이용의 충족에 대한 데이터는 온라인 설문조사를 통해 수집하였다. 뉴스미디어의 이용충족은 인지적, 효율성/감시, 충족기회, 적극성으로 분류하였다. 분석 결과, 적소폭의 경우 소셜미디어뉴스는 상대적으로 좁은 것으로 나타난 반면 다른 유형들은 유사한 것으로 나타났다. 적소중복의 경우, 인터넷뉴스와 포털뉴스 간의 경쟁이 가장 강한 것으로 나타났으며 소셜미디어뉴스는 다른 미디어들과 낮은 수준의 경쟁을 보였다. 경쟁우위 분석 결과, 소셜미디어뉴스의 경쟁력이 다른 미디어보다 낮은 것을 확인하였다. 회귀분석 결과, 인지적 및 효율성/감시 차원이 전반적으로 이용만족도에 유의미한 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타났으며, 지속이용의도의 경우에는 영향력을 미치는 차원들이 미디어별로 상이하였다. This study examines the competing relationships among online news media by comparing internet, portal, mobile portal, and social media. This study used the main concepts of niche theory such as niche breadth, niche overlap, and competitive superiority, and collected data of usage gratification through an online survey. Four types of news media usage gratification were found as cognitive, efficiency/surveillance, gratifications opportunities, and proactivity dimensions. As a result, portal and mobile portal news had the wider niche breadth than other media in the gratifications opportunities dimension, and in the proactivity dimension niche breadth of internet, portal, and mobile portal news was wider than social media. Niche overlap analysis shows that internet and portal news has the most strong competition relationship in every four dimensions. The result of the analysis of competitive superiority reveals that social media has the lowest level compared with other media. Stepwise regression analysis shows cognitive and efficiency/surveillance dimension can affect significantlyusage satisfaction of the four types of news media. In addition, another regression result shows that cognitive dimension has the most strong effect in internet and mobile portal, and efficiency/surveillance dimension also has the most strong effect in portal and social media on continuous usage intention.
