<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The hydraulic power-take-off mechanism (HPTO) is one of the most popular methods in wave energy converter (WECs). However, the conventional HPTO with only one direction motion has some drawbacks which limit its power capture capability. This paper proposes an <I>adjustable slope angle wave energy converter</I> (ASAWEC) and investigates the effect of slope angle on the performance of the proposed wave energy converter to find the optimal slope angle with the purpose to increase the power capture capability as well as energy efficiency. A mathematical model of components from a floating buoy to a hydraulic motor was modeled. A small scale WEC test rig was fabricated to verify the power capture capability and efficiency of the proposed system throughout experiments.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> This paper proposed an adjustable moving angle wave energy converter (AMAWEC). </LI> <LI> Mathematical model of AMAWEC was presented and simulated. </LI> <LI> An AMAWEC test rig were fabricated to do the experiment in variety of wave conditions and moving angle in the water tank. </LI> <LI> The effect of moving angle on the performance of a wave energy converter was investigated to find the optimal moving angle in each wave condition. </LI> <LI> Finally, the effectiveness of AMAWEC has been verified by experimental results. </LI> </UL> </P>

The effect of Ta substitution on the crystal structure, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric properties of $Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.82}K_{0.18})_{0.5}Ti_{1-x}Ta_xO_3$ ceramics has been investigated. The Ta doping resulted in a transition from coexistence of ferroelectric tetragonal and rhombohedral phases to an electrostrictive pseudocubic phase, leading to degradations of the remnant polarization, coercive field, and piezoelectric coefficient $d_{33}$. However, the electricfield-induced strain was significantly enhanced by the Ta substitution-induced phase transition and reached a highest value of $S_{max}/E_{max}$ = 566 pm/V under an applied electric field 6 kV/mm when 2% Ta was substituted on Ti sites. The abnormal enhancement in strain was attributed to the pseudocubic phase with high electrostrictive constants.

본 연구에서 글로벌가치사슬(Global Value Chain; GVC) 이론은 베트남 해산물 수출업체들의 해산물 GVC에 있어서 환경친화적인 수출전략의 구조와 장애요인 및 거버넌스를 이해하기 위한 개념으로 도입되었다. 최근 수입국들의 식품안전표준 요구와 비정부기구(NGO)들에 의해 도입된 새로운 인증시스템으로 인하여 베트남 해산물 수출업체들은 그들의 사업전략을 환경친화적인 방향으로 전환하고 있다. 해산물 GVC에 있어서 수입국과 베트남, 그리고 수입국과 NGOs 간의 거버넌스 관계는 이러한 전략의 선회가 뚜렷이 나타나고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 베트남 정부, NGOs 및 무역업체들의 거버넌스 역할은 제한적이다. 베트남 해산물 수출업체들의 환경친화적인 수출전략 실행에 있어서 5가지 심각한 장애요인으로는 낮은 품질, GVC상 통합과 협력의 결여, 하부구조에 대한 투자 미흡, 국제적인 바이어들 요구의 복잡성과 다양성, 지속가능성의 결여 등으로 나타났다. Global value chain (GVC) theory is used in this paper to understand the structure, bottlenecks and the governance of seafood GVC towards environmentally friendly export strategy of Vietnam seafood exporters. With important food safety standards imposed by governments of importing countries and new certification systems promoted by nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), Vietnam seafood exporters are shifting their business strategies to environmentally friendly directions. Governance relations in seafood GVC towards these strategies are clear between governments in importing countries and Vietnam, and between importers and NGOs. However, governance role of Vietnam government, NGOs and traders in the GVC is limited. Furthermore, there are five main bottlenecks have been identified as lack of quality, lack of integration and cooperation in the chain, lack of investment in infrastructure, complexity and diversity of international buyer requirements, and lack of sustainability towards environmentally friendly export strategy.

International experience and innovation capacity are factors often related to the internationalization processes of firms. The main objective of this research is to investigate the impact of international experience and innovation capacity on the export performance of Vietnamese agricultural SMEs in order to identify which factor is more significant. The Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capabilities approach were used as theoretical frameworks. The data were analyzed through partial least squares structural equation modelling. The results indicate that international experience has a greater impact on export performance than innovation capacity, showing that there is possibility of overemphasizing the role of innovation capacity in the export performance of Vietnamese agricultural SMEs.

Here we report the study on the utilization of several advanced oxidation processes such as electro-oxidation and Fenton process in simultaneous treatment of two nitramine explosives: 2,4,6-trinitrophenyl-N-metylnitramine (Tetryl) and hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX). The preliminary tests indicated that the electrolytic method using a TiO2/IrO2/RuO2-coated electrode could rapidly degrade Tetryl but not RDX. While the addition of certain amount of H2O2 induced an increase of Tetryl degradation yield but had insignificant effect on RDX decomposition, the use of Fenton’s reagent showed an enhanced efficiency in degradation of both nitramines. It can be concluded that among tested processes, Fenton process is the most effective for treatment of nitramine-containing wastewaters.

The effects of Y doping on the crystal structure, and on the ferroelectric and the piezoelectric properties of Bi0.5(Na0.82K0.18)0.5TiO3 ceramics have been investigated. The Y doping induced a transition from a ferroelectric (FE) tetragonal to an electrostrcitive (ES) pseudocubic phase, leading to the degradations of the dielectric constant, loss tangent, the remnant polarization, coercive field, and piezoelectric coefficient d33. However, the electric-field-induced strain was significantly enhanced by the Y-doping-induced phase transition and reached the highest value of Smax/Emax = 278 pm/V when 0.7 wt% Y2O3 was doped. The abnormal enhancement in strain was attributed to the coexistence of FE and ES phases, which provided more degrees of freedom for domain reorientation under electric fields.

An Evolutionary Optimization of the Refueling Simulation for a CANDU Reactor

<P>This paper presents a multi-cycle and multi-objective optimization method for the refueling simulation of a 713 MWe Canada deuterium uranium (CANDU-6) reactor based on a genetic algorithm, an elitism strategy and a heuristic rule. The proposed algorithm searches for the optimal refueling patterns for a single cycle that maximizes the average discharge burnup, minimizes the maximum channel power and minimizes the change in the zone controller unit water fills while satisfying the most important safety-related neutronic parameters of the reactor core. The heuristic rule generates an initial population of individuals very close to a feasible solution and it reduces the computing time of the optimization process. The multi-cycle optimization is carried out based on a single cycle refueling simulation. The proposed approach was verified by a refueling simulation of a natural uranium CANDU-6 reactor for an operation period of 6 months at an equilibrium state and compared with the experience-based automatic refueling simulation and the generalized perturbation theory. The comparison has shown that the simulation results are consistent from each other and the proposed approach is a reasonable optimization method of the refueling simulation that controls all the safety-related parameters of the reactor core during the simulation</P>
