A rare variant angioarchitecture of upper abdomen

        Badal Singh,Mamta Anand,Smrity Gupta 대한해부학회 2014 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.47 No.1

Vascular anomalies are frequently encountered in abdomen. But they are usually asymptomatic and diagnosed accidently during angiography or surgery leading into severe complications. Thus knowledge of angioarchitecture in abdomen, whether normal or variant, is considered prerequisite for successful, uncomplicated surgeries and interventional radiology. This case report describes one of such varying branching pattern of celiac trunk and superior mesenteric artery. During routine abdominal dissection, gastroduodenal artery was seen arising from celiac trunk along with its usual three branches. Common hepatic artery continued as left hepatic artery after giving rise the right gastric artery and a tortuous replaced right hepatic artery arose from superior mesenteric artery. An unusually long cystic artery arose from left hepatic artery and gave rise to 2-3 small anastomotic branches towards hepatic flexor of colon, in addition to its normal gallbladder supply. Awareness of such variations would certainly be helpful in upper abdominal surgeries.

Advancement of CMOS Transimpedance Amplifier for Optical Receiver

Md. Torikul Islam Badal,Mamun Bin Ibne Reaz,Lye Suet Yeng,Mohammad Arif Sobhan Bhuiyan,Fahmida Haque 한국전기전자재료학회 2019 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.20 No.2

Transimpedance amplifi er (TIA) is an essential component of optical receivers, and this type of amplifi er converts the photocurrent to a voltage signal. The overall performance of the optical receiver greatly depends on the performance of this component. Low-power, low-noise, and compact TIA has been realized in current development in CMOS technology. The high demands of an optical receiver has led to the optimization and development of the TIA designed specifi cations. However, the conventional CMOS TIA design is limited mainly because of its dependency on input node capacitance. In this article, the advancement of TIAs in data communication and instrumentation based on diff erent design architectures and performances is discussed. This review will serve as a comparative study and reference for designing fully integrated CMOS TIA for future optical receivers.

Real Time Simulation for Load Frequency Control of Multisource Microgrid System Using Grey Wolf Optimization Based Modifi ed Bias Coeffi cient Diagram Method (GWO-MBCDM) Controller

        Subir Datta,Badal Kumar,Shuma Adhikari,Nidul Sinha 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.1

This paper proposes a modifi ed bias (MB) and coeffi cient diagram method (CDM) based PID controller as a fi rst attempt in controlling frequency of a self-reliant microgrid (MG) system under extreme unfavourable scenarios. Recently developed meta-heuristic algorithm, Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), is used for optimizing the parameters of the proposed controller GWO). Frequency deviation arises in the system due to active power mismatch between load power demand and actual power generation. In order to overcome this problem the CDM based gain values and frequency biased parameters of the MG system are used for determining the ranges of the control parameters for optimization with GWO which ensures that the search points generated by the search algorithm are stable ones. Simulation of the proposed GWO optimized MB-CDM controller-based MG system has been successfully implemented in real time simulation platform using digital simulator OPAL-RT. The performance of the system is obtained using proposed controller under diff erent real-life scenarios and results are minutely analysed. The results are further compared with other relevant recent controllers including particle swarm optimization (PSO) MB-CDM controller to demonstrate that the proposed controller is superior to all other controllers. In addition, sensitivity analysis of the proposed controller for the MG system is studied under varying system parameters. The Simulink results illustrate that the proposed controller gives the best dynamic response amongst all other considered controllers in terms of peak transient deviation and settling time.

Lower altitudinal variation in habitat associations, tree diversity and co-dominant population structures along moist deciduous forests dominated by sal (Shorea robusta) in Northeast India

Koushik Majumdar,Badal Kumar Datta,Uma Shankar 한국산림과학회 2014 Forest Science And Technology Vol.10 No.4

We used line transects of 10 £ 500m size to analyze the patterns of sal associations, diversity and population structure atlower elevation (<100 meters above mean sea level) of moist deciduous forests dominated by sal (Shorea robusta) inTripura, Northeast India. Overall 216 woody species with 898.56 ha¡1 mean density and 33.21m2 ha¡1 mean basal areawere recorded using 32 line transects of 0.5 ha size sampled by measuring sal forests at 10 cm girth at breast height. Fivedifferent sal associations were recognized by cluster analysis, where sal typically associated with Terminalia bellirica,Careya arborea and Schima wallichii in moist deciduous habitats. Rare associations of sal with Artocarpus chama andDipterocarpus turbinatusa were also identified. Species diversity (p<0.001) and dominance (p<0.0001) wassignificantly different across the sal associations; species richness was recorded higher in S. robusta S. wallichiiassociation with 152 species than in S. robusta T. bellirica association with 85 species. Existing habitat disturbances andintensity of sal effects on diversity and structure were significant (p0.05), as observed by the changes in species richnessand abundance of most abundant, least abundant and unique species along the associations. Population trends andregeneration potential of sal and its most associated trees were predicted using steepness and negative slope values inregression of size class distributions of tree density per hectare at 10 girth classes for each sal association. The presentinvestigation helps in the understanding of broad ecological aspects in lowland sal habitats, particularly when thisecosystem is shifting to these regions in relatively wetter and plain areas due to climate change.

Magnetism in Single Metalloorganic Complexes Formed by Atom Manipulation

        Choi, T.,Badal, M.,Loth, S.,Yoo, J.-W.,Lutz, C. P.,Heinrich, A. J.,Epstein, A. J.,Stroud, D. G.,Gupta, J. A. American Chemical Society 2014 NANO LETTERS Vol.14 No.3

<P>The magnetic properties of molecular structures can be tailored by chemical synthesis or bottom-up assembly at the atomic scale. We used scanning tunneling microscopy to study charge and spin transfer in individual complexes of transition metals with the charge acceptor, tetracyanoethylene (TCNE). The complexes were formed on a thin insulator, Cu2N on Cu(100), by manipulation of individual atoms and molecules. The Cu2N layer decouples the complexes from Cu electron density, enabling direct imaging of the TCNE molecular orbitals as well as spin-flip inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy. Results were obtained at low temperature down to 1 K and in magnetic fields up to 7 T in order to resolve splitting of spin states in the complexes. We also performed spin-polarized density functional theory calculations to compare with the experimental data. Our results indicate that charge transfer to TCNE leads to a change in spin magnitude, Kondo resonance, and magnetic anisotropy for the metal atoms.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2014/nalefd.2014.14.issue-3/nl404054v/production/images/medium/nl-2013-04054v_0007.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl404054v'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Design of an Active Inductor-Based T/R Switch in 0.13 μm CMOS Technology for 2.4 GHz RF Transceivers

Bhuiyan, Mohammad Arif Sobhan,Reaz, Mamun Bin Ibne,Badal, Md. Torikul Islam,Mukit, Md. Abdul,Kamal, Noorfazila The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic 2016 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.17 No.5

A high-performance transmit/receive (T/R) switch is essential for every radio-frequency (RF) device. This paper proposes a T/R switch that is designed in the CEDEC 0.13 μm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology for 2.4 GHz ISM-band RF applications. The switch exhibits a 1 dB insertion loss, a 28.6 dB isolation, and a 35.8 dBm power-handling capacity in the transmit mode; meanwhile, for the 1.8 V/0 V control voltages, a 1.1 dB insertion loss and a 19.4 dB isolation were exhibited with an extremely-low power dissipation of 377.14 μW in the receive mode. Besides, the variations of the insertion loss and the isolation of the switch for a temperature change from - 25℃ to 125℃ are 0.019 dB and 0.095 dB, respectively. To obtain a lucrative performance, an active inductor-based resonant circuit, body floating, a transistor W/L optimization, and an isolated CMOS structure were adopted for the switch design. Further, due to the avoidance of bulky inductors and capacitors, a very small chip size of 0.0207 mm2 that is the lowest-ever reported chip area for this frequency band was achieved.
