ARUN GUPTA,SURBHI GUPTA,SIMI GUPTA,SURAM SINGH,ARUN BHARTI 장전수학회 2021 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.24 No.4
The study of neutron-decient nuclei in the A130 mass region has been an interesting subject in nuclear structure physics as this region is considered to be transitional region. In the present work, the positive parity rotational band structure of even-even 132,134Sm up to the high spin states has been studied in a microscopic frame work of calculations known as Projected Shell Model (PSM). Yrast spectra for 132,134Sm have been obtained from the PSM calculations and has been found to be in good agreement with the available experimental data. Besides this, the present calculations have also reported the occurrence of back bending at the same spins at which experimental data shows in both the nuclei.
Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Powder as an Antioxidant Dietary Fibre in Sheep Meat Nuggets
Verma, Arun K.,Rajkumar, V.,Banerjee, Rituparna,Biswas, S.,Das, Arun K. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.6
This study was conducted to explore the antioxidant potential and functional value of guava (Psidium guajava L.) powder in muscle foods. Guava powder was used as a source of antioxidant dietary fibre in sheep meat nuggets at two different levels i.e., 0.5% (Treatment I) and 1.0% (Treatment II) and its effect was evaluated against control. Guava powder is rich in dietary fibre (43.21%), phenolics (44.04 mg GAE/g) and possesses good radical scavenging activity as well as reducing power. Incorporation of guava powder resulted in significant decrease (p<0.05) in pH of emulsion and nuggets, emulsion stability, cooking yield and moisture content of nuggets while ash and moisture content of emulsion were increased. Total phenolics, total dietary fibre (TDF) and ash content significantly increased (p<0.05) in nuggets with added guava powder. Product redness value was significantly improved (p<0.05) due to guava powder. Textural properties did not differ significantly except, springiness and shear force values. Guava powder was found to retard lipid peroxidation of cooked sheep meat nuggets as measured by TBARS number during refrigerated storage. Guava powder did not affect sensory characteristics of the products and can be used as source of antioxidant dietary fibre in meat foods.
Hot stage microscopy and its applications in pharmaceutical characterization
Kumar Arun,Singh Pritam,Nanda Arun 한국현미경학회 2020 Applied microscopy Vol.50 No.1
Hot stage microscopy (HSM) is a thermal analysis technique that combines the best properties of thermal analysis and microscopy. HSM is rapidly gaining interest in pharmaceuticals as well as in other fields as a regular characterization technique. In pharmaceuticals HSM is used to support differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) observations and to detect small changes in the sample that may be missed by DSC and TGA during a thermal experiment. Study of various physical and chemical properties such sample morphology, crystalline nature, polymorphism, desolvation, miscibility, melting, solid state transitions and incompatibility between various pharmaceutical compounds can be carried out using HSM. HSM is also widely used to screen cocrystals, excipients and polymers for solid dispersions. With the advancements in research methodologies, it is now possible to use HSM in conjunction with other characterization techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), DSC, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) which may have additional benefits over traditional characterization techniques for rapid and comprehensive solid state characterization.

Recent investigations suggest that gut microbiota affects the brain activity through the microbiota-gut-brain axis under both physiological and pathological disease conditions like Parkinson’s disease. Further dopamine synthesis in the brain is induced by dopamine producing enzymes that are controlled by gut microbiota via the microbiota-gut-brain axis. Also alpha synuclein deposition and the associated neurodegeneration in the enteric nervous system that increase intestinal permeability, oxidative stress, and local inflammation, accounts for constipation in Parkinson’s disease patients. The trigger that causes blood brain barrier leakage, immune cell activation and inflammation, and ultimately neuroinflammation in the central nervous system is believed to be due to the chronic low-grade inflammation in the gut. The non-motor symptoms that appear years before motor symptoms could be reliable early biomarkers, if they could be correlated with the established and reliable neuroimaging techniques or behavioral indices. The future directions should therefore, focus on the exploration of newer investigational techniques to identify these reliable early biomarkers and define the specific gut microbes that contribute to the development of Parkinson’s disease. This ultimately should pave the way to safer and novel therapeutic approaches that avoid the complications of the drugs delivered today to the brain of Parkinson’s disease patients. Impaired liver regeneration and lipid homeostasis in CCl4 treated WDR13 deficient mice
Arun Prakash Mishra,Archana B. Siva,Chandrashekaran Gurunathan,Y. Komala,B. Jyothi Lakshmi 한국실험동물학회 2020 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.36 No.4
WDR13 - a WD repeat protein, is abundant in pancreas, liver, ovary and testis. Absence of this protein in mice has been seen to be associated with pancreatic β-cell proliferation, hyperinsulinemia and age dependent mild obesity. Previously, we have reported that the absence of WDR13 in diabetic Leprdb/db mice helps in amelioration of fatty liver phenotype along with diabetes and systemic inflammation. This intrigued us to study direct liver injury and hepatic regeneration in Wdr13−/0 mice using hepatotoxin CCl4. In the present study we report slower hepatic regeneration in Wdr13−/0 mice as compared to their wild type littermates after CCl4 administration. Interestingly, during the regeneration phase, hepatic hypertriglyceridemia was observed in Wdr13−/0 mice. Further analyses revealed an upregulation of PPAR pathway in the liver of CCl4- administered Wdr13−/0 mice, causing de novo lipogenesis. The slower hepatic regeneration observed in CCl4 administered Wdr13−/0 mice, may be linked to liver hypertriglyceridemia because of activation of PPAR pathway.

During minimally-invasive long-construct posterior instrumentation, it may be challenging to contour and place the rod as the screw heads are not visualized. To overcome this, we utilized the image data merging (IDM) facility of our spinal navigation system to visualize a coherent whole image of the construct throughout the procedure. Here, we describe this technique that was used for a patient in whom L1–L5 posterior instrumentation was performed. Using an IDM facility, screws are color coded and after placement, the final image is saved. Saved images of all previous screws are displayed and observed while placing the subsequent screws. Therefore, the entry point, depth, and mediolateral alignment of subsequent screws can be adjusted to fall in line with previous screws such that the rod can be placed without hassle. Moreover, final adjustments to the construct are kept to a minimum. The possibility of screw pullout due to force engaging the rod on poorly aligned screws is thus avoided.

In hot and humid climates, evaporative cooler is coupled with desiccant dehumidifier to obtain effective cooling. To realize the M-cycle-based cooler which combines liquid desiccant regeneration and evaporative cooling in a single apparatus, the effect of different feed water temperature on cooling performance is investigated in this paper. It was observed that wetting water film layer of conventional regenerative evaporative cooler (REC) carries a significant amount of sensible heat from the hot water/solution which reduced the wet-bulb effectiveness of the cooler. To enhance its effectiveness, an ultrasonic atomization mist REC was proposed. The influence of different intake conditions on cooling performance was studied and found that mist REC performed better than conventional cooler for higher feed water temperature. The wet-bulb effectiveness of the cooler ranged from 0.56 to 1.15 with maximum cooling capacity of 580[Formula: see text]W, which is comparable to the previous studies. This prototype can be further developed to an ultrasonic liquid desiccant waterless evaporative cooler.

Wildlife utilization in the tropics is massive, with nearly 5 million tons of bushmeat consumed by local communities. In India, a megadiversity nation, hunting—although illegal—is widespread among indigenous communities. However, the extent, frequency, and rationale for hunting, and factors influencing wildlife utilization are poorly known. Our study, based on 19 different indigenous communities in the Western Ghats region, revealed the utilization of 54 wild species/taxa. Although freshwater fish, herpetofauna, and small mammals were most frequently utilized, enforcement by the Forest Department was largely focused on large mammals. Gender, land ownership, number of domestic meats consumed, distance to markets, time spent hunting, and distance to hunting areas were major factors that affected wild meat utilization in the region. Although conservation needs to be focused on the most utilized groups, increasing access to domestic meats at remote settlements and integrating utilization of common, culturally prominent species can improve conservation of threatened fauna.
