Vasectomy is widely used as male contraception. There has been controversy about the effects of vasectomy on testicular morphology. Some insist that vasectomy does not alter the testicular morphology, but others persist that it does alter, and still others assert that it may alter. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of vasectomy on testicular morphology. The structures of seminiferous tubules, number of spermatids per tubule and minimal diameter of tubule were measured at intervals up to 6 months after bilateral vasectomy in rats. The structures of seminiferous tubules were different from those of control groups up to 3 months, but were same at 6 months. The number of spermatids per seminiferous tubule and minimal diameter of seminiferous tubule were same as those of control groups until 6 months.
비강 및 비인두에 발생한 도립유두종과 편평상피암종의 p53단백 및 세포증식능에 관한 연구

The inverted papilloma and squamous cell carcinoma are common neoplasia in the sinonasal cavity and nasopharynx, but the incidence of these tumors are very low and the study on the oncogenesis or biological activity of the tumor cells are not well known. This study was designed to evaluate the oncogenic roles of the p53 gene and the proliferative activity of the tumor cells in the inflammatory polyp, inverted papilloma and squamous cell carcinoma. The experiment was carried by the immunohistochemical stains about the p53 protein, PCNA and Ki-67, histochemical stain about the AgNORs. and flow cytometric analysis about the DNA ploidy using the formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues. The frequency of the expression of p53 protein was 0%(0/16 cases) in the inflammatory polyps, 18.8% (3/16 cases) in the inverted papillomas, and 87.5%(14/16 cases) in the squamous cell carcinomas. The labelling index(%) of the PCNA and Ki-67 was 5.3% and 3.3% in the inflammatoy polyps, 29.6% and 25.2% in the inverted papillomas, and 51.9% and 36.8% in the squamous cell carcinoma. The expression of the PCNA and Ki-67 was distributed in the periphery of the tumor islands of the inverted papilloma and was distributed in the both of center and periphery of the tumor islands of the squamous cell carcinoma. The number of nuclear AgNORs was increased in the order of inflammatory polyps (0.96), inverted papillomas(1.34) and squamous cell carcinoma(2.09). The frequency of the DNA aneuploidy was 0%(0/16 cases) in the inflammatory polyps, 18.8%(3/16 cases) in the inverted papillomas. and 12.5%(2/16 cases) in the squamous cell carcinomas. Above results indicates that the changes of the p53 gene and proliferative activity of the tumor cells are involved on the oncogenesis and the biological activity of the inverted papilloma or squamous cell carcinoma in the nasopharynx and sinonasa cavity.
The Photomemory Characteristics of the LB films of Merocyanine Dye

메로시아닌 색소분자의 solvatochromism과 광이성화의 전형적인 구조변화가 LB(Langmuir Blodgett)막의 상태에서 어떻게 변화하는가를 조사하였다. 실험으로부터 메로시아닌 LB막 에서도 분위기 가스(염산가스, 암모니아가스)에 의해 용액의 solvatochromism과 동일한 quinoid/benzenoid의 구조변화가 얻어지는 것과 누적된 LB막은 Mtrans와 MH?trans의 중간상태에 있어 광조사에 의한 구조변화가 얻어지지 않지만, 분위기 가스 (염산가스)를 이용한 2차 처리로서 MH?trans 구조화하면, LB 분자막에서도 용액의 경우와 동일한 광에 의한 cis/trans이성화가 일어나는 결과를 얻었다. 또한 이러한 cis/trans광이성화는 메모리 특성을 나타내었다. The structural changes of the merocyanine LB(Langmuir Blodgett) films were investigated and then were compared with the typical changes of the molecular structures of merocyanine solutions. The photoisomerization of the as-deposited LB films was not attained. But the structural changes of quinoid/benzenoid were attained by changing atmosphere gases(HCI gas, NH₃gas). By exposing the LB films to HCI gas, the cis/trans photoisomerization characteristics of the merocyanine LB films were obtained as the same manner with those of the solutions. The cis/trans photoisomerization shows the memory characteristics.
