Nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy (NFD) is a rare cutaneous fibrosing disorder that primarily affects patients with a history of renal disease. NFD manifests with induration, thickening and hardening of the skin with brawny hyperpigmentation. Lesions are typically symmetrical and usually develop on the limbs and trunk. Flexion contractures of the joints may be a feature of the disease. Histopathological features of NFD include proliferation of dermal fibroblasts and dendritic cells, thickened collagen bundles, increased elastic fibers and focal mucin deposition. Although the pathogenesis remains largely unknown, some of the factors implicated in the pathogenesis include renal dysfunction, circulating fibrocytes, vascular injury, and gadolinium which is a contrast material used in magnetic resonance imaging. Currently, no definitive or uniformly effective therapies are available for the treatment of NFD. We herein describe the case of a 44-year-old female NFD patient who undergoes significant improvement of skin lesions and associated joint contracture after renal transplantation. In this study, the inorganic thin-film passivation layer was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam evaporation system, the various kinds of inorganic thin-films were deposited onto the organic layer and their interface properties between organic and inorganic layer were investigated. In this investigation, the MgO layer showed the most suitable properties, and based on this result, the time dependent emission properties were estimated for the OLED with and without passivation layer. In this experiment, we can see that the time-dependent emission properties of MgO passivated OLED had longer life-time compared to non-passivated OLED. Therefore, we can consider that the MgO thin film is one of the most suitable candidates for the thin-film passivation layer of OLED.

이 연구는 영화장르의 진화적 특성과 젠더 담론을 끊임없이 생산 유통하는 멜로영화에 주목하여, 원작인 〈미워도 다시 한 번〉(1968)과 이를 리메이크한 〈미워도 다시 한 번 ’80〉, 〈미워도 다시 한 번 2002〉를 대상으로 모성과 낭만적 사랑의 재현방식과 시대의 변화에 따라 나타나는 지배적 여성담론의 반복과 변화 양상을 분석하였다. 그 결과 〈미워도 다시 한 번〉의 리메이크 과정에서 여성담론이 모성을 넘어 낭만적 사랑으로 점차 확대 재편되고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 인물의 특성과 관계에 주목하는 계열체분석결과에 따르면 리메이크가 진행될수록 여성들의 낭만적 사랑에 대한 추구가 용인되고 이에 대한 사회적 지지가 명확하게 나타난다. 그러나 통합체분석결과인 사건전개 과정에서 여전히 여주인공에 가해지는 가부장적인 처벌과 서사적 담화차원에서 뚜렷이 드러나는 남성 주도적인 시선 그리고 남성의 기억 속에만 존재하는 낭만적 사랑의 유약한 존재감은 가부장제에서 자유로울 수 없는 낭만적 사랑의 한계를 제시한다. 결론적으로 모성과 낭만적 사랑의 담론경합과정에서 낭만적 사랑의 부상은 멜로영화가 여성들의 욕망이 투사되는 장이며 가부장제와의 갈등과 타협이 이루어지는 역동적인 장이 될 수 있음을 보여준다. The study is interested in evolution of film genre and production of gender discourse. This study has two objectives. First, it analyzes how to the motherhood and romantic love are represented into melodrama. Second, this study investigates reproduction and transformation of gender discourse with the changes of the times. For the study, it has analyzed series of 〈Although is hateful again〉, which has re-made continuously. According to a result, it finds that female discourse is expanded and romantic love is strengthener than motherhood in the process of remaking text. In the paradigmatic analysis to examine main characters and relationship, the more film is re-made, the more it represents women’s pursuit of romantic love and social support for it. However, in the syntagmatic analysis, it shows limits of romantic love not to be free from patriarchy. Because heroine was punished at the end of the story and it was expressed with male-dominated gaze although melodrama is female genre. And the presence of romantic love only in hero’s memories is weak in reality. In conclusion, the melodrama reflects women’s desires. Moreover, it is a dynamic popular text in which the conflicts and negotiations with patriarchy take place through the contest for discourse of the motherhood and romantic love.

Background and Objectives MUC5AC and MUC5B are representative secretory mucin genes in the human airway. MUC5AC and MUC5B expression are increased by a variety of inflammatory mediators. Betulinic acid, a naturally occurring pentacyclic triterpenoid, is known to have an anti-inflammatory property. However, the effects of betulinic acid on mucin secretion of airway epithelial cells still have not been reported. Therefore, in this study, the effect of betulinic acid on inflammatory mediators-induced MUC5AC and MUC5B expression was investigated in human airway epithelial cells. Materials and Method In the mucin-producing human NCI-H292 airway epithelial cells, the effects of betulinic acid on interleukin-1β (IL-1β)-, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-, and phorbol myristate acetate (PMA)-induced MUC5AC and MUC5B expression were analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results Betulinic acid attenuated IL-1β-, LPS- and PMA-induced MUC5B mRNA and glycoprotein expression in NCI-H292 cells. Betulinic acid did not attenuate IL-1β-, LPS- and PMA-induced MUC5AC mRNA and glycoprotein expression in NCI-H292 cells. Conclusion These results suggest that betulinic acid attenuates IL-1β-, LPS- and PMA-induced MUC5B expression in airway epithelial cells. Therefore, betulinic acid may modulate a control of mucus-hypersecretion in airway inflammatory disease. Korean J Otorhinolaryngol-Head Neck Surg 2014;57(8):526-32

The Standard language of Mandarin Chinese has changed unceasingly throughout the Chinese history. When this standard pronunciation of chinese became the official language, it is considered that the standard pronunciation had not been based on a certain dialect, and rather had some sort of unbroken rules in its changing patterns. This is one of the characteristics of Mandarin Chinese. The Chinese standard language of Ming-Qing dynasties called “Guanhua” was widely used in the range of both officials and common places. According to the writing of the western missionaries, we can know that the Guanhua in the Ming dynasty in 16th century was very popular in the official circles, the high societies, the knowledge stratum, even in the normal life of the ordinary people. The officers service directly for government, contacted with the high society, had welleducation, was good at Guanhua. The Capitals of each dynasty where the kings lived was the political and cultural centre of China. Those Capitals have changed throughout several thousands of Chinese history, but the standard pronunciation of chinese has not changed, rather developed with some unbroken rules which we can trace back.
