      • 친환경적 여가스포츠활동과 환경의식 및 친환경적 소비행동의 관계

        본 연구는 친환경적 여가스포츠활동과 환경의식 및 친환경적 소비행동과의 관계를 규명하는데에 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 연구대상은 친환경적 여가스포츠 참여자를 집락 무선 표집(cluster random sampling)법으로 표본을 추출하여 친환경적 여가스포츠 참가자와 비참가자의 비율을 선정하여 335명을 표집하였다. 본 연구에서는 사용한 조사도구는 설문지로서 친환경적 여가스포츠활동, 환경의식 및 친환경적 소비행동을 측정하는 문항으로 구성하였다. 환경의식 측정도구는 Maloney(1975)등이 개발한 환경관련 태도를 박숙희(1992)가 우리나라 실정에 맞게 번안하여 제작한 설문지를 친환경적 소비행동은 민현선·이기춘(1999)이 개발한 설문지로 구성하였다. 자료처리는 신뢰성이 없는 자료는 분석대상에서 제외시키고 Windows용 SPSS/PC10.0 Version을 이용하여 분석목적에 따라 기술통계분석(descriptive analysis), 신뢰도분석(reliabilityanalysis), 일원변량분석(one-way ANOVA), t-test, 중다회귀분석(multiple regression analysis)을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 가설을 토대로 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 환경의식과 친환경적 소비행동은 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 친환경적 여가스포츠활동 참가유무에 따른 환경의식 및 친환경적 소비행동은 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 친환경적 스포츠 참가정도는 환경의식과 친환경적 소비행동에 부분적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 친환경적 여가스포츠활동 참가자의 환경의식은 소비행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. The purposes of this study was to identify the relationship between environmental awareness and nature-friendly spending behavior of nature-friendly sports participants. For accomplishing this purposes, the 335 subjects were selected using stratified cluster random sampling method from the nature-friendly sports areas such as for paragliding, hang-gliding, mountain climbing, ski, water-ski, and skin-scuba diving. The data for the study was collected through the survey questionnaires. The questionnaires for environmental awareness had been developed by Maloney(1975) and standardied korean language by Lee(1992). The questionnaires for nature-friendly spending behavior had been developed by Min & Lee(1999). The statistics used for data analysis were Cronbach'a, descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA, t-test and multiple regression analysis. From the analysis of the data, the conclusions of the study were obtained as follows; First, environmental awareness and nature-friendly spending behavior are different according to the socio-demographic characteristics. Second, environmental awareness and nature-friendly spending behavior are different according to the nature-friendly sports participants(enter for). Third, the relationship between the nature-friendly sports participants(term. frequency. strong) and environmental awareness and nature-friendly spending behavior has some relations statistically. Fourth, environmental awareness according to the nature-friendly sports participants and nature-friendly spending behavior has some relations statistically.

      • 머리염색이 인체에 미치는 영향

        일상생활에서 모발염색은 흔히 접할 수 있는 미용의 한 종류로 특히 젊은층을 중심으로 폭발적으로 유행하고 있다. 염색을 위항 사용하는 약제는 표백제와 발색제 등 각종 화학약품이 사용되고 있으나 이로 인한 건강장해에 대한 연구는 그리 많지 않다. 저자들은 염색이 인체의 모발건강에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 염색과 관련된 주관적 증상과 모발의 변화에 대한 실험적 연구를 시행하였다. 동국대학교 경주 캠퍼스 재학생 80명을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하여 염색 유 ·무 및 염색 후에 경험한 증상에 대해 설문 조사하였고, 의과대학 재학생 46명을 대상으로 피부 반응 테스트를 실시하였다. 또한 염색 전후의 모발 탄성도를 측정하였고 모발의 상태를 파악하기 위해 전자 현미경검사를 실시하였다. 설문조사 결과 염색 전에 비하여 염색 후 안구혼탁, 안구건조, 시력저하, 발진 및 접촉성 피부염, 모발손상, 모근손상 등의 증상을 더 많이 경험한다고 호소하였다(p<0.05). 모발손상과 모근손상은 헤어드라이어 사용 빈도에 따라 증가하는 것으로 조사되었다(p<0.05). 피부반응검사에서 가려움증이 가장 많은 증상이었으며 이는 여성보다는 남성에서 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 염색 전후의 모발장력은 염색 전 134.5±10.37g, 염색 128.0±30.69g, 염색 이틀 후 112.5±19.69g으로 나타났다. 염색 전후의 모발의 전자현미경 케라틴 층이 현저히 감소하고 모발이 가늘어지는 차이를 보였다. 염색은 모발손상, 모발 케라틴 손상 및 모근 손상, 발진 및 접촉성 피부반응, 안구혼탁, 안구건조, 시력 저하를 유발한다. 따라서 염색약으로 인한 손상에 대한 주의와 예방이 필요하다고 생각한다. 예방대책으로 염색 전 피부테스트를 통한 적합성 여부를 판단하는 것이 필요하며 가급적 염색을 피하는 것이 좋을 것이다. 염색약에 발암물질이 포함되어있다는 보고도 있어 염색 제조사의 철저한 실험과 염색 물질의 선별이 염색으로 인한 부작용을 최소화하는데 중요한 역할을 할 것이다. Hair coloring has became one of the most popular cosmetic activities to younger generations during last decade. However, there are few studies on the health effect of widespread use of chemical dyes. This study was conducted to study the effects of hair coloring dye on hair and other systems. We conducted a questionnaire survey of 80 persons in Kyongju campus, Dongguk University. We have done open patch skin test on 46 medical students. We also conducted scanning electron microscopy to examine the hair strength and structure before and after hair coloring process. Injury of hair and hair bulb, contact dermatitis, turbid eyes, xerophthalmia, and poor visual acuity were the main symptoms complained after hair coloring (p<0.05). Injury of hair and hair bulb were increased by frequency of hair-dryer use(p<0.05). In open patch test, pruritus was complanined by more than half of the subjects. Mean strength of hairs before and after hair coloring was as follows; 134.5 (SD 10.37)g before hair coloring, 128.0 (SD 30.69)g immediately after hair coloring, and 112.5 (SD 19.69)g after two days. The scanning electron microscopic findings of hair surface before and after hair coloring showed decreased keratin layer and thinning of the hair. Hair coloring induces injury to hair, its keratin layer, and hair bulb as well as contact dermatitis, turbid eyes, xerophthalmia, and poor visual acuity. Therefore, we think that precaution is needed in use of hair coloring dye. To prevent complications induced by hair coloring dye, it is necessary, especially to those with allergy or skin disorders, to perform skin test before action and avoid hair coloring whenever possible. Longterm health effects of hairdye should be studied and manufacturing companies should try to minimize complications induced by hair coloring dye.

        Thrombosis and Recanalization of Small Saccular Cerebral Aneurysm : Two Case Reports and a Suggestion for Possible Mechanism

        Reports of thrombosis and recanalization of cerebral aneurysm are rare. We report two cases of small, saccular aneurysms in which spontaneous thrombosis had occurred during the preparation for endovascular coiling. Also, we review reported cases and propose the presumed pathogenesis.

        <P>UVA is responsible for numerous biological effects on the skin, including premature aging characterized by wrinkles, leathery texture, and mottled pigmentation. The objective of this study was evaluating the protective effect of ginseng leaf extract prepared by Ultraflo L on skin from photodamage. Anti-wrinkle effect of ginseng leaf extract with or without Ultraflo L treatment were tested on human keratinocyte cells (HaCaT) irradiated with ultraviolet (UV) A. Ginseng leaves inhibited ROS generation, GHS depletion, and expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 induced by UVA irradiation. The glutathione (GSH) content of the cells was significantly increased by over 25?μg?mL(-1) of Ultraflo-treated extract (UTGL) as well as by over 100?μg?mL(-1) of nonenzyme-treated extract (NEGL) compared to control. UTGL and NEGL treatments significantly decreased expression of metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and 9 compared with control, but inhibitory effects of two groups on expression of MMPs were not significantly different. Overall, ULtraflo L-treated ginseng leaves inhibited ROS generation, GHS depletion, and expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in UVA photodamaged HaCat cells. From these results, enzyme-treated ginseng leaf extract has advantages over untreated ginseng leaves and have potential as a skin protective ingredient against UVA-induced photodamage.</P>

        Leukocyte Common Antigen-Related (LAR) Tyrosine Phosphatase Positively Regulates Osteoblast Differentiation by Modulating Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase (ERK) Activation

        Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) are pivotal regulators of key cellular functions, including cell growth, differentiation, and adhesion. Previously, we reported that leukocyte common antigen-related (LAR) tyrosine phosphatase promotes osteoblast differentiation in MC3T3-E1 preosteoblast cells. In the present study, the mechanism of the regulatory action of LAR on osteoblast differentiation was investigated. The mineralization of extracellular matrix and calcium accumulation in MC3T3-E1 cells were markedly enhanced by LAR overexpression, and these effects were further increased by treatment with an MEK inhibitor. In addition, LAR overexpression dramatically reduced extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk) activation during osteoblast differentiation. In contrast, a marginal effect of the inactive LAR mutant on Erk activation was detected. Expression of osteoblast-related genes such as ALP, BSP, DLX5, OCN, and RUNX2, was increased by LAR overexpression during osteoblast differentiation. On the basis of these results, we propose that LAR functions as a positive regulator of osteoblast differentiation by modulating ERK activation. Therefore, LAR phosphatase could be used as a novel regulatory target protein in many bone-associated diseases, including osteoporosis.

        Comparison of clinical diagnostic performance between commercial RRT-LAMP and RT-qPCR assays for SARS-CoV-2 detection

        The rapid and reliable detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) plays a key role in isolating infected patients and preventing further viral transmission. In this study, we evaluated the clinical diagnostic performances of a commercial real-time reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RRT-LAMP) assay (Isopollo® COVID-2 assay, M-monitor, Daegu, Korea) using eighty COVID-19 suspected clinical samples and compared these with the results of a commercial real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay (Allplex<sup>TM</sup> 2019-nCoV rRT-QPCR Assay, SeeGene, Seoul, Korea). The results of the RRT-LAMP assay targeting the N or RdRp gene of SARS-CoV-2 showed perfect agreement with the RT-qPCR assay results in terms of detection. Furthermore, the RRT-LAMP assay was completed in just within a 20-min reaction time, which is significantly faster than about the 2 h currently required for the RT- qPCR assay, thus enabling prompt decision making regarding the isolation of infected patients. The RRT-LAMP assay will be a valuable tool for rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of SARS-CoV-2 in human or unexpected animal clinical cases.

        Recently a number of patients have been reported with localized aggressive resorption of bone around the cemented femoral component of a total hip replacement. In the first report, Harris reported four cases such patients with tumor-like bone resorption after total hip replacement arthroplasty, and described this condition as a benign, non-inflammatory, adverse tissue reaction. The authors report one case of aggressive granulomatous lesion in 13 year old cemented total hip replacement arthroplasty.

        Yonsei Dermatology celebrated its centennial in 2017, marking 100 years since Kung Sun Oh established the first Department of Dermatology and Urology in Korea in 1917. Following the footsteps of Kung Sun Oh, a pioneer of Korean dermatology, its members united and worked to provide the best medical service and achieve academic milestones in dermatology. Over the past hundred years, Yonsei Dermatology has played a pivotal role in the advancement of medical science and academia in Korea. The main activities of the department include medical care, education, and dermatologic research. Its research activities have encompassed a wide spectrum of dermatologic manifestations from skin immunology and pathology to introduction of newly developed treatment technologies. As Kung Sun Oh was the first Korean professor of dermatology at Severance Medical School and a passionate educator, we continue to serve his will by nurturing medical students and dermatology special-ists to serve as global medical leaders. The Kung Sun Oh Memorial Lecture, first hosted in 1977, was the beginning of mutual international academic exchange in the field of dermatology in Korea. The memorial lecture has played a major role in advancing the academic status of Korean dermatological science by inviting distinguished dermatologists from around the world as guest lecturers. Yonsei Dermatology has played a key role in the history of modern medicine and dermatology in Korea over the last 100 years and continues to make an impact. (Ann Dermatol 30(5) 513∼521, 2018)
