Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to examine the incidence of proximal colon adenoma according to characteristics of distal colon adenoma. Methods: Ninety-two colon adenoma patients who underwent total colonoscopy and endoscopic polypectomy were analyzed retrospectively. Adenoma was classified as proximal when located in proximal to splenic flexure. The advanced adenoma was defined as an adenoma larger than 10 mm or any size with a villous component or severe dysplasia. Results: The incidence of proximal adenoma was increased significantly in those with old age (odds ratio (OR)=3.3), villous (OR=5.3) or dysplastic histology (OR=8.1) or the presence of advanced distal adenoma (OR=3.4). However, the incidence of advanced proximal adenoma was increased only in those with old age (OR=11.2). Nineteen in thirty-nine (48.7%) patients with proximal colon adenoma did not have distal colon adenoma, Conclusions: Various characteristics of distal colon adenoma couldn't exactly predict the presence of synchronous proximal adenoma and a greater percentage of subjects with proximal adenoma didn't have distal adenoma. So, colonoscopy could be a standard method for colon cancer screening in Korea.

There are two types of legal systems in Korea designed for charitable activities, that is, the Charitable Corporation under the Civil Law and the Charitable Trust under the Trust Act. In actuality the former is frequently used, whereas the latter had no practical experience used for the period of half century since the establishment of the system. But in consideration of the improvement of charitable activities in the future, it is suggested that both systems should be widely used to meet the growing needs. Because the rapid economic growth in Korea now ; the rise in income which gives the financial ground for charitable activities ; the growing demand for charitable activities through charitable trusts because of their greater manageability. Then, what is the legal step to be taken to encourage the practical use of Charitable Trusts? It would be an urgent task to consolidate the necessary ordinances to adjust to practicabilities on the basis of the regulations in the Trust Act and, thus, give necessary treatment in taxation and, it necessary, follow it up by administrative guidance. Finally, the Charitable Trust and the Foundation differ from each other, reflecting their respective legal structures ; and among their activities, therefore, there are different areas suitable for each. For example, the Charitable Trust is more applicable to those activities of short period, or of relatively small size, or aiming at financial aid only.

Objective: To determine the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) ultrasonographic dimensions, nerve pathway, and regional anatomy. Method: Thirty healthy, asymptomatic adult women participated in this study. Using ultrasonography (US), we measured the cross-sectional circumference, area, diameter of the LFCN and the distance from the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) to LFCN. Height and weight of the subjects were obtained and body mass index (BMI) was determined. Correlation between the measured parameters and age and body mass index (BMI) was observed Result: The mean circumference, area, longitudinal and transverse diameters were 8.5±0.4 mm, 4.5± 1.0 mm2, 3.5±0.3 mm, and 1.5±0.2 mm, respectively. The mean distance between the ASIS and LFCN was 3.4±0.8 mm. There was no correlation between the US parameters and BMI or age. Conclusion: High-resolution US examination may be a useful tool in the evaluation of LFCN and diagnosis of meralgia paresthetica.

With recent attempts to improve quality and productivity, the prefabrication manufacturing system has been occupying an increasing share of the construction area. To minimize site work, material is more frequently being produced and partially assembled at a plant, and then installed at a site. For this reason, the production process is being divided and the materials are being delivered to the site after passing through multiple plants. With these changes in the production process, the materials delivery plan is becoming an important management point. In particular, as road transportation using trucks has a 71 percent share of the domestic transportation market, selecting the proper transportation path is important when delivering materials and equipment to a site. But the management system at the project design phase to calculate the delivery cost by considering the production process of the pre-fab material and the CO2 emission at the material delivery phase is currently lacking. This study suggests a process design model for assembly production of the pre-fab material and transportation logistics based on carbon emission. The suggested model can be helpful to optimize the location of the intermediate plant. It is expected to be utilized as a basic model at the project plan and design phase when subcontractors make decisions on items such as materials procurement, selecting the production method, and choosing the location of the assembly plant.
