Henry James의 작품세계에서 여성인물들은 주요한 위치를 차지하고 있고, 남성보다 더욱 준엄하고 숭고한 논리와 도덕의식을 가진 반면 또 부도덕한 행위를 감행하는 능력도 크며 대체로 남성보다 더 풍부한 감정을 지니고 있다. James가 많은 단편소설과 장편소설에 즐겨 여성인물을 많이 등장시켜서 그들에게 이와 같은 역할을 부여한 이유는 일반적으로 그가 신체상의 장애로 결혼을 하지 않고 일생을 독신으로 지내서 여성에 대한 관심과 경원이 남달리 컸던 때문이다. 그러나 뭣보다도 가장 중요한 이유는 폐결핵으로 말미암아 24세의 짧은 생애를 마친 Albany에 살았던 미모의 종매 Minny Temple에 대한 James의 깊은 추념이 그 동기가 된것이라고 생각된다.

KPetro: 전용 카메라 앱을 지원하는 한국 암각화 유적 정보 시스템

Korean petroglyphs have been found over a lot of ruins through nation-wide regions including Daegok-ri Bangudae and Cheonjeon-ri in Ulsan. In this paper, we present an information system for Korean petroglyph ruins named KPetro which supports the dedicated camera application and the timeline service. The system provides the services for searching and updating information in various ways over the primary database constructed with the data on petroglyph ruins, which are collected by the Bangudae Petroglyph Institute. In addition, through the camera application developed for the system, users can easily add photos to the appropriate petroglyph ruin according to the GPS information of the location where those photos are taken. Also, the system provides the timeline service showing the photos for a specific petroglyph ruins in order of shooting time. To support both mobile and desktop environments, KPetro provides its functions in a web browser using the HTML5 standard technology and the JavaScript language, enabling the system to be adaptable to various user devices and extendable for its functionalities. 한국의 암각화는 울산 천전리 암각화와 울산 대곡리 반구대 암각화를 포함하여 전국에서 많은 유적들에서 발견되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 전용 카메라 앱과 타임라인 서비스를 제공하는 한국 암각화 유적 정보 시스템인 KPetro의 개발에 대해 기술한다. 개발된 시스템은 울산대학교 반구대암각화유적보존연구소에서 수집하고 분류한 다양한 암각화 자료를 바탕으로 1차적인 데이터베이스를 구축하고 이를 기반으로 하여 암각화 자료를 다양한 형태로 검색, 추가 및 수정하는 서비스를 제공한다. 또한 개발된 카메라 앱과 GPS정보를 바탕으로 사용자가 촬영한 사진을 적절한 유적에 손쉽게 추가하는 기능을 지원하며 촬영된 사진을 시간 순으로 정렬하는 타임라인 서비스를 제공한다. KPetro는 모바일 환경과 데스크탑 환경을 모두 지원하기 위해 HTML5 표준 기술과 자바스크립트 언어를 이용하여 웹브라우저에서 기능을 제공하며, 이를 통하여 다양한 사용자 기기에의 적응성과 기능 추가에 대한 확장성을 기본적으로 지원하고 있다.

항알레르기 효능을 가진 한약물의 실험 연구 결과에 대한 고찰

Objective : The purpose of this study is to survey the experimental studies for Herbal Medicines of Anti-allergic Effects by reviewing oriental medicine journals. Methods : We collected 48 research papers on Oriental herbal medicines (prescriptions, herbs and aqua-acupunctures) of Anti-allergic effects in the internet site OASIS using the keyword 'Antiallergy'. Then we analyzed them according to published journals, years, and research methods, etc. Results : 48 papers in relation to Oriental herbal medicines of anti-allergic effects have been published in many kinds of journals and shows a tendency to increase every year. There are 23 cases of using herb simplexes, 21 cases of herb-combined prescription, and 4 cases of aqua-acupuncture. Conclusions : This result will provide useful information of field of Oriental herbal medicine for the development of anti-allergic related herb simplexes and herb combined prescriptions. In the future, we have to perform more studies such as clinical trial and research papers on combined medication of the oriental and the western medicines for anti-allergic effects.

Xibo4u: 개인맞춤형 광고를 지원하는 디지털 사이니지

디지털 사이니지는 상업공간이나 공공장소에서 유무선 네트워크와 연결된 디지털 디스플레이를 통하여 각종 정보 및 광고를 제공하는 서비스이다. 본 논문에서는 개인 맞춤형 광고를 지원하는 디지털 사이니지 소프트웨어 솔루션인 Xibo4u의 개발에 대하여 기술한다. Xibo4u는 광고 콘텐츠 및 광고 카테고리를 관리하는 Xibo4u 서버와 개인 관심분야 정보를 기반으로 고객에게 광고를 보여주는 광고 디스플레이 장치, 고객이 관심분야 정보를 설정할 수 있는 스마트폰 앱으로 구성되며 오픈소스 소프트웨어인 Xibo를 확장하여 개발되었다. Digital Signage is a service which displays a variety of information or advertizement on digital display connected with communication network in commercial or public places. In this paper, We present a digital signage software solution named Xibo4u providing personalized advertisement. Xibo4u is composed of a server managing category and contents of advertisement, digital displays showing advertisement based on the categories specific to customers, and a smartphone application which enables customers to designate their favorite categories of advertisement. Xibo4u is developed by extending the Xibo open source software.

Henry James의 작품에 나타난 관찰자와 "Seeing"

The persistent recurrence of the observer of life appears in Henry James's fiction all through his life. The conceptions and values of the observers have been studied by many Jamesian scholars. But the misconceptions about Jamesian observers still continue to arise. The witer attempts to analyze the causes of the observers' appearance and the ways of their living, focussing the development of their "seeing" life in James's early and late novels. Rowland Mallet in the Roderick Hudsom is the semi-detached observer who has had insufficient power of "seeing" life, and become a failure. Ralph Touchett in The Portrait of a Lady is the passive detached observer who has never participated in real life. He only appreciates imagination and live vicarious life. The most intelligent, active observer, Lambert Strether in The Ambassadors is not attempting to live vicariously or fulfill his "erotic wishes: through "seeing" the young couple. In fact, he is living fully in the present. Strether's "seeing reflected life" and showing himself to others as a standard how to live are an artistic way of "living" like James himself. The active observer is a creative artist whose source of interest resides in his "seeing life" as "living."

Objective : The purpose of this study is to study trends in Western(North America and Europe) medical treatments for the acne vulgaris. This study analyzed research on acne vulgaris in PubMed. Methods : We searched PubMed related the latest medical treatments for acne vulgaris. We analyzed 21 research papers and examined published journals, years, countries, and their methods, results, interventions, participants, periods and instruments of assessment. Results : The method of studies was mostly double-blind, randomized controlled trial. There were research papers concerning treatment with light-lazer, topical agents, and oral contraceptives. There were more positive results compared to negative results for efficacy of treatment. The median for number of participants was 364.0 persons. The median for periods was 67.8 days. Assessment for outcomes were lesion counts, adverse effects, VAS, etc. Conclusions : It is necessary to study latest trends of Western medical treatments for acne vulgaris and understand strengths and weaknesses of those. It will be helpful to more in-depth develop clinical treatments of Oriental Medicine for acne vulgaris.

Henry James의 道德觀

The moral issues in Henty James's fiction still remain, after two generaions of notable comments, a difficult and perplexing problem. His moral universe comprises two disparate worlds of good and evil, that is, to use Kant's terminology, the "world of end" and the "world of means." This research is based upon the hypothesis that these two worlds can be distinctly illustrated by the multi-pronged approach toward the character's interreltionships, their manners of using money, and their attitudes on sex. James's morality is inevitably connected with monetary or sexual renunciation. People of the "world of end" voluntarily renounce their material and marital interests by their moral decision in the process of confrontation with evil. James often spoke of the "crucible of the imagination," which turns ordinary ingredients (impressions of life) into things strong and new, rich alloys worth much more than their original contents. And such imagination is the sole compensation for his protagonist's abandonment of happiness. James's fiction certainly reflects the co-existence of a Puritan concern with evil and a Transcendentalist concern with experience. It is the world of "sublime consensus" in which American moral good is, through imagination, combined harmoniously with the sacred quintessence of European aesthetic and intellectual values which have been weathered and filtered through tradition and history.

The purpose of this thesis is to observe Henry James' life as an artist through analyzing Americans' attitudes to European life in his works. Americans staying in Europe may be sorted into three categories; Americans who want to see and take direct participation in life, Americans who refuse to see and try to get from life, and Americans who want to see but renounce to take direct participation in life. Americans who want to see and take direct participation in life are seen through all his works, particularly in his early works. They have a great expectation for Europe. For them, Europe is a land of experiences and knowledge. But in fact they are killed or victimised by the new rich experiences of life for they rare too innocent and have dull perception and poor vision. In contrast with these Americans there are another Americans who are disinterested in European life and pursue nothing. They disapprove of European life and refuse to see and even try to get from it. They regard Europe only as a play ground or toy. These Americans have no vision and perception but their Puritan consciences, which is confirmed by their artistic ignorance. James thinks they are worse than useless. The third categories of Americans are the characters who want to see eagerly, but renounce to take direct participation in real life. They are immensely interested in everything. They see, feel and inquire. For them, to live is to see, and art deals with what we see; They get gradual change and development of their old American vision and the freedom of life in Europe. James treasure vision and perception most in his life. He thinks to retain finer vision, it is essential to renounce direct participation in life. There are recurrent images of artist who is looking down life from the window or balocony or who is meditating life on a bench in the garden. These are images of artists in Henry James.
