2001 AURA Vol.8 No.1

"The rise and fall of these civilizations resulted from repeating 'patterns in which similar 'challenges' were met with similar 'responses' ." - Arnold Joseph Toynbee; 1889-1975 It is true that human beings have developed without a break. Especially like today which we call the information age, we are investing our time and effort to learn something new and sometimes force to do it to survive in jungle. New theories, new techniques, and new ways of living are tend to help us living better than before, however sometimes those are imposing a heavy burden on a person who are not familiar with them. Without a doubt, there is a huge revolution is going on in photography area without exception. Since it was first invented in 1839, the basic formality of producing a photography has not been changed until the digital concept was introduced. The transition from analog information to digital one can fulfill the purpose of photography in many application area especially when it uses with Internet and telecommunication. This thesis is emphasized on 'output' in digital imaging process because it is the one that most of photographers are paying great attention to. We tried to compare the digital outputs with traditional photographic output methods to anticipate the possibilities of 'Digital Darkroom'- the upcoming revolution !

        Color Management System

2002 AURA Vol.0 No.9

All devices that are used in digital Image manipulation like digital still cameras, scanners, monitors and printers each have their own transfer fuction or transmission characteristics. By those reasons, there is a lot of confusion around issue of acquiring, stroring and displaying digital image properly. CMS, Color management System, is started with the basic question How do we make the color on the monitor match what someone else sees on their monitor? With good device profiles and process control, color you can see on screen and in proofs is extremely representative of what you will get with the fianl output. In this thesis, we tried to apply and test CMS to the circumstances that we are involved because since most of research on CMS has been performed in abroad so it could be different than our devices and situation. The final goal through this thesis is save time, save money and better communication through proper applying of Color Management System.

Vol.0 No.8

2003 AURA Vol.0 No.10

Photography born to the ambition of seeing and developed by mechanical civilization is sufficiently satisfying the desire of seeing. With creating the splendor visual culture, photography extends a field to the joining of digital technology. In spite of a short history, digital technology has been included in the area of photography. Nowadays we don't have to divide digital photography into analog photography. The photography will be evolved to 3D images and those can even have a motion. Therefore we choose the lenticular for expressing all those goals. The lenticular which is possible to make 3D image and motion picture has the superiority of attention and information delivering power to a still image. This project the manufacturing of lenticular image used by digital and analog method studies the extending possibility of photography which will come true near the future. What we want to this project is to confirm the extent of lentucular's manufacturing and limit of thesedays' photography. Lenticular image is one of tried methods making 3D-photography or motion pictures over limitations of 2D-image such as Parallax Barrier or Integral Photography. Lentucular image is increasingly being recognised as its superiority to high attention rate and delivering power. In order to enjoy lenticular image other supporting materials are not necessary. This article has studied lenticular effects and manufacturing process. Specially, we have compared the two forms of printing such as digital and analog. We find applications that will be suitable for each process.

2004 AURA Vol.0 No.11

A photograph is a kind of compound outcome made by people’s different sensitivity and scientific knowledge such as Optics, Physics and Chemistry. This outcome pursues ‘effective communication’like photography does. So what is communication? Communication is defined as spiritual and psychological interaction using languages, gestures and pictures, and it is composed of ‘Sender’, ‘Receiver’, ‘message’, and ‘channel’. Traditionally, the communication was just one-way system; the ‘Sender’ gave a ‘Message’ to the `Receiver’ through the ‘Channel’. Recently, however, the way of the communication is changing on art and culture included photography. The division of the ‘Sender’and ‘Receiver’has been ambiguous, so they give and receive messages each other interactively. Arrival of this sort of new communication paradigm can be used for various intelligence media, and it contents the desire of art and cultural parts who seek new and unique things.
