Naesosan(NSS) has been used in Oriental Medicine as a drug that treated carbuncle and cellulitis. So, the purpose of this Study was to investigate effects of NSS on the cytotoxicity of cancer cell lines and lymphocytes in vitro, proliferation of Ll210 cells and lymphocytes in L1210 cells transplanted mice, improvement of blood count in Ll210 cells transplanted mice, tumor weight and body weight in sarcoma-180 cells transplanted mice, survival prolongation in sarcoma-180 cells transplanted mice. We used NSS extract with freeze-dried, 8wks-old male mice(balb/c and ICR mouse $18{\pm}2g$). Ll210 cell lines, and sarcoma-180 cell lines for this Study, The proliferation of cells was tested using a colorimetric tetrazoliun assay(MTT assay). The results of this Study were obtained as follows ; 1. NSS showed significantly cytotoxicitic effects of cancer cell lines, did not show cytotoxicitic effects of lymphocytes. 2, Proliferation of lymphocytes in L1210 cells transplanted mice did not effects by NSS. 3. NSS inhibited significantly the proliferation of L1210 cells in L1210 cells transplanted mice. 4. NSS improved significantly the blood count in Ll210 cells transplanted mice. 5. NSS increased significantly th body weight in sarcoma-180 cells transplanted mice. 6. NSS dereased significantly the tumor weight in sarcoma-180 cells transplanted mice. 7. NSS prolonged significantly the survival time in sarcoma-180 cells transplanted mice.

The purpose of this study is to explore what kind of factors make high school students decide to select 'The Science of Home Economics' as one of the course among various in-depth elective courses in high school curriculum. An empirical survey was conducted by administering a structured survey questionnaire to 463 male and female students who attend in a college-bound high school in Taegu. The major findings are as follows: 1)There were significant differences between the choice group of 'The Science of Home Economics' and non-choice group of 'The Science of Home Economics' in learning motivation to 5 units of 'The Science of Home Economics', student's perception of the traditional role and progressive role of Home Economics education, impression of Home Economics teachers, mother's academic career, academic achievement in general and mother's request for selection of 'The Science of Home Economics' as an elective course . 2)Significant variables which influenced student's selection of 'The Science of Home Economics' relatively were, in descending order. student's perception of the Progressive role of home economics education, impression of Home Economics teachers, coeducational schooling, student's learning motivation to the 'food' unit, student's attitude fur sex-role, academic achievement in general and mother's request for selection of 'The Science of Home Economics' as an elective course.
STZ 유발 당뇨쥐에서 시간에 따른 생리적 항산화계의 변화

The purpose of this study was to investigate change of physiological antioxidative system according to the time in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing 150±10gm were randomly assigned to one normal and five STZ-induced diabetic groups. Diabetic groups were classified to experimental period. Diabetes was experimentally induced by intravenous injection of 55 mg/kg of body weight of STZ in citrate buffer(PH 4.3) after 6 weeks feeding of three experimental diets. Animals were sacrificed at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18th days of diabetic states. 1. Activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in liver was increased in that of diabetic mellitus(DM) groups at 3th day but that of DM groups was not significant from 6th day according to period. Glutathion peroxidase(GPX) was significantly decreased in DM groups from 6th day 2. Reduced glutathione(GSH) contents in liver significantly decreased in diabetic groups from 3rd day compared with those of DM groups according to the period. Oxidized glutathione(GSSG) was higher from 6th day. GSH/GSSG ratio was significantly lower than that of normal group from 3rd day to all experimental period 3. Contents of vitamin E in liver of DM groups were significantly decreased compared with that of normal group from 6th day. 4. Lipid peroxide(LPO) contents in liver of DM groups were significantly increased compared with that of normal group from 3rd day. The present results indicate that STZ-induced diabetic rats were reduced by antioxidative defense system and taken by peroxidate damage in tissue compared with normal group from 3rd day or 6rd day after injection STZ. It lended to acceleration all diabetic groups but no significance according to the experimental time.
