The analgesic effects of music in people with glasses on perceived pain through cold-pressor task (CPT) is assessed based on three-sequence, three-period, crossover trial with three treatment conditions(music-listening, news-listening, and no-sound) to each subject. Fifty subjects are divided into three sequence groups by randomization, and CPTs under the pre-assigned treatment conditions at each period are performed. Pain responses after each CPT, subjects' pain tolerance (PT) in time scale and pain intensity (PI) and pain unpleasantness (PU) in visual analog scale (VAS) are measured. After classifying the group by whether or not to wear glasses, which is the phenotype of the myopia gene, pain responses are compared by F-tests and Tukey's multiple comparisons. CPT pain responses in group with glasses during the music intervention are significantly different from responses during the news intervention and the control conditions, respectively. This study investigates the pain responses of music intervention in the group wearing glasses, which can be seen as a phenotype of the nearsighted gene, and this result would play a role in explaining the biopsychosocial model of the pain mechanism.

The importance of floating photovoltaic systems has recently been emerging to address some issues arising from the installation of conventional ground-mounted photovoltaics. Floating photovoltaics have a few advantages such as cutting down land usage, reducing water evaporation or creating algae. Though there is still necessity to supplement with technical issues: mechanical stability, reliability and long-term durability of floaters and modules. In this paper, we focus the current level of packaging development and introduce research trends that could be applied to next-generation floating photovoltaics.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparison of nutrient intake and metabolic syndrome between single person households and non-single person households in elderly subjects. We analyzed data from 2,903 subjects ≥ age 65 who participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) 2013~2015. As a result, single-person households had lower income and economic ability, overall nutrient intake was deteriorated, and the proportion of high-carbohydrate intake was high, compared to non-single person households. After adjusting for potential confounders (sex, age, education, household income, economic activity, smoking status, alcohol consumption, walking frequency, health status, depression status, and dietary factors), the single-person household showed a tendency of 1.22-fold higher ORs of metabolic syndrome and 1.3-fold higher ORs of hypertriglyceridemia than the non-single-person household. We suggest that the single-person household may be associated with increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome and hypertriglyceridemia in the elderly subjects.

This study investigates how individuals respond to an institution. In particular, we attempt to illuminate the sensemaking process can be one of micro-foundations of organizational decoupling. Positing that the meanings of an institution can be differently interpreted by individuals, we elaborate the sensemaking process in the context of internship. In fact, internship has multiple meanings (such as education and employment) and interns have their own understandings on the internship. In this sense, we specify the process in which the meanings of internship are re-framed by individuals. We postulate that such re-framing process is derived from ongoing interactions between institution and actors. And it reveals a performative change in the meanings of an institution. As an institution, internship is originally conceived to facilitate the job training (i.e. education), but as individuals get through the internship, they re-define the meaning of internships into a kind of job position, (i.e. employment). In this study, through in-depth interviews of 10 undergraduate students in Korea, we disentangle the mechanism of the meaning-change process. Based on the process of sensemaking, our findings reveal that the sensemaking process can be specified into the nullification stage and re-definition stage. At the nullification stage, interns are tend to reject their original and ostensible meaning of internship, i.e. education. Rather, this rejection (i.e. nullification) leads to creating a new meaning, i.e. employment. With the nullified meaning of internship, interns tends to re-define the meaning of internship, which is deviated from its ostensible meaning. Such deviance of meaning, or the performative meaning of internship, indicates that the internship can be differently employed among different firms. And this results in organizational decoupling. Hence, our study can contribute to the literature on organizational decoupling in terms that the gap between expectation and experience can lead to a re-framing process of the meanings of an institution. Based on our findings, we provide theoretical and practical implications on the performative meanings of institution.
