Radiologic Diagnosis of Asbestosis in Korea
차윤기,김정숙,김유경,김윤경 대한영상의학회 2016 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.17 No.5
Asbestosis is the most important change noted in the lung parenchyma after environmental and occupational exposure to asbestos fibers. It is characterized by diffuse interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. In Korea, the incidence of asbestosis will continue to increase for many years to come and the government enacted the Asbestos Damage Relief Law in 2011 to provide compensation to those suffering from asbestos-related diseases. Radiologic evaluation is necessary for diagnosis of asbestosis, and radiologists play a key role in this process. Therefore, it is important for radiologists to be aware of the various imaging features of asbestosis.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (S. maltophilia) is a rare, but globally emerging gram-negative multiple-drug-resistant organism usually found in a nosocomial setting in immunocompromised patients. To our best knowledge, computed tomography (CT) features of community-acquired S. maltophilia pneumonia have not been previously reported in an immunocompetent patient. Herein, we presented the CT findings of a previous healthy 56-year-old male with S. maltophilia pneumonia.

A freely mobile calcified or noncalcified nodule in the pleural cavity, known as thoracolithiasis, is quite rare. There are several reports of CT findings of thoracolithiasis, but there is no report of thoracolithiasis mistakenly considered as a pleural plaque in a patient with a history of asbestos exposure. We report a case of a 61-year-old man with a mobile pleural stone thoracoscopically confirmed as thoracolithiasis and which was regarded as a pleural plaque on CT scan in a patient with a history of asbestos exposure.

Myofibroblastoma of the breast is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor that is known to occur in middle-aged and elderly men, yet there are some recent reports showing no certain difference for the gender distribution of this malady. Localized mass excision can usually provide a complete cure. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no reports of metastasis or recurrence of this tumor. Here we describe the sonographic findings of a case of recurrent myofibroblastoma after surgical excision for suspected fibroadenomas in both breasts of a 25-year-old woman.
Carcinosarcoma of the Ureter and Urinary Bladder: A Case Report
차윤기,김수현,강미진,김지영,김성희,조현선,정명자 대한영상의학회 2010 대한영상의학회지 Vol.63 No.6
Carcinosarcoma is biphasic neoplasm with distinct carcinomatous and sarcomatous components. Carcinosarcoma arising from the urinary system is extremely rare and only 14 such cases of the ureteral carcinosarcoma have been reported in the medical literature. We experienced a case of surgically proven carcinosarcoma of the ureter and urinary bladder and we report here on the computed tomography findings of this rare neoplasm.

A gastro-pleuro-pericardial fistula is an abnormal communication between the stomach, pleural cavity, and pericardium. It is a very rare and life-threatening condition, which needs prompt intervention. We report a case of gastro-pleuro-pericardial fistula in a patient with tongue cancer who was treated with chemoradiotherapy. A 41-year-old woman presented with left chest discomfort and dyspnea. She was diagnosed with left pleural metastasis from tongue cancer and was treated with chemoradiotherapy on the left posteroinferior chest wall. A CT revealed the abnormal connection between the gastric fundus, left pleura and pericardium, showing gastro-pleuro-pericardial fistula.

Unilateral pulmonary artery hypoplasia or agenesis without congenital cardiovascular anomalies is rare in adults. We report a case of a 36-year-old man with isolated left unilateral pulmonary artery hypoplasia with recurrent hemoptysis. On computed tomography (CT), the left pulmonary artery showed hypoplasia with multiple collateral vessels seen in the mediastinum and the left hemithorax. Also, parenchymal bands and peripheral linear opacities were seen in the affected lung, which were probably due to chronic infarction induced by unilateral pulmonary artery hypoplasia. There are only a few reports focusing on the radiologic findings in the pulmonary parenchyma induced by unilateral pulmonary artery hypoplasia, such as parenchymal bands and peripheral linear opacities. Therefore we report this case, which focused on the CT findings in the pulmonary parenchyma due to isolated unilateral pulmonary artery hypoplasia.
Two Consecutive Levels of Unilateral Cervical Spondylolysis on Opposite Sides
류경화,김선정,김옥화,김승호,이광희,백혜진,이예다운,차윤기 대한영상의학회 2015 대한영상의학회지 Vol.73 No.3
Cervical spondylolysis, with or without spondylolisthesis, is a rare condition defined as a corticated cleft between the superior and inferior articular facets of the articular pillar. The defect occurs predominantly at C6, and is usually bilateral in up to two-thirds of cases. Multilevel involvement is uncommon, however, to date, no case of two consecutive levels of unilateral cervical spondylolysis on opposite sides has been reported. Here, we report a rare case of a patient affected by two consecutive levels of unilateral cervical spondylolysis at C5 and C6 on opposite sides in a 19-year-old male complaining of neck pain.
